    This tutorial is genius! Thanks Dave. What I love about these techniques is they're Fundamental. If you can do this in Photoshop, you can find a way to do the same in Gimp and other software.
    Inkscape + Gimp = One-Two Punch.
    Inkscape + Gimp + Scribus = One-Two Punch and Uppercut.

    Your technique is great, I was using using the noise reduction filter for all my photos and this is uncomparable!

    Fantastic video.
    1-what is the option for smart objects?
    2-when i transform text, it becomes raster. How to solve this issue?

    • @csmemarketing
      @csmemarketing 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A1 - No Smart Objects yet. Photoshop didn't have Smart objects until CS3. So, Vet's know how to get along without it.
      A2 - Gimp does not have Lossless Text Transform. What I do is edit my Gimp text until it's the size I want, then make a Duplicate of that text. Hide the original, then scale, rotate, do whatever you want with the Copy of your text.
      If you're working on a project for print then you should not be using text in Gimp. Use Gimp for Photos, Backgrounds, and use Inkscape for Text and Layout.
      Inkscape will give you the best final Layout.

    Hi Davies thanks for sharing the valuable information. As of now i learned about photoediting by watching your videos on GIMP. As mentioned in your first tutorial of 10 photo editing steps where to fit denoise process sequence to get better final photo editing result.
    pl. suggest.
    thanks once again.

    hi, thanks for this tutorial! i have a question about how to save the image at the end, should i merge all the visible layers and then save? or should i export the last layer where all the smoothing has been done and save it without the "original" layer?

    I have usually been denoising in my raw editor. Do you think it better to denoise before wavelet decomposing in gimp or after?

    • @patlab555
      @patlab555 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perso, I _denoise_ and sharpen at the very end of post-processing a picture. I take as a rule of thumb that everything we do during a post processing can/will generate noise/degrade an image, _denoising_ an image will always soften it, thus remove/hide/smooth artifacts
      I did not say that I never denoise during processing, but it will not be the _denoise_ that I do at the very end (then I sharpen only what needs to be sharpened)
      It's just my way ;)

    im confused about the second part, removing the luminance noise, the smooth filters in gmic just smooth my whole image making it look blurry, if i slide the strength of the smoothness down to the point where it doesnt affect the object of the image it just doesnt really do anything

    Enjoyed the video. However, GMIC Artistic Smoothing is way over the top and artificial-looking. Smooth Guided works really well.

    Too many layer steps if you want to mass reduce noise in a lot of photos. You can pay under $70 for something like Affinity Photo or Neat Image stand-alone denoiser.

    There, I just saved you guys 7 minutes
    If I wanted to waste that much time I would have read the gimp documentation
