Excellent series. One has to feel sorry for the 503 paratroopers getting the rotten deal, left behind along with Filipino guerrillas to fight the rest of the battles until the end. Also great job mentioning the fact that the 503 also fought elite Japanese Army paratroopers of the 2nd Raiding Brigade. My quick research indicated it was their 3rd Raiding Regiment who deployed to Negros as reinforcements, only less than 100 men but included a heavy weapons company. They arrived 3 months before the US landings, enough time to set up guns and heavy weapons up those ridges. Only 30 Japanese paratroopers in Negros survived to surrender at the end of the war. Quite a unique situation in the Philippines where US airborne troops (503 and 11th Abn. Div.) fought counterparts Japanese airborne troops in jungles and mountains in Negros, Leyte and Luzon. Outstanding work overall, thanks for sharing!
The owner of the WWII museum in Valencia told me in the last five years he has found the human remains of 7 Japanese soldiers and the remains of 2 US soldiers

Very happy to hear from someone as passionate about the subject as I am! Yes, very unusual to have paratroopers fighting other paratroopers!

Yes, that is correct. He has been helping with archaeological work up on the mountain. That would have been completed already but for the pandemic.
@@LesSharp Does the museum have a website, or Facebook page?
