      Hi Kat! It was fun to play with for sure. There are even more designs I could make with this mat than what I showed in this video.

    You squeezed every penny you paid out of your rubber mat and turned it into wonderful textures. Thanks for sharing!

    The mug with the vertical ribbing reminds me so much of the ceramic containers that Victorian marmalade was sold in.

    Ann, thank you so much for this video. I just got my mat and have watched it many times. I have a question. On your mug handles, did you put a small coil around the top of the handle for support and do you do something similar for the bottom? Your presentation is so very nice. Good diction, measured pace, and you don't yuck it up with unnecessary chatter. A pleasure to listen to.

    • @LittleStreetPottery
      @LittleStreetPottery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Karen - the coil is SOMETIMES for support if I think the handle may be susceptible to cracking because of the design (thin etc) - but most of the time its just decorative and looking to echo some other design element of the piece. Thanks!

    Fantastic use of the textures and so many combinations. Loved the stamp 250! One question, how do stop the tiles from sticking? Looks like they lifted off easily.

    • @LittleStreetPottery
      @LittleStreetPottery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In fresh clay they didn’t stick at all...the rubber worked well with the clay!

    • @artgirlmermaid

      Dust a bit of corn starch on the mat and then brush off the excess

  • @mavisdavisify
    @mavisdavisify 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you dusted the mat with cornstarch before impressing into the clay I think it would release easier and prevent any distortion of your pattern.

    I have a Wilton cake mat similar to yours. Do you have any trouble with the clay sticking to it? You got great registration from the ribbed mat bits. Good job 👍 I used a similar mat I bought to replace the floor covering in my 1978 MGB.

    • @annruel9142
      @annruel9142 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John. I didnt have any trouble with the clay sticking. I have a feeling that if the clay would have been wetter, the rubber might have been difficult to release, but the clay right out of the bag was no trouble. If you try it and the clay sticks, try dusting the rubber with a bit of corn starch.

    I just wondered what size of pvc pipe you used. I have 4” but it looks like a mug would be huge. Off to the hardware store. Great video. Thank you

    • @LittleStreetPottery

      We used a 4” pipe...don’t forget shrinkage....they are big mugs but thought they needed to be to better show the texture.

    Anne, do you have detailed instructions on how to cut the ribbed mat to make the stampy250?

    May I ask, what kind of marker do you use to mark out the pattern on the back of the rubber mat? I just got my mat and want to start making designs, but all I have are black sharpies.
