Bizarrely, his mother (Ellie Darvill) actually provided the voice of the "Whybird" on the BBC's "Playbus" programme, which was basically a reinvention of "Playschool".
I really can't believe there aren't many UK kid channels anymore which is crazy first Pop Girls removed then Kix, and now CITV channel is gone forever, why are they doing this because if they keep removing kids channel then there won't be any past cartoons/anime on freeview freesat to watched. What has happen to the old days when there are more cartoons to watched on the weekend just like in the 90s/ 2000.
It seems that the next generation just doesn't watch 'linear' TV any more, preferring on demand services. Of course, getting rid of all channels that might appeal to that generation only perpetuates things. It's a real shame.
I loved to hate Grotbags when I was younger. Shows what an amazing job Carol Lee Scott did god rest her soul. I loved T-Bag too. Elizabeth Estensen was brilliant in that and although she’s since left Emmerdale she’s one of my favourite actresses of all time.
Michael: Roland what are some of your embarrassing moments? Roland Rat: Saving TV-am That was embarrassing and when it got rebranded into GMTV 10 years later, that was even MORE embarrassing!
So happy to see this here! I used to have this recorded on VHS but lost the tape long ago and don't have a VCR at present so this is brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing, I thought I'd never see this again and it was so fun and nostaglic.
I also recorded this on VHS, brought back a lot of memories of my childhood, there were a few good shows they missed out like, Harry's Mad, Fantomcat, Get Wet, Just Us, Legends of Treasure Island, CITV was the best back then for me!
What a (just over a) hour of pure delight! As usual they mised a trick by not making this celebration an official release on dvd or indeed video at the time. So much to enjoy in this and still room to celebrate more as was proven with the Old Skool weekend.
+mashibinbin I think it such a shame that they only seem to open up their archives for this sort of thing once every ten years! There's so much great stuff I doubt we'll ever see again.
When Gary said he did the commercial break announcer links in the Midlands he’s probably referring to his time being the announcer for former ITV1 regional network Central Television
For some unknown reason, the crowd cheering sound effect from CITV and CBBC continuity in the late 90s-early 2000s was used in the Cheerleader Darcy sketch in one of the recent episodes of the All That revival on Nickelodeon.

