- The transfer of your innermost knowledge, and how the power of this knowledge can allow you grow, or evacuate your viscera and make you an empty vessel. Some can grow from sharing, others need to be emptied completely before they can grow. Not everybody grows with new ideas. The empty glass will finally be able to learn and grow. In this animated film, a wine glass discovers that in order to grow, he must be emptied of all his contents.
"POUR 101" delves deeper into the peculiar cartoon world of living and breathing wine glasses. This is the sixth animation of the series. A morphing type of synthesis occurs when a blue glass awkwardly approaches a glass filled with red. But instead of a perfect mixture, the Red glass retains size color, where as the blue glass inherits an amalgamated mixture , causing him to grow exponentially. Attempting to obtain this abstract growth, the Red glass goes on a frustrated sprinting rampage through multiple blue colored peers, only to stumble upon an empty glass. When performing the exchange on this glass, the red glass is completely drained of its identity.. and now is empty, as the chipped glass walks away full, pleased with its new found contents.
The newly emptied glass solemnly journeys back to the beginning, where he is re-united with his first two encounters, now completely willing to share their synthesized contents back to the original source. Finally, he grows. The result of this constant process of mixture is personal growth and an odd appearance of homogeneity, for better or for worse.
"Pour 101" is a sequel to "Pour 585" as well as the five others in the series. Each film is connected through the world they inhabit, and the processes and rituals they share, but also disconnected in terms of story and context. Each film contains within a cautionary tale about the dangers of conformity and the value of individuality. The films use visual metaphor to illustrate several sociological elements, namely: The process of indoctrination, hierarchal power structures, passing of knowledge or ideology, intellectual growth, ritual, discrimination, tribal brutality, and the merits of nuance.

The happy look on 101's face at the end really made my day.
ha, it takes me a lot of effort to draw a smile.. i typically just draw frumpy or serious faces.
@@PatrickSmithAnimation agreed.

This series never fails to deliver. The fact that so many steps are taken towards world building yet you’re still curious about what’s going to happen and what it means is what makes me enjoy it so much. Thank you very much for continuing this Patrick. And keep up the good work.
thanks for taking the time to watch, and comment. this particular episode was enjoyable, it was fun to make in a non-stop shot with no cuts (aside from title). anyway, thx again!
@@PatrickSmithAnimation I'm just noticing that now. Very impressive work, part of your style to experiment with where you take this setting and concept. It works especially well because the droning and at times panicked movement of characters and the camera helps guide us through the journey of 101, a realistic pacing that pays off well with how wholesome it is. I'm excited to see where this series goes next (but do take your time, this seems like quite a bit of work).

This was a little "jolly" than usual.. No one dying, no one cracking, and no one getting angry. I like it when the characters get some happiness from time to time :)
next one is totally brutal haha

As always, this is a great animation with a plethora of possible meanings. In general, we leave a mark on every person we meet in our lives, 101 physically leaves a little bit of themselves in all the people they interact with, and as far as we can tell it causes them to grow and they are happy. Now 101 doesn’t seem like the most open of individuals in the beginning, but either out of kindness, circumstance, or perhaps a little bit of selfishness, they have an impact all they people they meet, allowing them to grow. Perhaps 101 thinks that by interacting with and positively affecting others, they will eventually change the kind of person who they themselves are, and be happy. This isn’t the case. It’s not until 101 finds someone who is truly in need and they literally pour everything they have into them, that the people he has had an impact on in the past lend him a helping hand, and he truly becomes content.
In summary, 101 started off as a fairly shutoff person, but after seeing the positive impact they had on people, they set out try and find contentment by helping others, which eventually did happen, but only after they gave all they had to those around them, and found peace with the people he changed along the way.
this is fantastic.. articulated better than I can. "we leave a mark on every person we meet in our lives" SO TRUE, thanks for pointing this out.

This one was the best one, I love that in the end he needed to empty himself into someone who needed substance the selves in order to become part of the crowd he made. It’s so cute and wholesome, no one seems so upset either 😊
thanks! yeah def more wholesome than POUR GAMES
This ending seems happier than the ones we usually get.

