Hey I have 3 Ruggable rugs and all of mine shrunk and curled badly the very 1st time I washed them. I contacted the company but sadly they weren’t as eager to replace my rugs. 😡 They refunded HALF of what I paid for ONE of the 3 rugs. So DISAPPOINTED!! I don’t recommend them at all!

Thank you for this honest review. I was seriously considering investing in these rugs because I have dogs that leave pet hair everywhere and have dirty paws sometimes. You saved me the headache of experimenting with these expensive rugs.

09/20 UPDATE: Thanks for all the support! As some of you mentioned below, you can now shop Ruggable on Amazon, by clicking here: @t Some of you are saying this is a good way to bypass the sketchy return policy. I haven't tried purchasing this way myself, but let us know if you do! We also FINALLY figured out how to fix the Ruggable curling -- you can watch how we fix it here: th-cam.com/video/qVt2xl0upn8/w-d-xo.html

To try and preserve your color, try the woolite dark wash detergent. That usually retains the color in my really dark good denim and clothing with high pigment. It’s less harsh than the regular detergents. I hope that helps. Thanks for the review. 👌🏾

I wonder if they would REPLACE everyone’s rugs that are curling?Or do we have to have a YT channel and call them out on it?😄

I’m wondering the same thing. I’ve thought about getting them for my house especially since they’re making the higher pile ones but I can’t help but wonder if they would have done that if she would have simply called in?

This is a good question. There are some other comments that said Ruggable sent them replacement rugs when they complained about the curling, but when the replacements curled as well, they just gave up. Worth a try reaching out!

Oak Abode I doubt they would since they charge ppl for returns. You blog so I think that’s why they did it for you.
I do have a question. How did you put the overlay end to end with the “velcro” underneath if they instruct you to leave a 2” border then the underlay is obviously smaller than the carpet itself. So how did you do it?
PS love your reviews and updates. Thanks!

I purchased a Ruggable several years ago and had the same curling issue. I reached out to them and without any challenge at all they offered to replace the rug and they did not ask that I send my old rug back to them. They also said they were working on a solution and it would soon be available to solve this problem. SInce my return was a few years ago it seems they aren' t really working on a solution because they said the same thing to Oak Abode.

so glad you did an update. Because I really want to get these, and was worried about the curling. But with 4 cats, we would love washable rugs. We aren't into fancy rugs with a lot of fuzz and stuff for area with high traffic. It's more protecting the lovely wood floors. (When we put in the wood floors, we got a deal on Canadian real wood, sweet, but not so sweet with pets!) But thank yoU!!! and thank you ruggable.

The best thing about ruggables is that they are waterproof so if your dog peed, it won't soak through to the floor. My dog has issues and I love that you can wash them. I take the bottom piece outside and hose it off and it does not hold that smell in.

I've purchased two 5x7 covers and one underlayment. I agree, it can be frustrating with the edges curling. When I washed and dried my first cover, the edges curled a little but flattened out over time. Since then I have not put mine in the dryer. I let it air dry and have not had an issue with curling. I suspect the more you dry it in the dryer, the more it will curl. Fortunately for me, I live in Arizona. If I put it out to dry on a summer day (outside of direct sunlight) it dries in about an hour! In total, I have washed my first cover 3-4 times. The second one I have not washed yet. These rugs come in lots of great designs, but I agree they are a little pricey. They should be bout $50 cheaper IMO. I only when they go on sale, or I have a discount code. They are very thin, so you should turn off the beater bar on the vacuum or raise up the vacuum to the highest setting. I use a Roomba on mine with no issues. Since I have 2 dogs, it's great that I can wash them so easily. I haven't had any issues with customer service or shipping. The first one I ordered I received in about 1 week. I was surprised because the website quoted a much longer lead time. The second one took about 2 weeks. I will probably buy a couple more. I wanted to buy a large one for our living room, but the hubby wanted something more plush for that space. I would have been happy with the Ruggable. :)

Great review. You nailed it when you said you think the curling had to do with how it was laying on the mat under it. I thought the exact same thing when I saw your original review. I still love these and plane to purchase several once I get my floors re-stained. Happy reviewing =)

I'm excited to get one of those in the future (waiting for our elderly pet to cross that rainbow bridge), he is blind and he basically lives on our current rug and he would hate a change. But I do plan on installing clips on our rafters in the garage so we can hang dry it. Living in California means things usually dry really quickly in the garage. I will wait to see if they figure out the curling though.. I can't have that.

