I don't know if you watch The Yorkshire Auction House, Which is only up the road, Angus is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, going there is really a great day out, you can have a look at the auction, and then go to the Gavel & Bean cafe and have a lovely meal. I was on a holiday in Yorkshire in 2016 and drove through Thornton without knowing that Matthewson's existed (probably before the TV series had started). My first reaction to the time-capsule look was "wait - what??" - I stopped, had a good look around and rated it the discovery of the day...
If you keep going straight on that road where you started you head to another little village called Pickering. Just before Pickering youll see an Premier Inn and just besides that is where Matthewsons keep their cars 👍
I am sure you are right. I was an avid watcher of Heartbeat and remember it in an episode. It was the best programme on TV , Stayed in Goathland a few times at the Mallyon Spout, Wonderful place
Yes there is plenty of parking, If you get to the traffic lights after you have passed Mathewson's on your left, Turn right at lights and there is parking on your left
We visited last April 2023. Was my hubby’s 60th birthday and Dave gladly had a photo with him. Absolutely marvellous 👍🏻😂

I was there on Thursday with my family. The staff were great with my little boy making a real fuss of him, it is a lovely place to visit.
This was filmed the other week, Derek Mathewson was darting around,very busy as usual but had the time for a quick chat, A very nice man

I live just around the corner from the larger Pickering dept and regularly speak to the various Matthewsons.
