I wish stuff like this were more mainstream. I find that, even though I want to find it in my stream it is hard to find good content like this. Great work and I pray you continue it. Blessings.

Thanks, and I completely agree! That very idea is why I started making these videos. I love learning about all of this, and I have for a very long time! I hope that it makes more people interested and helps spark more people to dive into the immense and interesting topics that are out there.

I love This Saint because of His propagation of Marian Devotion that is how I came on here to have a look at his life🌹

Bernard spoke about Mary all throughout his life, from his schooling as a young boy, all the way through his time as a leader, he spoke often and positively of Marian theology.

Thank you. I found this video because I’m spending a week at a Cistercian abbey in Victoria, Australia from 5rh day of Christmas until Epiphany. Great to learn about their founder. Thank you.

That is amazing!! I am glad this video helped connect you to the history of the Cistercian order. I hope you are able to be in God’s presence during your time and draw closer to him as many followers have within the walls of Cistercian abbeys throughout history!

How I got here? I am working my way through the Catholic saints, and yours popped up on the search. Yours was one of the best documentaries on Bernard. Not too short, not too long. But a nice overview as a starting point.

How could his dad become a monk?

In theory, anyone at anytime can take a vow and become a monk. It often means giving up all your worldly possessions so sometimes this can be very difficult, but for Tescelin his wife (Bernard’s mother) passed away when Bernard was 19 so he was a widower. When Bernard started his journey into the monastic life he brought along a lot of his brothers, with most of his family leaving I’m assuming Tescelin decided that he would dedicate his life to the monastery since he didn’t have much in the way of family left outside of it. I don’t know the true deep longings that drove him to the monastery, but it seems to me that what I mentioned is the most likely reason for his father following his children into the monastic life.
