Thank you for clarifying the distinction between converter and adapter! I'll be traveling to Chile next month and bringing my iPhone 6 Plus. The Apple squared charging cube I have does say Input 100 - 240V, so I believe I'll only be in need of an adapter. Any recommendations? Thanks! Mario

Thank you for the video. I have a question about the plugs for Italy, do I need a three-pin plug or the 2-pin plug would work? And if the 2-pin plug works, how do you connect the plug in the Italian type of socket?

If your device has two pins then two pins is OK. The middle hole is always the earth. You leave it out. If your device has three pins then you should use a three pin one that connects the earth. However, in practice the only such thing you carry is a laptop charger that is plastic so the grounding is really unnecessary. Of course yo you just get a new cable to the laptop.

Thank you i will call you in one year,...but i have a question. The adapter is universal as the prongs have the various size changes ,but what about the converter is that too universal?

    • @PackingLightDotCom
      @PackingLightDotCom  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grace Onzo
The converters we sell are not universal. They only allow an American style prong to plug into the converter and the converter will have two prongs (continental Europe) to plug into the wall. This will only be a problem for you if you don't have an American style plug.
      Hope this was helpful!

Is there any time limit when using the device to recharge laptop, mobile phones, tablets, cameras, etc? Similar devices are described to be used for limited time (10 min) which would not be enough to recharge the items.

If a device has this time limitation , it means the device is dangerous & forbidden ( = fire hazard) ... CE = infamous "China Export" or when mechanical at least has planned obsolescence ( = plastic gears made for the dump ) build in ...
Cheap adapters (or expensive sold cheap adapters) are damn dangerous ... search on the internet including read negative recension first !
Same applies to any power supply ... also cheap = dangerous & forbidden
also be careful with the USA- style plugs & sockets , they are a fire hazard & shock you often ... because No recessed Sockets (like in European ones) & no pin shield es plug (like UK ones )

What about traveling to Vietnam? Which adaptor do I need?

    • @PackingLightDotCom

Thanh Ha PackingLight.com thanks you for watching! For Vietnam, you would need our B and D adapter plugs when plugging in dual voltage appliances. You will also find the American outlet in Vietnam. If you have any questions regarding foreign electricity, please give us a call at (800) 349-0525.

At this point in time, more and more gadgets are USB. Then all you'll need is a multi USB charger (I have never heard of one that isn't multi voltage, but still check), preferably one with a loose power cable, which is a standard used in other countries, so you could even replace the cable if you'll be in another country for a long time. Camera battery chargers are now increasingly being sold as USB powered. My camera didn't come with a charger, and a mains charger is much bigger than a USB charger. On the other hand, I've lost multiple chargers abroad, including two multi USB ones, so bring at least one spare. Last time I lost one single charger and one multi charger due to failure.

Is there any voltage converter that will convert both the voltage and frequency to emulate U.S electric wall socket power? One that not only will convert the voltage but will also convert the frequency to 60HZ necessary to get my American hair clippers running.

it will be much to expansive & also to big & heavy to use it for traveling
      Note: Japan has 50 Hz & 60 Hz (depending where you are) @ 100 Volts & USA-plugs
      TIP:
      a) use devices that does not care about frequency & are dual voltage
      b) borrow the device at the destination

50Hz clock runs very fast at 60Hz (using 220V 50Hz clock radio in the Philippines on 220V at 60Hz)
60Hz clock will run very slow at 50Hz (using 120V clock radio in Jamaica on 110V at 50Hz).
I can use my US alarm clock radio in the Philippines using step down 50w transformer.
I can also use my European alarm clock radio in Jamaica using step up 50w transformer.

That UK plug is not legal, it has no insulating sleeves around the pins, it also looked like it had no fuse, nor would it met dimensional requirements.

the actual UK-plug & socke is legal & save to use, because of the insulated pins , its the one with the 3 big rectangle holes / pins
the round 3 pin is the OLD UK-plug from pre-1945 & illegal in most countries where its no longer standard - all USA-plugs have the same problem
