What prompted the change to go to using 2 mekugi? Properly done, 1 is enough. Also, you doing something different with the finishing? This one looks cleaner in the polish. Ever think about doing O-kissaki? Those are hot.
I think I started using 2 mekugi with Kokushibo's sword. I just wanted to make extra certain the sword doesn't break loose. I know 1 mekugi is traditional, I just want to mix things up a little. I also started adding more Sori and profile taper to my swords, and using more surface finishing belts to polish.
@@JumboRadish sori is always cool. Taper is also good, too many makers overlook that. It's what helps give a sword a lively feeling in the hand. For extra hotness, try adding fumbari. If you're concerned about safety, you could try making thicker mekugi from delrin. Some of the better makers use it if susudake is unavailable. It holds up well. The new polish routine is good. Keep that.
