As practiced by laws in Thailand, radio and television stations nationwide play out the "Phleng Chat Thai", the country's national anthem. By this decree, Thais must stop what they are doing and stand at attention to pay homage to the anthem that was played out over loudspeakers in the streets, and even on all TV and radio outlets across the country, twice a day, at around 08:00 am and again at around 06:00 pm.

The National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) is the public broadcasting arm of the Government Public Relations Department (PRD), a division of the Thai Government.
Established in 1985, broadcasts of NBT officially began on 11 August 1988, as TVT11 - this came after MCOT TV-9 split into two channels. The station was firstly aimer at viewers in the countryside. 1 April 2008 came a shakeup within TVT11 under Mun Pattanothai - then the minister of Information and Communication Technology, as it starts to operate 24 hours a day. At the same time, the station was relaunched as NBT TV.
Under the supervision of the Thai Prime Minister’s office, NBT TV's missions focus on recommending priority issues and communicating state policies, plans and development with both domestic and international communities, and it also reflects the public needs and concerns of the country's government.
As a multimedia operator, NBT runs a variety of platforms, and it offers news and information with a goal to heighten public understanding of national events and crucial issues. Besides its nationwide network in Bangkok, NBT also provides four other local digital TV channels to serve local viewers in all regions.
