    Why don't banks part fill ATMs with £50 notes? If drawing out more than £100 you could easily take one; perhaps two or three for £200. This fad of not wanting to take £50 notes needs to stop. It's perfectly legal tender and should be accepted as such. They have €50 and even €100 notes abroad don't they?

      Nigel C Ingle Today's governor Mark Carney is not in favour of them.

      Christopher Watson Why bother printing all this lot then? There must be millions of pounds worth here. A £50 note equals two £20s and a £10. If you have around £300 in your wallet in £20s it's going to be a bit of a squeeze, depending on the size of your wallet. Six £50s will be a hell of a lot easier to deal with.

      No plans currently for a polymer £50 but the Bank of England told the FT in December 2016 there were no plans to end the £50 either. Only paper note in a few years time though.

      Mark Carney not in favour of them? He comes from Canada and their $100 bill is worth £59. Two faced fool.

      When I got my holiday money from the Post Office they gave me a €100 note. When I got to France it was very difficult to spend. Shops refused to accept it. I even took it to a bank to get changed and the bank refused to break it up!

    Some idiots want rid of £50 notes by the early 2020's saying £20 should the largest note to combat laundering and 'black economy'. Largest Euro notes are 500, (over £400). Are they also saying Europe's largest note should be 25 Euro? £20 by then would be equivalent to £5 in the early 1980's when the £50 first came into being. For crying out loud lol....

      That is exactly what I have been thinking of. What is the point of withdrawing large denominations if inflation will need those notes anyway? Besides, money laundering and "black economy" will still exist even if they withdraw paper money from circulation.

    • @richardlamb5888
      @richardlamb5888 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly that. Plus it would put the UK having the smallest value highest denomination note in the western world. E.g outside of the EU, Australia use 100 dollar notes, (£56). We are becoming a laughing stock anyway beyond having tiddly notes with this Brexit business and other matters besides. Unfortunately nutters like Peter Sands see it otherwise.

    I get the impression that the 50 pound is rare? I thought it was the same as 50 euro but more worth.

    • @Queenie910
      @Queenie910 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is, and yes Rare. We are all poor in the UK.

      @trains and trams Pretty funny because the €50 note is the most used banknote in the EU.

    • @SuperDaddyWasabi
      @SuperDaddyWasabi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @trains and trams Most transactions in the European Union are done cash wise. However, I am from the Netherlands and the Netherlands is leader in the European Union when it comes to debit card payments. Nevertheless I still see that payments are done in cash quite often. About every two weeks I spot an 50€ banknote. Mostly elderly people use banknotes but its not rare to have an 50€ banknote at home. I usually have 20€ cash with me in case my debit card fails or I lose my debit card, so I don't become empty-handed. I think a lot of people use 50€ notes as backup money.

    nice still have 2 of these £50 notes give into me back in 2013 and one of these notes is worth around $70-$75 but $120-125 using the post brexit Pound Sterling to US Dollar exchange rate

    Yes, they're printing shitloads of these, but they're also destroying the old ones as they filter back to the bank, in about a year the old note will not be legal tender any more and can be exchanged forever at the bank for a new one or kept as a novelty.

    @Ratchet3Mark shops do take them and hardly anyone uses them because they use credit cards to pay for very expensive things were as in the past they would have used cheques or a lot of fifty pound notes. So get ur facts right

      I just bought a 50 pound note here in Canada at a foreign exchange place and I paid $89.00 Canadian (including a $4.00 fee) for it. I am holding USD, Swiss Francs, Euros, British Pounds and Canadian Dollars (and some gold coins) as a store of wealth. Maybe $10,000 Canadian worth of each currency just in case the world economy gets worse than it is. This may be a mistake or such but it just feels good to hold multiple currencies.

      I know I'm a bit late but there is no point in having a £100 note in England, most places/people don't like or sometimes even refuse the £50 note.
