  • I found an easy, cheap, and fast (unbelievable?) way to send money overseas, from other countries to Canada or the USA or from Canada to other countries. #wise #internationaltransfer #livingincanada
    I used to transfer money via bank wire transfer, but it wasn’t only expensive and took long, but it was also a hassle going to the branch just to transfer a small amount of money. In this video I’ll walk you through step by step how you can use WISE to save money and make your life easier.

    Really helpful video. I want to make a transfer from my US bank account to my Indonesian bank account. A few questions:
    - Is there a limit on how much we can transfer?
    - Is the entire transfer process done remotely? (I live in Indonesia now)
    - Might there be any legal repercussion using this intermediary vs wire transfer or ACH?
    This video has been really helpful as apparently I’ve found it quite hard to transfer internationally.
    I have a Bank of America account and their limit for wire transfer is $1,000 per day with $45 fee.

    Hello. What is the benefit of manually transferring funds from your bank account as opposed to having Wise do it for you?

    • @LivinginCanada
      @LivinginCanada  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's super fast (my transfers usually arrive the next day) and it's cheaper I believe. It works different from wire transfers at banks where the money actually crosses borders. Wise works a bit differently. They have an account in each of the countries they serve. So if I transfer money from another country to Canada, what I actually do is transfer money from my local account in that country to Wise's local account there. Once wise registers that, they will transfer the money from their account in Canada to my account in Canada. That's how I believe it works and makes the speed possible.

    • @LivinginCanada

      I'm assuming you want to transfer money from overseas to Canada. As far as I know you would need to open a Canadian bank account. Why not do that once you arrive here, and then process the transaction (you can do that as long as you can access your overseas online banking from Canada). Alternatively, you could send it to a family member/relative here, but you would need to include that information in the transfer.
