Sam, Legacy Auto is not making enough EV’s because they actually don’t want to. They’re only making them because they’re forced to! If it was up to them, they wouldn’t at all.
Fanboys will claim the bolt is proof GM supports making EVs. Except it is still a low volume car they lose money on that is only being made for regulatory compliance to avoid buying carbon credits from competitors or paying regulatory fines. They only make as many as they need for this purpose and that is it. It is why they cap the charging speed at 60kw. Those bolt batteries are modern batteries, there is no reason why it has to charge so slow. They do it under the hopes that more people will buy a new GM EV if GM ever makes one. If they make one, they don't want the bolt to be pulling away business from it. Crippling the charge rate is the best way to limit it as competition.

Having made that decision I just had to buy one. Now 6 years later the Corolla has been replaced by a model 3. The ownership experience was so inspiring, that now even the lawnmower has batteries, and we will never go back.
It's Legacy car industry's choice to soft pedal on this issue, and it's their decision to just give up and accept their fate if Euro 7 goes ahead. Tough, they need to take responsibility for their Engineering and design incompetence.
German luxury car makers have good products but were not prepared for demand. I know someone who waited 18 months for an Audi EV. I had a similar wait for a BMW. I think they simply can't build enough to keep up with demand, hence the play for extra time.

Let's make a rule that tailpipes have to be vented into the cabin of the car instead of outside. I bet the manufacturers would find a way to meet those "impossible" Euro 7 emission requirements then.
In case things weren't tough enough already for legacies, many governments are incentivizing the switch to EVs. BMW and VW are late in converting, and will be lucky to survive.
The regulation is not only about lowering emissions, but sensors on the cars, emission for breaks/tires etc. The concern is that they will have to further invest in ICE technology that will become by 2030 obsolete. Whatever, VW group was lobbying for 2035 ban on ICE. Plus, they did not push back the EV rollout, but in fact speed up (take Skoda as an example)
I can be a fun of rivian and lucid but if they will face bankruptcy it will not help me a lot. EVs still under pressure. Hope humanity will do the final step and EVs will become low price and dominant type of transportation.

If you drill down, you will find that these companies want to avoid premature bankruptcy. They make all their profits on ICEv production and lose massive money on every BEV they make. So the more BEVs they make, the more money they lose, and at the same time, the fewer ICEVs they make, the less profit they make. There is a tipping point that legacy makers must carefully navigate, where they can still make a profit on reduced ICE production and begin making that profit up on increased BEV production. If they get this wrong, they go bankrupt. The lobbying is because they don't know if they can be profitable on the government's timeline, which is not a good sign. So profit is what is driving these decisions. When BEV's become their cash cows, they will ditch ICEVs overnight.
Ever since VW degraded their VW Tiguan engine. I lost love for VW vehicles :( I moved on to Audi. Now, I patiently wait for Audi E-trons to drop price under $70KUSD so I don't have to pay the BS. Will I consider going Tesla? Sure - if they drop their dual motor prices below $50K prices below because they certainly don't look worth it's current cost with or without the price drop. Plus legacy manufacturers protest because they want to continue the cycle of cheap cost to build while charge more to sell. They are also scared because of their auto unions that will diminish XXXXXX amount of jobs.

So, VW and BMW lobby against Euro 7 emissions laws, saying it isn't fair, ok, I'm pretty sure people don't think it fair they have to breathe in exhaust fumes from ICE vehicles when they could have done an EV, that being said, what VW and BMW are really saying is, your EV aren't as good as Tesla or the Chinese EVs, but instead of us fixing them, we will just give up market share to those EV car companies, I see massive taxes (tariffs) for non-made EV in Europe, if not, the Chinese are going to own the European market along with Tesla
Sorry to burst your bubble, but there isn't enough lithium to cover the EU market, let alone most of the world, with EVs fully and it's not economically nor developmentally feasible, low probability in 2 decades with more technological advancements, but definitely not now. Not to mention EVs are far from the cleanest cars currently when most countries refuse to use Nuclear power to produce electricity, what will happen if you put several thousands of cars into charging overnight or just when you get back home in current times? Right, bunch of blackouts in many areas, now imagine several millions of these cars going all at once. Plus, not everyone lives in a house, most do in tower blocks and you don't have enough space to accommodate all the cars to charge. Nobody is even trying these ridiculous green deal eco bs norms or restricting ICE car altogether apart from the lawmakers in the EU and in California in the US, because rest of the world knows it's dumb and we're far from prepared worldwide. Even Sweden, for how progressive they are, stepped away from this because they realize it's just too idiocratic. And lastly is that the air in the cities has become much cleaner over the past decades to breathe than you might realize, several studies have been done over those years and my point is proven by them.
After Euro 3 the later revisions did nothing really objective for the environment. It is just the "political will" of the bureaucracy, without any economical reasoning. Raising cost and complexity of ICE cars beyond any rationality. Leave it to the market. BEVs will prevail because they are easier to ride, more fun and they are cheaper to operate. That is the right way. And not destroying the market and companies ahead of the time they need to change. We will regret it if we leave the car market completely to the chinese.
Leaving it to the market is what created all the climate problems, and the market cannot and will not solve them. It is precisely because China is not a 'free market' economy that it has such an advantage already. The only way for Europe to save its auto industry is for the EU to ban new registration of ICE cars from the beginning of 2024 and to put a large import tariff on all non-EU car imports.

