    I wouldn't really call these American cupcakes, that is pretty deceiving. That makes it sound like we eat these all the time but I have literally never seen any of these before in my life. And some of them sounded quite gross.

      0:08 Weird American Cupcakes. There is nothing interesting about them eating typical cupcakes.

    • @bmariec88
      @bmariec88 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      peepslostsheep No, not really, but that doesn't really make these American cupcakes than. I have had some weird cupcakes and I know we do a lot of weird things, but I have literally never heard of these before in my life. Where did they find these weird cupcakes? I'm honestly curious.. I'm addicted to these videos though 😂 Watched about 30 of them in 4 days.

      " but that doesn't really make these American cupcakes than."
      Being from America, makes them American cupcakes.
      "Where did they find these weird cupcakes?"
      I'm not sure where all of them are from, but I know some of them.
      The BLT Cupcake is from MORE cupcakes, which is in Illinois.
      The Tomato soup cupcake has been sold at The Yellow Leaf Cupcake Company in Washington state. Although, tomato soup cake is an OLD AMERICAN RECIPE.
      The Chicken and Waffle one is from Robicelli’s in New York.
      Republic of Cake in California has done the casserole cupcakes, though they change their menu monthly. Currently they have a Potato mushroom cupcake and an Apple Cheddar cupcake.

      +sonicpokemaster1 The food prepared by link directs you to an Irish catering company and the contributors link directs you to a page that lists all the people who are in this video or helped produce it. I know they said that and after I left that comment I remember that I did have chocolate cake with roasted beet juice once and I had no idea it was there, which meant it was not needed. I don't understand chicken and waffles anyway. Why do those go together? I have heard of candied bacon maple muffin but those are different from cupcakes right? English is not my first language. I get help writing these. Muffin is bread and cupcake is sweet because it's a mini cake? I don't understand chicken in cake. You would not put it in a pan cake so why put it in a mini cake? Who thought up recipes with tomato soup and bacon? Lol

    I'm guessing the demographic of people watching these videos is fairly young. I haven't seen tomato soup cupcakes, but tomato soup cake used to be really popular. It appeared in the late 1920s and gained popularity in the 1940s. It was a standard recipe on Campbell's tomato soup cans, similar to the the banana pudding recipe on the Nilla Wafers box or the cookie recipe on Tollhouse Chips bags.

    • @spectral__
      @spectral__ 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I have. Just because some random cupcake chef made a crazy cupcake to meet a challenge in a reality show doesn't mean it's a an "American" food. We don't go into shops and buy cheeseburger cupcakes. And we can't just walk into any bakery and find these forced concoctions there. Even most of the shops that make those crazy cupcakes on the show don't actually sell them. It's purely for entertainment.

      Probably, unless you live in the part of the country that actually eat these things in which case it's a normal experience. Most "try" shows look for things that are out of the ordinary for many people because the impact and reactions will be funnier. Cupcakes with weird flavors is a very American thing, just specific to certain parts of America. Since America is so large and diverse it's not a surprise that many are unaware of them.

    It really just seems like y'all just took typical American food and drinks and decided it'd be great to try in cupcake form, then call it 'Weird American Cupcakes'.

    • @rachel9933
      @rachel9933 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they just took cupcakes that were created in America and can be found in say, one bakery or cafe in America, doesn't meant that they're actually popular or that Americans have actually heard of them.

    • @tutuprincess25
      @tutuprincess25 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard of the tomato soup one, but have never known anyone that made it. And I would NEVER try it! Blech! Also, these are like the cupcakes they sometimes made on Cupcake Wars when they had to use crazy ingredients.

    These are not American cupcakes

    • @peepslostsheep
      @peepslostsheep 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Unfortunately, they are. Not 'American' like the national flag is 'American', but 'American' as in 'it can be found in America'. They're from bakeries (or just bakers/bloggers) in America. No one is saying that they're COMMON in America, just that they are weird cupcakes, that are found in America.
      For instance, the BLT cupcake was from More Cupcakes, a cupcake place in Illinois.

      WTF I live on the east coast and there's no chance in hell any bakeries near me would make, or even have customers buy this, If this is where someone gets their standards on americans from they are very mislead.

    • @peepslostsheep
      @peepslostsheep 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jamaican macon Really? Because one of them is in New York.
      "If this is where someone gets their standards on americans from they are very mislead."
      Did you miss the title of the video? No one is saying these are standard. They're saying that they are WEIRD.
      Tomato soup cake is actually an old American recipe, going back to the great depression.
      The BLT Cupcake is from MORE cupcakes, which is in Illinois. The Tomato soup cupcake is actually an old recipe, but has been sold at The Yellow Leaf Cupcake Company in Washington state. The Chicken and Waffle one is from Robicelli’s in New York. The chicken and waffle one is actually available at several places, judging by some of the comments on this video.

      WTF!?!
      I'm an American and I've got to say ... I've never even heard of any of the abominations inflicted on these poor unsuspecting victims.
      To my Irish brethren ... Cupcakes are small cakes with frosting (icing?) ... Period ... End of story.
      I don't know what the organizers of this "taste test" were thinking but none of the abominations inflicted on you have anything whatsoever to do with the good ole U S of A as I know it.

      Phillip Probst "none of the abominations inflicted on you have anything whatsoever to do with the good ole U S of A as I know it."
      Thy're from bakeries, in the USA. The tomato soup cake is an old AMERICAN recipe.
