Amazing episode Mark! Love kalk, I use ATO with kalk and a 2 part with a doser...

Good video. I did as you said with the Kalk in the ATO a while ago but, I didn't like it. Too much cleaning, so I stopped dosing completely. Now with this advice I might try again. As soon as I get some mula to buy one. I would have liked to see how your set up is (pic on Social media maybe) I think from now on I going to call you the "Tony Montana of Saltwater Tank" lol "cocaine" , that was a good one Mark.

so what if you dont have all this fancy gear like an apex to shut off if it gets to high? I have been wanting to use hit but to scared! I caant afford an apex either! What my other options. I do have a senye not sure if it still works though and i think it sends alerts if to high. Is there anything that can send me alerts and i can shut of myself? Do I have to have a kalk stirrer? I have limited room under my 36 bowfront!

Couple questions, what do you do about magnesium in the tank? Kalk doesn't add that does it? Second you dose 4.5 gallons a day? Presumably not all at once, so is your stirring rod for your kalk (assume you have the Avast unit?) just going non-stop? Or do you break it down in pulses?

Mike B I rarely have to dose Mg into a tank. My tank gets 4.5g if kalk throughout 24 hrs broken down into pulses

Thanks!, what a timing, I just setup last weekend my kalk with a BRS 2 part dosing pump... would you recommend mixing the max concentrated solution at the dosing reservoir and drip it periodically trough out the day or make a less concentrated solution and drip it more constantly?

Maybe a show on not chasing PH ? Corals are supposed to grow faster with higher PH

    Hey Mark.
Any thoughts on running kalk along with 2part? Obviously reducing 2part dosing amounts any negatives?

what reactor would you recommend for a 60 gallon cube?

  • @slirpslirp

so without apex system you can't control for PH over 8.6 ? that's make the kalkwasser dangerous and useless (without controlling constantly the PH ) ?

I wonder if you have an opinion on adding kalk to a tank that is dosing 2 part first? Particularly a 2part like Bionic or reefpro complete where you have trace elements built into your 2 part?
    Thanks Mark

Retro Reefs you can add kalk to a 2-part dosed tank. You’d likely need to dial Down your 2-part dose since kalk adds to your alk and Ca levels

Exactly understanding that I’d most likely drop my 2 part in half which would also cut the trace elements in half is that another worry in an acro dominant tank? Because of questions like this I’ve been considering using separate trace and 2 part so I can use kalk without worry

you said you dose 4 gallons of kalk solution a day? thats way more than evaporation of a tank so arent you dropping your salinity with that much fresh water?

Technik vom letzten Jahrhundert. Total veraltet in einer Zeit, wo es zählt, dass die Parameter nicht schwanken und konstant sind.

Why not set up your ATO pump to your kalk stirrer instead of a separate pump?

I just switched for two part to a calcium reactor and I'm wondering how to keep my PH level a bit higher using Kalkwasser without raising my alkalinity to much. I am running my Alk at 9.0 now so what would you do to keep levels from raising to high. My PH usually stays above 8 during the day and dips into the high 7's at night. Would you even dose the Kalk?
