Ok im many years late. Its definately aint easy for 11-14 year old kids to sing live and dance at the same time. They arent perfect but this performance was actually good. I can hear a little harmonising. Good job!
Pete Waterman once said he'd never let any of his acts sing live on TOTP as the studio acoustics were awful. Plus back then no one used in ear monitoring
I think it's worth putting some context to this performance here. They sang live on the show when there was no expectation for them to, purely because the then producer of Top of the Pops (Michael Kelpie) kicked up a massive fuss about having to have them on when this single did so well, as much of the media at the time were so against the idea of them being in the industry when they were so young (all 10 - 14 at the time of this performance) hence why they got no radio airplay. But the S Club brand being as strong as it was at the time meant this was always going to be a huge hit regardless. And it was a great song - still is - and they nailed it here.

They were so good on the night in front of a sold out Manchester Arena, that I knew they were going to break through in their own right. I still listen to both groups from time to time and their music stands the test of time. They are both a huge part of the memories I have of listening to music with my children.
Omg, an actual live performance. Ok it doesn't sound amazing with all the dancing but I'd rather a band would sing live any day than a rubbish miming performance.
I thought they did a good job & I love s club 8, it was nice to see them singing live & not miming so well done to you & they were probably nervous it was there first song in the charts & I would have thought there first time on top of the pops I've seen them in later videos on top of the pops & they have got more confidence, I hope one day they will have a reunion & maybe get back together they were brilliant

Out of tune a lot, but I prefer this to their auto song. Now they would auto them singing live. meaning they can do auto tune automatically as they sing, so it comes out as being perfectly in tune.
No, they were just lucky. Calvin and Stacey had the potential to become solo stars and Daisy was in a great girl group that was mismanaged by Matthew Knowles
Stop top of the pops that was sang live by the girls . They did a 98 date world tour in 1998 and sang live . They sang live on the sold out stadium tour last year.. clearly not done your research have you ?🤣

Used to listen this a lot as a kid and I have to say I think it still stands up! The chorus in particular is very catchy and uses very disco chords.
