    Just received my TL1146 kit and S250 box from Pogliani (good price) but horrified when offering up the kit to the rack on my 2015 Tiger 800 XCA. It clearly wouldn't fit according to instructions and I thought I'd have to make up/adapt brackets but then I was very pleased to find this video.
    I've now fitted the kit as suggested and it looks pretty good. Just a couple of notes:
    1. My pannier mounting bolts on the bottom rail were already threaded right though so no M6 tap needed.
    2. I used only the smallest of spacers when fixing the bottom of the mounting plate to the new longer M6 bolts on the bottom rail. No other spacers are needed anywhere. Don't be tempted to use spacers between the bracket and plate as this would not be solid when only using one bolt fixing the now vertical bracket to the plate. You want that bracket flat to the plate to stop any flexing.
    3. There's a little bit of tape provided for the clamp fixings - use this on the top rail for a nicer fit.
    4. The S250 box should be fitted through the four holes on the plate as in the Givi instructions with the o-rings - further back and slighly lower than show in the video which makes for easy access. Doing this means there's no need to move the big bolt and nut on the rear strut as suggested in the video.
    It all works! Thanks for setting me on the right track,

    Thanks for the video. Was thinking of getting this to add a bit of extra storage on my Givi racks (not necessarily for tools) but what a pain in the ass to fit and not that great to access after fitting it.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. One question though, what fit kit did you use? I was advised to use PL1147KIT but there is no way this is fitting to this Triumph pannier mounts.

      @@davehewlett1971 thanks for the quick response 😁. if you look at the back of the bracket, the tube comes down, there is a small gap and then there is the mounting point (bolt). That space is the only place you can put the toolbox mount but it’s too high for the toolbox mounting frame. I have the same pannier setup on this video. I see that your mounting brackets come from the top……….ok, I just watched your video again, I’m an idiot!!!!!!! I just thought there was a completely different kit. Really appreciate your feedback, thanks heaps.

    Do you believe it is feasible to install it with a Mosko Mount for the Backcountry 35?

    • @davehewlett1971
      @davehewlett1971  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looking at some images of the backcountry 35 I'd yes yes quite feasible in the inside left. There is lots of slack in the mount kit which should work. Good luck! Thanks

    Do you struggle to fit the pannier on with the kit mounted this way. Was very skeptical about buying this kit due to the massive cost, now the brackets don't even fit as per instructions, now I've mounted it this way, I have to force the pannier to fit

    • @davehewlett1971
      @davehewlett1971  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not had any troubles fitting the pannier back on ever when the kit was fitted as shown in the video. Good luck and thanks for watching

      @@davehewlett1971 I got it sorted, the aluminium bar that you bolt back over the toolbox brackets was being bowed out. I had to file a little out of the bottom half of the aluminium bar for it to fit flush. All works as it should now. Thanks

    Thanks for the video... can you tell me what year your bike is and are the pannier frames what Triumph sells with the bike? You used the universal fitting kit but it seems there is a dedicated kit... I am wondering if it is necessary?

    • @davehewlett1971
      @davehewlett1971  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, it's a 52 plate. Standard Triumph mounts and panniers. You do need the fitting kit.

    A very nice video. Well done Sir. But regarding the tool box. If it isn't completely water PROOF, it's useless. I can imagine being on the side of the road or trail with a flat. Only to find out my tools have rusted to shit.

      Put your tools inside ziplock bags, then inside your tool roll. I do this even under the seat as little in this world is truly waterproof

    Got the box, and plopped it on my 2016 Tiger XCA and... it's bloody useless, since the rear support bar of the Givi pannier racks gets in the way of being able to get a tool roll in and out of it!!!

    • @davehewlett1971
      @davehewlett1971  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ubermick very sorry to hear that, I've not used the middle shelf which helps, but could you split the roll into two rolls to help.good luck. I've found mine very useful.
