Im so glad i found this video. Im in a school of rock program at my high school and im a beginner drummer trying to learn this for our 00s choice song cause we've been assigned to choose two songs. One from 70s (Psycho Killer) and this as our 00s song! Keep rocking my dude!

This tutorial really, really helped when I learnt this song for a play thru I posted, the beat maybe basic, but the little syncopation as a leaner can throw you off. great tune to help with time keeping. Thanks again Duke Grooves.
Dude, you nailed that playthrough! Timing was on point and great decision on using the ride in the chorus, it sounded sweet...really helped keep things balanced in the mix.

Just started learning drums and this was the one tutorial I could follow! Counting the beat out definitely helped me pick it up. Would love if you could do another beginner song. I tried uptown funk but those last few bars will need some time to nail

In all thr covers of this drum part ive seen they play on the ride cymbal in the chorus and not the crash like you do, does it matter which one i play?
Tré Cool uses the crash in the original song. Using the ride will give you a thinner, sweeter sound to the section. Whether it 'matters' or not is up to you. Yes it will change the sound, but you're still using the same mechanics so you're still learning how to coordinate your body in the same way. The choice is yours!