Will go the way of Kodak, sears, travel agencies, book stores, blockbuster, MySpace, taxis....
Bmw isnt ready cause they not evs 🙏🙏💯 for the most part
The regulation is not only about lowering emissions, but sensors on the cars, emission for breaks/tires etc. The concern is that they will have to further invest in ICE technology that will become by 2030 obsolete. Whatever, VW group was lobbying for 2035 ban on ICE.
Plus, they did not push back the EV rollout, but in fact speed up (take Skoda as an example)
I can be a fun of rivian and lucid but if they will face bankruptcy it will not help me a lot. EVs still under pressure. Hope humanity will do the final step and EVs will become low price and dominant type of transportation.
Why only mention 2 US EV manufacturers? Chinese manufacturers already produce tons of quality EVs at various price ranges.
@@douginprague I follow them, but because I am living in US, I can't use Geely here.
Bro even if they become cheaper? Where to charge em? And how are grids are even gonna meet the demand?
3:42 Automobilwosh 🤣
Not just cancer. Many kinds of heart disease, lung disease, allergic reaction, damage to the eyes and mucous membranes, skin, nerve damage, it goes on and on.
Hey Viking, thanks for allowing me to interrupt your skateboarding afternoon the other day. Sorry for the Fan boi ing... I agree i will be driving my current car to the ground (ie not ever planning on a new ICE vehicle - or even wait for the current Prestige cars to be really cheap second hand. Shows like yours help in the on going argument about range and australia i have with my wife about owning an EV. Could even handle a second hand Leaf as i only drive 5Km to work every day.. Hope Shanna is coping with treatment and best wishes..cheers
Never going back to ICE. See you at Fully Charged Farnborough 😎
Is that a never?
Crazy, begging for mercy now after there crappy decisions
Whether owning an Audi, bentley, cupra, porsche, bugatti etc, doesn't mean you moved on from VW, since they are all sub-brands of VW.
@@dewismith3059 Duh VW owns Audi and the rest of the brands they acquired for profit - They are not sub brands because VW certainly didn’t invent nor came up with those name nor invented the innovation and tech. They share parts across the board. I said I moved to a different manufacturer. You obviously didn’t understand my comment nor read up the history of acquisitions and financially support to keep brand ownership alive
Eh 70k 😂 yeah this is one of the reasons EV's will die off
If this is fleet emission then vw can meet those by buying c credits or introducing a small fleet of evs.
Dear VW Thailand. Please sell something more than Caravelle vans! Regards.
Great topic & content 👍
Glad you liked it
Will they still be arround in 2025?
There are a lot of morons out there.Yesterday, here in Norway,a guy in an old ,rusty VW Van,was trying to hit my Tesla in a narrow street where I live. When I rolled down the window and asked what the hell he was doing, his answer was that he hated electric cars..Not so strange there are wars around the world when its this kind of mentality.
Agree. I little wrong if you are a vw fan
Why? Because they are stylish and have a powerfully engines and fun to drive cars? Old VW were Great current VW's are really nice but expensive though everything new is, personally got a skoda fabia over a polo less money more value
Yes, its true the projected dates have been selected and known. But to be fair there is no scientific evidence to justify or prove those specific dates are pivotal and critical. Yes, sooner the better, but at what cost? It's reasonable to explore methodical and strategic plans that don't simply eliminate players based on the exploitation of battery materials being dominated by a few. Etc.
They hit top cheat limit. 🤣
I am for all car sold must be BEV by 2028
I am going, can't wait to see the EV, Electric Viking.
Not everyone is a green lunatic.
Never going back to ICE..
I'll be moving away from Toyota to a non-Tesla electric car. When the legacy auto manufacturers start losing sales left and right, at some point they'll have to wake up and read the writing on the wall. Vote with your wallets.
I am voting with my wallet and this is why I will never buy an EV
Corporate interests !!!
Fan boy of VW,you have an issue.🤣peace and love to you and yours Sam.
I hate VW !!!!! see below for why.
... God... always... ...
WITHIN CAPITALISM THE CUSTOMER IS KING. IF YOU CANNOT STAND THE HEAT GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN.
Bro we are the customers not the rich with a few spare cars and a large garage with chargers EV are not affordable, they are not practical and they are shit capitalism and what the buyers want has nothing to do with Euro 7 and stupid rich politician and their orbiting activists associates trying to push unrealistic things into reality
