How to wheelie a Yamaha R1

  • On demand of some fans i made a ''how to wheelie'' video....
    Keep in mind that i recommend full leather suits and full-face helmets, especially when you're trying to do stuff like this, also do this at a place where there are no people nor cars so you can do your thing.
    The Yamaha YZF R1 has ALOT of power, so i don't have to make alot of RPM's to get it in the air, if you ride an less powered bike, you just have to keep searching for that pull-off point.
    Don't forget to subscribe and leave a like :)

    It's a pretty begginer's guide, and one thing you should mention is ALWAYS keeping your foot to the rear brake in case if bike starts flipping over.

    ...and always cover the rear brake. Especially if you have never tried this before and are riding a supersport. Its quite easy to loop a bike when trying to wheelie.

    • @DamonSkypes
      @DamonSkypes 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      or just release the throttle..

    • @AntiPlatitude
      @AntiPlatitude 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Demetri some people freak out and don't release. Or, they freak out and close the throttle completely, and they bounce right over the front of the bike

    • @HerroYuy246
      @HerroYuy246 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Demetri if you're high up you'll slam the bike down which is no beuno. Using the brake to ease it back down is a lot better.

    • @zimvader25
      @zimvader25 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know im a year late to this party but you're wrong. On bikes newer than 2002 or so, with all their sensors, it isnt as easy as you think, to flip them. BUT covering their rear break is a lot easier and better than slamming the front end back down. So it's still good advice, just not for the reason you claimed.

    Put the bike in second gear take off when you hit about 30 miles per hour Full Throttle fan the clutch the bike comes up steady and as it comes up give it more gas and if it gets too high release the gas slowly. It takes practice

    I find it much easier to just stand on the pegs at a steady throttle. Then bounce and as the suspension unloads add throttle it will bring you right where you want to be once you master it. I'm actually very rusty right now being off the bike many years just bought another R1. By the time my first good Sunday is over I'll be rusty no more.

    Clutch ups?. Your on a R1 the most wheelie prone motorcycle there is and all you have to do is twist the throttle!. I've had two of them and both would wheelie easily and sometimes without me knowing it and more than once I didn't know it until I shifted and the front wheel would come back down!. It's really scary at about 95 mph!?

    3. Release the clutch?

    • @MrTooYoungToGoSlow
      @MrTooYoungToGoSlow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +mohlomphehi Yes, BUT so it like babysteps... there's no neee to rush things so build up RPM's to get the front end of the bike up, but don't open the throttle like you about to take off... do it real slow so you can feel the bike his power, and then you can adjust your RPM's to get the bike up

    On my 1999 R1 id just open the throttle up in 1st without using the clutch as it had enough low down torque and keep the revs quite low then start upshifting whilst on the back wheel, the fastest i got to was 232kph in 6th gear in the wheel stand and could stay on the back wheel as long as i wanted as soon as you learn the balance point it's quite easy,it's a shame i was't aloud to do it on track days ..pity i didnt have a go pro.

    • @MrTooYoungToGoSlow
      @MrTooYoungToGoSlow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dem take it step by step, don't do it too fast, then it's scary i know... but once you see that you control the bike more and more it becomes less scarier. I never use my rearbrake, i just rely on the engine, but most people use the rear brake for when it goes too far to the back. So it's all up to you :)

    I only do power wheelie on my cbr 600rr. Tried a few times the clutch procedure but my clutch it's too hard to pull even with 2 fingers, and when it's lifting I usually loose my streight direction. On power wheelie I have good grip on clipons and it's just a matter of sinchronizing with the bike powerband. I can do powerwheelie even with 125cc bikes.

      when you pull the clutch with one finger, do you pull it until it disengage? I mean are you suppose to be able to shift gears when pulling with one finger? I myself hate powerwheelie, I tried few times and its way too agressive...

      +Tia no no, i don't shift gears with one finger, when you don't squeez it hard enough, it won't shift.... so i only put it in first already before i start handeling the clutch with one finger to make it wheelie. No shifting gears while on one wheel. It IS possible, but very risky if you don't know how

      Ok thanks you! Because I thought some people shift gears with only 1 finger and in order to perform the wheelie with one finger, you were suppose to be able to fully disengage and also able to shift gear... I get it now =) I tried today and was able to lift the wheel up a bit, I need to get use to it. Step by step, im not in a hurry to crash ahha!

    Throttle control! No rear brake. Do you wanna slam your front down or let it loft down lightly??? Brake is used once you get at balance point to control the 12 o'clock position while in wheelie.