This short made my day. Through the prism of cups and glasses, we essentially see the same picture of what is happening outside our window among people and it’s simply amazing. I will never get tired of watching these cute glasses

Também sou brasileiro. As animações dele são ótimas.
This always makes me want to eat glass. Also, I would love to see more of these wine glasses and their world, I wonder why they fill themselves up?
I LOVE IT!! I still don't know how you make these characters have so much personality even when they don't say a word! Incredible.

Huh, i think this is the first time i've seen these Wine glass fellows run out of wine after pouring it somewhere else! Great stuff as always!

Wow, je suis surpris que tu travailles sur d'aussi bons dessins, j'aime tellement ça !
The God of the animation have came back
ha, well i had to make another POUR film because my TINY GIANTS idea failed miserably.
The animation is great. I definitely thought the interaction between cup people was going to be a cracking animation or solely pouring. The stick, merging animation was very novel. A+

@@PatrickSmithAnimation i love your pour animations . I completely agree
Great Animation!
This one is definitely one of my favorites of the series. I know many people are saying they like it for the happy ending, but I think of an interpertation with it.
I believe the message here is that people come and go, and a little part of you stays with those you interact with. The empty glass represents someone who needed a lot of someone, and kind of ran off with those parts. However, the original red glass found comfort in the people who actually appreciated him in the end.
I think this will be the last wine shape pour characters we will see, i will miss them so much
:(
Бокалы, стеклянные, вино, красные, синих и разных цветов. Вы создали необычную интересную и высоко символичную вселенную☺️
We just watched a video about drug addiction and the way it effects your brain in my high school Anatomy & Physiology class as part of our subunit on neurotransmitters, and I immediately recognized your art style in the video. Just wanted to leave my compliments on your most recent video. As someone who’s a few months shy of 3 years off drugs, I love the expression of addiction as a purposely malevolent being “highjacking” the brain. The animation was beautiful as always, and the style and color choice fit the tone of the video perfectly.
that's awesome that you recognized the animation!!! yeah, that series was for Addiction Policy Forum.. I animated it a few years ago. Glad the imagery resonated with you.
I have no idea about the lore behind these videos, but the animation is cool, love it.

Animations as good as this are extremely rare ❤️🇧🇷
Half of me tells me this is about small sacrifices to find new things, the other half says this is about recovering from the past for better life. However, i also belive that animations like these are about the eye of the beholder, it means what you think it could mean.
100% correct. very much eye of beholder. people project their own interpretations onto these, very often far from my original intention.
Amazing cartoon Patrick!!
thanks for watching, i am so appreciative that you took the time.

Another beautiful animation! I love these and am excited for more! Hopefully we get the origin story of the blue liquid, as it wasn’t explored yet! Love the concept of almost fusing / giving somebody liquid by walking through somebody.

kindness, intentional or not, pays off in the end, wholesome end :D
The king posted!
I really enjoyed this series
I knew that sooner or later there would be a cartoon about my favorite drink-character! Port wine combined with vodka as always is irresistible and unique!
is port wine/vodka blue?
@@PatrickSmithAnimation
There is also a bright blue vodka (perversion for teens in my humble opinion), but I am more inclined to believe that a shot glass person from animation simply because of the conventions of drawing is this color, just like when children draw a glass of water. But who in their right mind would mix wine with water? I apologize for this question to the whole Ancient world... And if we talk about port, it comes in a variety of colors, so my vision of these drinks has a right to exist. And finally, I must say that it is not I who am a thoroughly soaked inhabitant of the country of bears and balalaikas, port wine with vodka is the favorite drink of the most famous Russian singer of the time of Perestroika. The name of this man is Choi, and the tradition of drinking as he was adopted by many of his fans, just as Peter the Great taught all the nobility to drink in a new way for a new life in a new country!
This gives me Don't Starve vibes!
I’ve waited for this and now it’s time to soak it in 😎
I love this one
The smile in the end.. really made this special ending pop out.
Another GREAT VIDEO from you 🔥🔥