Well , the problem is that the producer doesnt even know how to messure emission from breakes and tires and even if they already may have some ides how to do it it took some year to make new lines and systems to produce all those new breaks and tires also if we are looking on it from human side as you dont want to get cancer because of emission look at the industrial revolution what a mess and we are still alive… Fan boy of wv? Im bad ? At least im not supporting mining of main battery parts in congo and other countris where childs mine it and dying because of your green way . Thats the problem all you saying healthy green freedom , and how about those people ? No one cares . And how about poor people? With E7 they cannot afford new car so what will happen? All those will be buying older cars with lower Euro standard because of money so it will have exactly the opossite effect what EU wants because the producer told that the cars should go up 1/4 of price of a car with E6 .
I know right fuck em with all that shit these people are unhinged rich tards I just bought my first car, new cause with the current market used isn't worth it and I looked at the prices and man a few years ago I could have got it max 15k and pay it off it 2 years if not in 1 but i am sitting on 21 with 4 years of payments and I work 6/7 days a week, I am 25 and I feel like we got no future I went through the anxiety off having to plan cars payments, daily expenses, renting a house with my gf and having kids in the next 4 years.... shit is overwhelming
I'm getting so tired of legacy auto and their polluting vehicles. It will be a huge victory for me to see them wither away and squeal like pigs as they go bankrupt.
I will probably never buy another car from legacy auto I will wait for used Tesla prices to drop which they will eventually
Lol I don't think this will go well😂
💯Sam!
1. No company has the right to put shareholder returns ahead of human health
2. Nobody’s job should be protected in favour of the health of their fellow human beings.
It’s why we stopped sending kids into coal mines 100 years ago 🧐
Keep up the great work mate! Love and hope to your family🥰
BMWgate
@@DaWolfetrax I assume it must be just enough lithium for the world population of Vikings 😀
@@davidinkster1296 The "climate problem " is an invention for the politicians and other interest groups, to push everything they want into our throats. Since 30 years there is not a single empirical evidence that the CO2 effect really exists. Neither is there any experiment that verified it.
@@vic321344 You are totally wrong about the climate problem, and there is abundant evidence both from empirical observations and from laboratory experiments dating back decades that anthropogenic CO2 is a major contributing factor. There are now vast amounts of information available, but as you apparently choose to shut your eyes to it. If the scientific literature is too complicated for you to understand, there is a compact little book by Greta Thunberg that you may find interesting.😄😄😄
@@davidinkster1296 i prefer to think for myself and not delegate it to politicians or "scientists". I prefer to read the raw data, before the "scientists" delete data points. And still there is not a single experimental evidence that the CO2 effect even exists.
I leave the book of little Greta to people, who are dependend on supervised thinking.
@@vic321344 I actually do think for myself, and I actually am both a scientist and an engineer. Clearly you are neither
Some people are car enthusiasts not just greenie lunatics.
Actually all those people succumbed in fires in Western United States, droughts and heat waves in the West and Central United States, floods in Missouri and Kentucky, tornadoes in the Southern and Southeastern United States, record winter storms and cold waves throughout the Midwest and Northeastern United States, and there is too MUCH MORE actual facts of that type to list.
I am a car enthusiast. The sooner we get rid of ICE the better. ICE and its fart-sounds are history. 20th century, not 21st.
Honestly, as a fan of small, performance oriented cars, the idea of an EV version seems pretty thrilling. Instant torc is fun!
Please have a word to Bobby Lew at Fully Unhinged live about his hate for Elon/Tesla.
I think that ............................ Elon should tweet more bizarre things.
You can't say that automotive emissions caused your wife's cancer. I personally know several people, many now deceased, that were suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of various types. These people all took a shot that was heavily encouraged by the government in the last two years, to the point that they would lose their jobs if they didn't take the shot and the boosters.
Why do people like to interpret words in their own way. I don't think that I have ever heard Sam say that automotive emissions caused his wife's cancer. Automotive emissions have contributed to cancer, asthma and other ailments.
I have never heard Sam blame his wife's cancer specifically on vehicle emissions, and I reject your underhand attempt to bring spurious anti-vax b-s into the conversation.
Electric vehicles with fake engine sound will be popular and in fact should be compulsory for safety reasons.
Probably need a red flag in front too