With Saturday mornings my fav was Ghost Trian I was a contestant on the gameshow Skull I didn't do Round 1 cause I had a phobia of gunge they understood so I watched the first round from the Ghost Trian studio while my friend did the first round he only got one question wrong
Sounds like a fun day out! Was your bit recorded in advance, or were you there live? I've got some clips from a 1991 edition of Ghost Train on my channel here, if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/ZMO5Lgn_fFo/w-d-xo.html (P.S. You don't happen to still have a recording of your episode, do you? They're tremendously rare.)
I don’t have any recording from it I’m not sure if it was live or recorded in advance they only information I know you may already know Ghost Train was made by Anglia Television Skull however was not that came from Tyne Tees there was a Sunday morning version solely made by Border not sure if it was networked they had a game show too called The Haunted Dungeon I wasn’t on this but I do have information about it. From an upper level the host would pull a lever and a the contestant would have slide down a slide while they were sliding down you would hear a pre recorded scream once they reached the bottom they were greeted by a puppet and set a task the contestants always failed I don’t know what prize was had the task been completed so as they failed they were told to stand under a certain spot and gunge would be dropped on them the colour of gunge contested with the colour of the T-shirt to make it look rather bad
Our Lips are Sealed aired that afternoon the only show to broadcast that afternoon by the 7th January 2003 it went back to normal and changed location by September the same year new studio and a new presenter
+FunnyChap1994 You're very welcome indeed (and credit to Lee for providing the recording). It's a no to both questions, I'm afraid. Sorry about that. (I for one am hoping that soon someone somewhere is going to unleash a whole heap of SM:TV Live onto the world, but it doesn't seem to have happened yet...)
When Danielle’s video message comes on, wha Musical did she say she was doing because she couldn’t make it into the studio? Was she doing Snow White in Disney on Ice Cinderella or something/\?
What musical was Danielle Nicholas attending when she couldn't attend to be in the studio? Al, I know is Stephen couldn't make it because he was doing the Jack and the Beanstalk musical.
I'm pretty sure it was the producers that told the audience to boo because let's face it, she wasn't really an evil character - anyone who gives kids decent prizes is alright in my book!
+jeffrey44 A clip from Danger Mouse got automatically detected, which is particularly odd as the exact same part can be seen here: th-cam.com/video/iNEa8Iia6pI/w-d-xo.htmlm There's also a little incidental music that's been lost along the way. Otherwise, it's intact, so grab it while you can. :-)
Because for some reason that's the one and only thing that tripped the copyright detectors, and it wasn't worth taking any chances for the sake of a 30-second clip. Especially as it's available to see in this upload, which has cut out a million other things, but not Danger Mouse: th-cam.com/video/iNEa8Iia6pI/w-d-xo.htmlm1s
Now there's a real forgotten retro gem. If I find any clips or episodes, I'll upload them - but don't build your hopes up too much. It seems like one of those shows that's doomed to the archives forever.
Yea that programme was so fun bit at times dark to very dark, Well talking about archives Last time I saw anything on Erasmus Microman was on a programme on ITV called: You Saw Them Here First back in 2014 with actor Nick Pickard talking about his career-There was an intro + an episode of it on youtube like 7 years ago but then got taken down due to copyright I take it you didn't see that ITV programme then, There are a couple of videos on here that been uploaded that say Erasmus Microman is next after the break and another one with 80's ITV children's presenters like Andy Crane + Jeanne Downs etc...But it cut about 10 seconds before it was about to come on and another one just flashing up green saying-ERASMUS MICROMAN ON NEXT with Scally the Dog
Oh, it's *soooo* frustrating when something which never in a million years is going to get an official release is blocked by TH-cam. I mean, I know they're within their rights and all that, but everyone would be better off if they simply monetised it instead. Nevertheless, I'm sure _someone_ out there will have a copy - it's just finding it!
I don't understand why it never got officially released back in the day for VHS or for DVD later on as it was popular, Yea they are within their rights to do so but it's so hard to find Last time I saw anything on Erasmus Microman was on a programme on ITV called: You Saw Them Here First back in 2014 with actor Nick Pickard talking about his career like I said before...Did you watch that?? I remember it used to be on from 4.50-5.15 before Knightmare and sometimes before Loony Tunes I did have some episodes of series 1 + 2 on VHS but my stupid sister taped over it by mistake even though I had my name on it saying Mikes tape-She wanted to tape her bloody programmes that she forgot to record so took first VHS tape that was lying around grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-This was back in 2003
Michael tries to say "ship" but malfunctions and messes up the last letter. You can tell from Leah's reaction that she definitely picked up on it, but they plough on regardless. Live TV, eh? :-)
I have to be honest this wasn't the greatest, the hosting was bad, the poor kid in the grotbags baking segment looked like he was about to burst into tears, it just seems quickly thrown together and not much rehearsal. It showed by 2003 how much itv cared about citv by then. I am right in thinking the Scally voice actor wasn't the same as the original, I know it was shared and John Eccleston did the voice at some point. The female host asking Elizabeth Estensen if she had met Grotbags before, I thought she might reply well no as she was in Nottingham and I was in London.
I wish citv was like this today

@@VideotapeFTW: Sounds good dude, I do appreciate the help! All I ask in return is if you do find a full episode of Citv’s Finders Keepers from 2006 is let me know when you posted it so I can find it. That’s all I ask dude
@@nathanbyberg Yep - I'll try and remember that. Here's hoping something turns up!
What is that prize pack tha Keha and Michael announced that was up for grabs during the program?

With Saturday mornings my fav was Ghost Trian I was a contestant on the gameshow Skull I didn't do Round 1 cause I had a phobia of gunge they understood so I watched the first round from the Ghost Trian studio while my friend did the first round he only got one question wrong
Sounds like a fun day out! Was your bit recorded in advance, or were you there live? I've got some clips from a 1991 edition of Ghost Train on my channel here, if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/ZMO5Lgn_fFo/w-d-xo.html

1:53 what Matthew Kelly January 1983 closedown is that from? Is that early January or late January of that said Year? And if so, what day?
I remember Andrea Arnold had a thing for Mark Granger.
AMAZING! Thank you for uploading this. I don't suppose you have any episodes of STARStreet do you? Or anything from SMTV Live with Ant, Dec and Cat.
A year or so on, it turns out that by "no", I actually mean "yes": th-cam.com/video/SESz1pINx60/w-d-xo.html
VideotapeFTW, SM:TV Live/Gold with Brian, Tess, H, Claire etc are so rare to find these days; even the reunion didn't cover their era.

