    The Honda is so quiet

    So, why compare a 1992 Stihl vs a 2017 Honda?

    • @SAVAGEPATRIOT
      @SAVAGEPATRIOT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because at the time I was considering making lots of TH-cam videos and I thought it may be an interesting comparison. I know it's not a fair head to head in any way but it's what I had at the time.

      @@SAVAGEPATRIOT Yeah but puts a bad name to Stihl. 2 stroke Stihls nowadays are much quiter than they used to be. But hey, nevermind

      @xgamerbih sounds good what would you recommend for 250 meters every 22 days? There is also an small land that I don't own but the owner does not cut the grass and it is super tall. I'm between Honda 4 mk450, sthil fs55, sthil fs120 or Makita v36 battery.

    I counted 20 'pulls' on the 2 stroke Sthil and just 3 on the Honda to start it, I have the Honda - an awesome machine, 20 years old.

    I’ll probably get a Honda or Echo. Everything I have ever used or owned by stihl always takes forever to start. You definitely have to get used to the stihl to get them started in my opinion

    Buy the Honda, slap a speed-feed head on it and you've got an outstanding trimmer. I replaced my Stihl FS56R with one, and I really enjoy it. The Stihl ran well, but it shook a lot and was quite a bit noisier. The Honda is smooth and much quieter.

    I own both a Stihl Fs130 and Honda Umk 435.Stihl has 1.9 hp and Honda 1.6.Stihl trimmer is noticeably torquier in lower and higher rpms.Honda is a lot smoother,starts easier and is quieter.I love them both.

    does anyone know if the Honda is geared higher so that the head spins as fast as the Stihl? You would think the 2 stroke head would spin faster but maybe Honda threw her into overdrive?

  • @briantii
    @briantii 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You should check out the Stihl 4 mix engines like the fs130. Starts faster / easier than either of those and has more power / torque than the Honda while weighing less. I think that’d be an interesting comparison.

      I've seen them they are very cool. I've even tinkered with the idea of getting the kombi head and the edger, trimmer and pole saw. But I definitely don't have the cash but I think that's the ultimate setup.

    I have the much older 31cc Honda string trimmer. I think it’s like 11 or 12 years old now. Still starts first pull unlike my brand new Honda 35cc Versattach power head which takes 2 or 3 pulls like yours. To be fair the 31cc has a button that holds the throttle in for one pull starts but I still think it is a better motor than the new Honda’s. For the Home owner that doesn’t mind some weight I would choose Honda all day long. For the older guy or the professional I would go with the Stihl but not the cheap ones they are junk. I bought a cheap 200 dollar Stihl for my father in law and it is a real piece of shit. Best part about the Honda is you can run it half throttle or less for most string trimming jobs due to the high torque and speed of the power head.

      I have the 22cc. Bought it in 1997. Starts 2nd pull at most. How many 23yo string trimmers still run, let alone do that? I've only just changed the spark plug for the second time. Not that I needed to, I just thought it was time. The only part failure has been the primer bulb.
      Certainly had my money's worth.

      Well if i had 40 acres of land to mow down maybe id pick up the Stihl and hold that sucker wide open throttle, no doubt they have insane power. Its that the Honda is a lot nicer for around my house and yard. Its quieter, smoother, easier to control rpms, overall a more enjoyable experience for me.
