- Peter Quill truly is something else. I imagine Chris Pratt doesn't really have to act that much because they're basically the same character on and off the screen.

Honestly, no matter how many stupid things he's done, you cant help but feel bad for him. He lost his mum as a child, had to kill his biological father, watched his father figure die in front of him and lost his girlfriend to a purple shrek only for her to come back with no memory of him. He really needs a win
He also lost yundo he's only father figure and got kick out in the ravagers which his only family before the GotG made

Actually not true. James Gunn believed it was an accident but Chris Pratt later said he dropped it on purpose because he thought it fit the character.

Except he literally used the name Earth himself in the previous movie when explaining his heritage to the Sovereign and they seemed to know what he was talking about.
Personally, I like to think he was testing Tony with that comment. Until that moment nothing about the situation would have suggested to Quill that Tony's group was human. He thought he was fighting Thanos' alien soldiers, who would have just accepted that correction and then had less accurate information on him. By knowing that Missouri was on Earth, Tony proved himself a human, possibly the first Quill's met since he left home. This would be a bigger deal than he let on.

Just as much as fans hated Starlord for screwing up in Infinity War, he is just a dude who had enough of losing loved ones
I specifically hate the brand synergy of ACU Star-Lord. On his own, the character is fine; but as an adaptation...the studios gradually let the ball slip.
I never hated Peter at all for what happened in Infinity War, in fact, I didn’t even know people hated on him when it happened in Infinity War
I found out people hated him when gotg 3 was coming out
Those MCU fans who hated starlord for what he did were generally mainstream audiences which most of them didn't even read comics(that's a high bar for them,most MCU fans became MCU fans cause it became popular and trendy)
And many of them didn't even watch GOTG movies...I myself convinced three of my fellow MCU fan friends to watch GOTG and argue with them supporting DC(I generally am just a low tier comic fan who likes everything),and man isn't it ironic...
