Please do not get confused with Indonesian food coz they aren't the same. Nasi padang and nasi kandar are two distinct food. The taxi driver was correct about the food. Nasi kandar is from penang. I was born in johor but actually I prefer penang food. Nasi kandar besides penang is franchise or not authentic. It maybe tasty but penang nasi kandar is beyond this world.
You are right, there is no such thing as a free meal in aviation. 11 dollars flight would be great if you travel light. Your family has huge luggages. Just be careful with budget airlines including air asia and batik air.
korma cooking originate from nothern indian/pakistan = indus valley and went to southern india and being brought by south indian traders back then at 1786 ++ to penang and become nasi kandar influence to penang and been brought to johor nasi kandar
I love nasi kandar yum. I saw it avail all over KL. I think as a foreigner we would enjoy it anywhere, doesn’t have to be penang as we aren’t experts 😂
I find it interesting how in all the vlogs tourists in Johor make, they're never exploring the Malaysian Chinese food scene. Johor has a large ethnic Chinese population and the food is amazing. There are so many great restaurants in Taman Century, Taman Pelangi, Mount Austin etc. If you spice-averse, Chinese food might be a better fit. Try out the roasted pork, barbecue honey pork belly (char siu), san low beehoon, stir-fried radish cake (chai tow kway), kway teow kia (from restrain hi wan), wat tan hor (cantonese fried flat rice noodles in egg gravy), hainanese pork chops, and hokkien fried noodles (from pou wok lou restaurant). The list goes on and on... There is a big mix of different dialect groups when the Chinese came to Malaysia/Singapore. Combined with local influence, you get the Malaysian Chinese food we know today. The food I have mentioned can trace its roots to Hakka, Hokkien, Teowchew, Hainan culture, and can get a taste of it all just in one city. Chinese Malaysian food is not marketed well, or at all by the Johor tourism board - probably one of the reasons why most tourists do not end up trying these foods. Most johorean Chinese are also educated in Chinese, and do not consume English media on TH-cam, hence most recommendations TH-camrs get are probably of the local Malay/indian cuisine.
Yeah that is interesting. I appreciate the tips. I will check that out. I did try Malaysian fish head curry at a local spot. I did a cantonese breakfast video as well in KL that we will post.
Enjoy Johor. Although not much food varieties. You guys might wanna go to Penang or Sarawak or Sabah next time. Oh ya feel sorry for the baggage costs issue. Always remember when booking for economy airlines even Full fare Malaysia Airlines now charge extra for luggage. The customer rep at the checkin counter should help out you can still purchase luggage through website for a lot cheaper. than paying at the counter.
Wow the baggage costs were crazy. Do you recommend air asia over air batik then for more reasonable baggage fees? I’ve only flown air asia + noticed i could save money if i pay the baggage fee when i book the ticket rather than purchasing online before our flight, seems to cost more as separate purchase after 😅
It is better not to speak BI in malaysia. Stick to your English. Not many people understand it. We understand malay of course but not BI. Some malays may hv no issue. But not non malays in malaysia. If you want to practice BI, wrong place to try. It is like you are French, but wants to practice it in Sweden or Norway.
Johor is never known for food (except seafood). And I dislike laksa johor. Prefer penang laksa. Maybe you can do the heritage walk downtown (chinese food). Singaporeans come over for chinese food. Cafes, seafood.
There's a ton of great Chinese restaurants in Johor that Singaporeans spend hours in traffic every week to come eat at. Restaurant Pekin, Ah Meng Restaurant, San Low Seafood, Restaurant Teck Sing. I could go on and on. Just look at food blogs like Johorkaki, and articles from eatbook.
Selalu setia menunggu vlog nya.

Travelling from KL to JB, cheaper and easier to travel by bus.
