My grandmother had an Aga here in Ireland, it had an extra 2 ovens to yours at the side, it was fuelled from the bottom with sticks and paper and coal, it heated most of her house, aswell as cooking and warming food, the best memories ❤❤

To Charlie I want to say: Don't put so much pressure on your interior design skills! I am a trained interior designer and also a collector and I know from my own struggles that it is very difficult to get the positioning of art pieces right when you don't know what your next found treasure will look like 😅 It becomes an ongoing process of changing things around. Otherwise you would have to wait until you have collected everything before you hang it on the walls. No way 😂 I think both of you have already done an amazing job creating your dream home! Keep going!

A good idea when hanging pics. Charlie is to cut paper the exact size of your picture spray the paper with spray mount (outside) and put onto the back of the picture then mark where the screw needs to be. Peel off and stick onto the wall and drill through the paper. Love watching you both!

A total control aga - they are amazing . We use ours all year round and can turn on what we need when- single hot plate, one oven etc. Takes longer than a standard oven to warm up but doesn't cause problems. Love it!

Hi Josie and Charlie, thank you as always for your lovely chatty vlog. I’m responding to your question about the new pieces of art work. I would completely reframe it with a matt that complements the colours and a rich coloured frame. The matt will give the painting an expansive look and draw the eye into the artwork.
Your beautiful wedding flowers could be put on an easel rather than trying to do any more to it. It would be easy to move when needed.

This was such a fun video! Loved the Hobbs pieces, the family store visit, brainstorming a spot for the new painting... Things can start to look a bit strange when rearranging after being used to having a room a certain way. I find it helps to rearrange where you think it'll look nice, then leave it for a few hours to a full day to allow the mind to adjust & see if you truly like it in the space - and my, what a stunning space your home is! I also appreciated your thinking that it's Harry Potter time- I agree. Cozy/spooky season is here!

The lovely old gold frame in your hall reminds me of the frames my dad used to source for his paintings. He used to do his own framing. I do like the flowers and what happened to our mysterious lady. I only have artwork up that my dad painted or has family connections and sentimentality.
So nice seeing your dad's shop! It reminds me of my granddad's drugstore. He was the only pharmacist in a very small Iowa farm town (pop. @1000). It had an old fashioned soda fountain that my mom liked being in charge of as a kid.

LOVE the new painting by the stairs. A deep burgundy on the existing frame will POP all those beautiful colors. It’s a fun bit of color theory magic. Excellent choice. The artist you’ve found is quite good. You may want to consider a different type of lightbulb. Paintings look best with a full spectrum light bulb. They’re not a cold light and make quite the difference.

I think the original Aga was fuel by coal or anthracite. Inventor was Swedish. My Grandmother had a small one. It kept the kitchen and house warm

With spare egg whites - make almond macaroons! Just whisk the egg whites and add caster sugar and ground almonds. 200 grams of sugar and 200 grams of ground almonds, per 3 whisked egg whites! Mix it all up and it makes a sticky but firm ish mix that you can roll into balls, add a whole blanched almond to the top and bake for 11-15 mins until golden and they are the most delicious snack!! Always go down a treat and naturally gluten free and uses up egg whites!

Omg I love your trip to NYC my old stomping grounds! I had a loft that was 1 block from the Empire State building I could look out the window and see it the rooftop views were insane. Good times. You look right in NYC. Charlie I just love that he is focusing on local artists there. I agree the painting he purchased is very nice it very much reminds me of Napa and California in general, it is very textured so it does benefit from being looked at from afar so if he can find a long corridor or a place where you can stand to view it from a longer distance it would look its best. I also agree with you all the textural painting that match would look great together. Where the sailboat painting is would be an amazing place for it. I love the fact Charlie is so house proud, thoughtful and into so many things! Most guys would be like meh, I don't care. The fact he saw and thought of you and your bouquet preservation in plaster!! OMG. That is genius. That is something that would become an heirloom for generations of children to come! No wonder you married him. In addition you keep him clearly well fed, living an organic life. You are also very attentive and enthusiastic with his endevours, what a great couple Awwwww 😊

Omg I adore that part of the world.....we were going to the Green man festival and we decided that we would go to Hay on wye for the literary festival the following year and we stayed in a tutor style building called "restfor the tired"andit didn't disappoint...the Black Mountains are stunning and I was in Book Heaven...100 or more bookshops... I fell in love...and then my dad told me that my great grandmother was born in Cliberary Mortimer nearby...so we went to the town hall to find our family records...highly recommend a visit ❤
