Love the color choices in that wheel! I've never bothered to glue them in before. I don't take out that black plastic overlay either. I just set the film pieces on the module and press the case back onto it. They just get held in place by pressure. Haven't moved on me yet, but who knows.
GELS! Awesome mod! they're called "gels" because they were once made of gelatin. The polyester/polycarbonate they are now made from can withstand approx 450 degrees before smoldering.
These are fun to do and the investment is CHEEEP. Mine hasn't yet got a color change but I did take it apart for the _text-removal mod_ ... Thanks for doing this mod on-camera Rob, and trust me it's no sin to edit the tedious stuff out!
I'm even worse. I won't even use my Rodico if there are tweezers nearby. "It should be able to pick it up!!" I was cured of that notion the first time I installed a handset tho.
I don't know what color plastic to use because it's hard to get it in Indonesia. I've been looking at the online shop but haven't got it yet. maybe you can give me the link for the purchase, thank you
I’ve done this a couple times and while they do look great, the film is a bit “wavy”. This is only obvious when you look at a light source reflecting off of it. Is this pretty much expected since the film is so thin?
maybe it is possible to just paint these segments with colored waterproof ink markers ?? that would be almost the same effect but maybe a bit limited to red and blue .
does anyone in the US still do these mods I had one done during covid is was a great piece and I moved recently and can't find it..ill pay someone if u know how to do it and your willing??
How did you find a dw400-401. Been hunting a tachy, sky and surf timer. Found the surfer time in good condition vibrate colors which I was amazed for 190 but the other two nothing comes up on eBay. Been searching for months. Have the searches saved and everything. They have two up there now but there are pretty beat nothing like your tachy. I tried that watchrecon.com but nothing. Any advice would help thanks.
I like the air puffer youre using. Great idea and much cheaper than the compressed air cans i buy. Can i ask for thr technical name of it, and where you bought? Thanks
I think the Lee Filter is cheap, in online shops in my country the price is quite expensive, for that size the price is close to the price of the watch itself,... Modified watches just sell for 3X the price 😂
plastic filters are A LOT too thick... the result is too dark and looks cheap. You have to use 0.08mm thick plastic filters. They are easy to find. The result will be much cleaner, brighter and more professional.

I like these being modified but my personal preference is for just one solid colour. I appreciate the patience shown Rob!🙏🏻 👍🏼

hey, that's fun to learn!
Just came across this. Nice work! Love your mod color choices, and of course that Casio Skywalker👍
Love your channel. Subscribed!
Okay the colors are growing on me. Might have to look into doing something on mine now. Looks super simple.
Holy sht, Yankee candle topper ftw...you've given new life to that lid for me...thx!
It’s the perfect item to cover parts. Plus good smelling candles.
This is awesome! Would be cool to see a watch done with this AND the "Custom backlight mod"
I found that double sided tape works best and if you want to change up the colors later on it's an easy process.
Good idea. Which double side tape do you recommend?
I lack the fine motor skills to even think about doing this lol. Well done
Thanks for the video. That's a beautiful mod. I'm doing that next.
Cool video!!! I’ve always wondered how those models would look in different colors 👊
It looks easy and the mod makes you look like a wrist watch expert hehe
You've got a lot more patience than I do. I would just start firing out 4 letter words and quit. Looks awesome though!
That's awesome! Great idea and great execution. Thanks.
Great idea. Now gonna browse which Casio I should do this mod on.

Looks great Rob! Thanks for sharing!
I am shaky too, I saw a watchmaker use Rodico. A putty to pick up fiddly parts and then use the tweezers
Well done, dude, i like your work😊
Minit Watch does this too and he does a cool “bubble mod “, and I think Jody at JustOneMoreWatch has gone something similar.
Never realised the "modding" for the "Royale" had a big following. I saw Jody removing the lettering on the outside. The colours looks amazing.
Nice video :) Maybe try some of the old style yellowish filters to get a nice lemonface vibe.
never has a man needed Rodico more ⏰😄
I'm even worse. I won't even use my Rodico if there are tweezers nearby. "It should be able to pick it up!!" I was cured of that notion the first time I installed a handset tho.
I work in theater so I have access to a ton of gel. Might have to give it a go.
Very cool, thanks for doing this!
Pretty cool looking Rob.

Thanks! just ordered the wheel
Doing this will decrease the water resistance? 🤔
That’s cool 😎 I will probably gonna try this

Where can I buy LEE filters?

Can u do it without breaking the warch
Great tutorial, Rob! Maybe gonna try this with my red AE1300WH! Adding even more red too it than just the case.
What about, silicon oil?
Nice. Those look great!

Thank you - very interesting!
Can you do this (one color) on a F-91?

Have been on for awhile, no issue
