Him saying it while she looks like that is so perfect for this role… He says it at the moment that Monica obviously looks ridiculous, which is amazing because it shows he really loves her. Also, his commitment-struggle is shown perfectly. He says this as he isn’t looked at, he just blurts it out as if no one will ever hear it. I bet he would’ve been to scared to say it if he saw her eyes.. it’s so perfectly written and played out❤️
My only issue is that, in later episodes they make it look like he never said it ? The episode where pheobie and Rachel mess with them , chandler says it like it's new ? So I'm confused .
@@bexproctor360 ohhh I get what you say but that it's different. When he says it there he is very confident about it and he says in front of everyone... here he denies right after and panic 😂
The fact that Chandler said I love you to Monica looking like that doing his little dancy thing…. She knew she couldn’t look worse and yet he said he loved her, she knew how real that must be.
The first Thanksgiving at the Gellers was in 1987 and the second was a year later in 1988. The show started in 1994. I love the Thanksgiving flashbacks and I love Chandler & Monica. Chandler's "I love you" was so sweet and natural. And yes, I think a big reason for Monica becoming a chef was because of Chandler. I was never a fan of the Rachel and Danny storyline. Rachel just looked so desperate, kind of how she was with Joshua. Fun facts: Chandler bouncing up in the air when Monica sits on the couch in the flashback was suggested by Matthew. Chandler's toe being severed was a play on the fact that Matthew was missing part of his right middle finger. Matthew grew a goatee specifically for the scene where Joey scared him with the turkey. Also, Chandler's haircut during the first flashback at Ross and Monica's parents house resembles the style made popular by 1980s band A Flock of Seagulls. In the second flashback Ross and Chandler are wearing outfits inspired by the characters from Miami Vice. Joey getting the turkey stuck on his head is a reference a Mr. Bean episode called "Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean".
@MrEvers I think it's that she is just so desperate to try to move on from Ross. With Joshua, she was trying to prove that she was at the same place Ross was with Emily. Then she ends up basically ending things with Ross, so she continues to be desperate for love to prove she is over him and capable of being with someone else.
My friend presented her thesis recently and she asked us to give her a sign in case we heard her speaking too fast. So we printed little pics of Ross in those different scenes where he does "the quiet down thing" and put some sticks back to rise them, it was really funny
There are so many great references in the Monica flashbacks. The 80s fashion, the Ross and Carol jokes and pretty much everything that jack and Judy say.
I love that you love Chandler and Monica so much! It's a nice break from the drama between Ross and Rachel, not a big fan of the "will they won't they"
My personal favorite of all the Friends Thanksgiving Specials (and there are many great, iconic FriendsGiving events)! The lore behind Chandler's hatred of the holiday expands! And Fat Monica is so adorably innocent and joyful. And technically the first Mondler "I love you?" Close enough. (My cousin texting my mom a gif of Monica Dancing with the Turkey / Fez Hat / Sunglasses one Thanksgiving is how said cousin learned that I'm a Friends Fanatic, and the reason why I have SO much Central Perk merch in my bedroom from every time said cousin goes thrift-shopping and keeps me in mind, lol.)
Man, if I put a million dollars on the line and gave you the rest of time to do it, you would still NEVER guess what happens with the Rachael and Danny thing. I'm looking forward to you seeing it.

At this point in the show's run, schwimmer is in full Rose-A-tron mode creating a new, 'nother one for the time capsule, instant classic memorable schtick on a weekly basis. I remember reading at the time in Entertainment Weekky that despite pursuing a movie career as they all were every summer hiatus, they were all committed to the series till the wheels come off. And he, specifically, year five of the show had a season long running bet with the show's writer's room that whatever vague non-descipt piece of business they give him to do in that weeks script, no matter how deliberately sparse and purposely unhelpful in stage direction, he would create something iconic and comedy gold by showtime on tape night. He fed on the personal challenge as a performer and to not rest on his laurels as they all got more established. This is how we got future classics as the leather pants in a bathroom bit and his one word battle cry matra moving a couch which will become his rosetta jewel in Schwinnmer's season 5 crowning achievement spinning legendary show moments conjured from out of whole cloth. Red Rose lives!!
Ross and Chandler go from A Flock of Seagulls (song: I Ran) to Miami Vice (Crockett & Tubbs are on the case). The 80s were a great time for fashion! 🤣🤣🤣
I've seen this show many times over, but it wasn't until half a second before you pointed it out that it occurred to me, Rachel _does_ sail, idk why she would say she doesn't. Maybe she just meant that she doesn't race.
@@christopherb501 The structure is usually the same. A group of friends reunite to reminisce. The only difference is whether those memories are new to the audience or not.
Fun fact: Chandler losing his toe was made because Matthew Perry had an incident in kindergarten when he was 3, where his finger got slammed in a door. As a result he lost the tip of his finger. But it doesn’t end there, about 6 years later when he was 9 he was on a plane and in those days (before 9/11) you were allowed to go into the cockpit and look around. He was astonished by the buttons and controls he forgot to hide his finger. The pilot saw his finger and looked at it and it turned out the pilot was missing the exact same amount of one of his fingers. I read about it in his memoir, it’s absolutely heartbreaking but so inspiring to read, I would recommend it to anyone.
My friends moved into a tiny house after they got married, and their bedroom is essentially a loft. They have to climb a ladder to get into bed. They bought a larger house right across the street from where they live now because the wife is pregnant (the ladder situation isn’t going to work too good.) He has learned the house is more of a fixer upper than he realized. 😂 She’s due in October…The baby is going to spend part of her life in that tiny house lol 🙄😂
True but I don’t think she’s uninterested because he’s single, but more seemed to recognize after Emily that perusing a relationship with him, single or not, isn’t a great idea in general. Like I think she still loves him but realizes it’s not the best time
I case the other comments don't make it clear, Chandler's 80s haircut is based on one of the band members of the group "Flock of Seagulls" who had a couple of hits back on those days
He didn't forgot. He just didn't know that it wasn't an accident but part of a plan to humiliated him as a revenge. I mean, that's how I've always seen the story.

Hey, I know you mostly watch movies and whatnot, but if you are looking for a game series that I genuinely think would perfectly fit your personality for TH-cam, I highly recommend the Ori games. They tell a stories that feel a lot like Pixar films on an emotional front, and they are good fun to play. I understand if this isn’t your thing, but it will always be an option lol. Love your content regardless!

It pains me when people don't get that joke, it's one of the smartest jokes on the show 😂😂
I've watched friends like 5 times already(front and back). But somehow I never noticed that one before xDD
What does it mean?
Knowing how scared Chandler is of commitment and seeing him say "I love you" first is so heartwarming. ❤
