Have you found filming vertical video challenging? What things have you tried for your workflow?

Took a bit to get this one done. Adobe crashing and loosing work plus client work. Thanks for watching!

I had the FX3 but sold it and got the A7IV and actually like it "better" Seems sharper and better quality. I imagine bc it is down sampling from 8K instead of 4.6 K like the FX3. I started filming vertically but eventually usually go back to Horizontal and crop in. The resolution holds up good enough for reels and instagram. I hope it is just a fad bc reels are so un cinematic and cannot stand it.

The A7IV is a fantastic camera! I love the images that come out of it. Totally agree about the image quality and also about vertical video. But unfortunately I think it will be here to stay, or at least a while. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

Great video Jem. Awesome of you to share this with lots of people. I’m not sure if the FX3 has an open gate feature, which I also use in a 43 aspect ratio, which heals even more in this scenario.

Thanks for watching Mike! As far as I'm aware only some of the Panasonic's have that feature. But if there are any other cameras that do this I'd be keen to know.

@@jemlang I just realise what it is. I think it’s a feature that’s only compatible with cameras that have certain aspect ratios like 4 x 3 etc so it’s probably only on lower model cameras like micro 4/3

I think you’re probably on a better winner anyway because I would much prefer to have a full frame six or 7K scaled-down image then micro 4/3 open gate anyway

Yeah I’d prefer to have that resolution too. Chris Hau did a video few months back about filming in 4:3 on his Panasonic. I can’t remember what the model was though.
