  • It was only a matter of time before Ann resorted to cheap marketing tactics to get folks to watch her work. But these five projects are sure to spice up your creativity and inspire you to try and throw some new pieces without bottoms. Money back guaranteed if you don't like this one!
    If you would like to learn Ann's underglaze painting, glazing, and decorating process then check out Ann's Video Workshop Series. These workshops are very detailed (typically 1.5 - 2 hours in length) where Ann provides step by step instruction and are designed to help potters take their work to new levels of craftsmanship and artistry. vimeo.com/showcase/6725318

    Love this!! I would also be interested in the weight of the clay for each project…my fantasy is to be up to your level of excellence one day😂🥰❣️

    • @annruel9142
      @annruel9142 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      HI J! As far as the weight of the clay for the smaller pieces like the base and bowl of the chalice...I like to start with 1 pound . For the taller thinner pieces, I begin with about 1 1/2 pounds. For the planter which was wider and taller, I started with about 2 poundsl. Does that help? It is all just practice, right? The key is just not to give up, haha. I am still working on my throwing skills. I am not an elegant thrower, but I get the job done :-). Good luck in the studio!!!

    Another great learning tool/video. Thank you Ann. Do you have a link to the 'lily vase' template? I cannot figure out how it's cut. Thank so much.

    • @annruel9142
      @annruel9142 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tricia. I actually took a piece of newspaper. and cut a template from that. I just cut it like a sideways distorted "S" curve where the line peaks to a sharp hump at the top for the tallest part of the slab and then comes back down and then curves back upward for a smaller upward turn for the very center of the flower. There is no right or wrong way to make it really.

    i got a Freudian vibe from that first triangular vase: looked a bit like female anatomy to me.

    • @LittleStreetPottery
      @LittleStreetPottery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My husband said the same thing and I told him, “Sometimes a vase is just a vase”. He said, “Yeah, and sometimes a vase looks like an award for Gynecologist of the Year.

      @@LittleStreetPottery : hahahaha!!! it's good to know i am not alone in my Freudian interpretation of that vase. before you added the "bump" i thought, leave the corners of the turned back pieces flat so they look like an open collar, and add a man's tie in the bottom v section...but that's kind of Freudian too, hahaha!

    Some of these shapes would lend themselves really well to hand-building.. (*erm the lily vase), would you ever consider making templates for those of us who are less than creative in figuring these things out? Also, I miss the wheel.
