  • Building and painting the Type 2,5-32 (1.5 ton) German WW2 truck in 1/35 scale from ICM models. You can get the kit here: amzn.to/3wvsaXt
    These Opel Blitz trucks were light weight and medium weight trucks used throughout the war on all fronts. The Wehrmacht typically used these trucks for troop transport.
    ICM do a range of kits based on this chassis, including a fire truck version and an ambulance version. The version in this video is the standard general purpose version, which I decided to paint in German tricolour camouflage to represent a late war version.

    Very nice and easy build up! Not so nice is the visibility of the edges of the decals on the door, but that's always a problem. For writing I tried that with a 6k 3D printer. A 0.5 mm thick printout with spacer pins and "cut-out" writing as a brush template has proven its worth. Punching out of cardboard was very difficult and messy, with small writing almost impossible.

    Again a really nice looking model! Espacially the dust suit‘s this truck very well!
    Fun fact: the triangle on the roof top is only in the folded up position if a trailer is attached to the truck. This was even with civilian trucks in germany during the 50s, maybe the 60s also. Maybe you want to add one on the diorama, might look nice.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. Yes, I knew that about the triangle - I can't remember why I left it up. Maybe I did plan to add a trailer!

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a flip-up sign that indicates whether or not the truck is loaded, I believe

  • @statoilbensin2190

    Italeri also sells one of these, but I guess the ICM kit is the best version as I belive the Italeri one is old rebox.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, Scalemates is invaluable in these situations. Some companies are worse than others for releasing old toolings in new boxes (ahem...Airfix?)

    • @statoilbensin2190
      @statoilbensin2190 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModelNerd But Airfix has stopped doing this thankfully. Now its just Revell, Italeri, Zvezda and Tamiya who does it.

    • @mh53j
      @mh53j 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I built the Maultier version of the Italeri kit as a teenager in the 70s; it turned out really well, don't remember many problems; getting the cab aligned the biggest concern. Still have it in a display case.
      Have the standard truck in the stash.

  • @derekbaker3279
    @derekbaker3279 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That turned out great! 👍👍 The straight-forward camo scheme & subtle weathering suits the old-fashioned, 'civilian' look of the vehicle. A question: I don't know if you've built the Tamiya version, but if you have, could you share your opinion re how the two kits compare? I do see that it doesn't have those nasty & obvious ejection pin marks in the cargo bay! Thanks.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Derek. I haven't built the Tamiya version unfortunately, so I couldn't say. I imagine a lot of the smaller more fiddly parts of the ICM kit would be different on the Tamiya one though.