When Danielle’s video message comes on, wha Musical did she say she was doing because she couldn’t make it into the studio? Was she doing Snow White in Disney on Ice Cinderella or something/\?
Not even a mention of Rainbow, Button Moon or even The Trap Door :(
I think Thomas the Tank Engine and Mike and Angelo are also conspicuous by their absence.

What musical was Danielle Nicholas attending when she couldn't attend to be in the studio? Al, I know is Stephen couldn't make it because he was doing the Jack and the Beanstalk musical.

Blimey I don't remember Andi Peters as CITV host
11:10 OMG!
46:23 Which Harry snd the Wrinkleys actor is that?
I don't know why people always boo at Carol Lee Scott come on guys give her respect she's just pretending to be evil that's what actors do
To be fair, I think even Carol herself encouraged it - she was a panto-style villain, after all.
I'm pretty sure it was the producers that told the audience to boo because let's face it, she wasn't really an evil character - anyone who gives kids decent prizes is alright in my book!
1:01:49 YES!
What Musical was Danielle Nicholas participating in when she couldn’t make it to the studio for the anniversary party?
Good question - I'm sure someone out there must know (I hope)...
I think it was the panto, Snow White
i was born in 1983 pls can someone upload roland rat and grot bags series pls

What song is the clip of Andrea green as floss from?
At 58:16? I honestly don't know whether it was an actual release or just something they did for the show. But I'd love to find out, too. :-)

Hey Arnold
What was the name of the CITV announcer guy from 1998-2004
What, you mean Stephen Mulhern?
What was in the 30 seconds you removed and what point(s) was it from?
+jeffrey44 A clip from Danger Mouse got automatically detected, which is particularly odd as the exact same part can be seen here: th-cam.com/video/iNEa8Iia6pI/w-d-xo.htmlm
There's also a little incidental music that's been lost along the way. Otherwise, it's intact, so grab it while you can. :-)

Smtv Live
In the 1980s montage why did you cut out the clip of Danger Mouse?
Because for some reason that's the one and only thing that tripped the copyright detectors, and it wasn't worth taking any chances for the sake of a 30-second clip. Especially as it's available to see in this upload, which has cut out a million other things, but not Danger Mouse: th-cam.com/video/iNEa8Iia6pI/w-d-xo.htmlm1s
Why was their no mention of Erasmus Microman, As that was on before Knightmare on ITV, Do you have any clips of it at all?
Now there's a real forgotten retro gem. If I find any clips or episodes, I'll upload them - but don't build your hopes up too much. It seems like one of those shows that's doomed to the archives forever.
Yea that programme was so fun bit at times dark to very dark, Well talking about archives Last time I saw anything on Erasmus Microman was on a programme on ITV called: You Saw Them Here First back in 2014 with actor Nick Pickard talking about his career-There was an intro + an episode of it on youtube like 7 years ago but then got taken down due to copyright
I take it you didn't see that ITV programme then, There are a couple of videos on here that been uploaded that say Erasmus Microman is next after the break and another one with 80's ITV children's presenters like Andy Crane + Jeanne Downs etc...But it cut about 10 seconds before it was about to come on and another one just flashing up green saying-ERASMUS MICROMAN ON NEXT with Scally the Dog
I don't understand why it never got officially released back in the day for VHS or for DVD later on as it was popular, Yea they are within their rights to do so but it's so hard to find
Last time I saw anything on Erasmus Microman was on a programme on ITV called: You Saw Them Here First back in 2014 with actor Nick Pickard talking about his career like I said before...Did you watch that??
I remember it used to be on from 4.50-5.15 before Knightmare and sometimes before Loony Tunes
I did have some episodes of series 1 + 2 on VHS but my stupid sister taped over it by mistake even though I had my name on it saying Mikes tape-She wanted to tape her bloody programmes that she forgot to record so took first VHS tape that was lying around grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-This was back in 2003

The studio pieces seem really messy with them all talking over each other...
+Tularis Yeah, a couple of good Roland gags get lost in the mix if you're not listening really carefully. That's live TV for you, I suppose.

No Mike & Angelo????? Criminal! Also what was the rude word at 2:12? I've played it a few times and don't hear anything
