Excellent. Thank you! After uninstalling Epson Scan app and installing Windows 11 driver from Epson I still got that cannot connect message. Tried other suggested fixes before finding your solution. I was a bit concerned about your level of detail on the items which needed attention, however I followed along, and found that you were correct.