    • @OakAbode

  • @gilguajardo7808
    @gilguajardo7808 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Question regarding your new approach to not letting the rug “overhang” the under mat. Was your previous rug not centered over the mat, i.e., did you have it flush with the mat on one side and hanging over on the opposite side? I’m assuming the mat’s dimensions are slightly smaller than the rug’s dimensions. So how would it be possible to not allow as much overhanging as before, but also not have a bunch of slack in the rug?
Hope my question is making sense!

I own 3 ruggables. One of my rugs has curled so much on the edge that I have to really be cautious about falling. I’m a senior citizen and the reason I bought this type of rug was because I have pets and wanted to protect my hardwood flooring. After reading the ruggable reviews, I decided to take the leap. It’s disappointing that ruggable hasn’t resolved this.

  • @joiemccumbeesr126

Most efficient way to do it is to get a piece of PVC pipe. Once out of dryer roll it around pipe. Then line it up with the edges and it rolls out flat. Give it a shot. Being able to clean it is worth a lot when you have an older incontinent dog. Ruggable worth it for that alone. 8 x 10 is hard to do but still worth it to be clean and sanitary. I have washed mine 5 times and this makes it easier to put back down.

I had the same exact experience, Ruggable was lovely and sent a fresh one right away too. Just yesterday (about two weeks after having the fresh one) my puppy had an accident and I washed the rug again but didn’t dry it fully thinking that for sure it would dry flat and lay flat but NO!!! And I’m just so sad bc I love that darn rug but I can’t keep it with the edges curled up - it’s not safe - we have elderly parents and a toddler. Any other recommendations??? Your chances of having them replace everybody’s rugs for curling is probably as great of my chances of having my TV replace because it doesn’t have surroundsound but the new version does it’s called upgrading. We have a Ruggable Rug that is now stored in our attic. It didn’t hold up very well - curled edges, fading design, fraying, difficult to situate precisely on the bottom layer - it always showed on at least 1 side, which indicates shrinkage. Not a fan. Being able to wash the rug was great because we have pets, but having it shrink, curl, and fray was really disappointing. We didn’t reach out to Ruggable but maybe we should have.

Them sending you a new rug doesn’t address the issue. Does it? It’s just gonna happen again. Sounds like they’re just trying to silence you with swag. Thousands of people complained loudly about the curling issue. Why do only YOU get a replacement rug? Do you see how this reads sketchy on their part?

I roll my ruggable in reverse to put down when my partner isn't around to help me. It unrolls pretty easily this way as long as you have the space to roll it up somewhere else.

Haven't even used the rug. I ordered a bright cherry rug and got a full full dreary rug! Unacceptable!!

They should replace everyone’s curling rugs as they clearly said it was an issue. The color fades too? Totally not worth it nor the price. Nor the disappointment

The washable rug ads never mention the pad is not washable. So what do you do when pet urine seeps into the pad? For my 8x10 rug pad I had to take it outside to the driveway, squirt it off with soap and water, let it air dry, then sweep the underside that had driveway dirt/grass on it. During the winter I had to squirt it in my shower and hang it across my tub and shower causing creases and bumps in the pad. TERRIBLE and I would NOT purchase again!!!

It's nice of them to help you- but it's unfair that anyone without a youtube channel / inernet celebrity has difficult returning their rug for a refund. Again, just makes the company seem so inauthentic. Really disappointed with them.
