The Kia XCeed is powered by a range of fast-revving, turbocharged engines, giving buyers several choices to meet every driving need.
Three turbocharged gasoline direct injection (T-GDi) engines are on offer. The three-cylinder 1.0-litre T-GDi engine produces 120 ps and 172 Nm torque, while the four-cylinder 1.4-litre T-GDi engine produces 140 ps and 242 Nm torque. The high-power 1.6-litre T-GDi engine found in the Ceed GT and ProCeed GT is also available, as the most powerful in the XCeed line-up. With a 204 ps power output and 265 Nm torque across a broad range of engine speeds, the muscular 1.6-litre T-GDi engine perfectly matches the car’s ability to thrive in a variety of driving situations. The 1.6-litre T-GDi enables the Kia XCeed to accelerate from 0-to-100 kph in 7.5 seconds when equipped with the seven-speed double-clutch transmission, and 7.7 seconds with the six-speed manual.
The Kia XCeed is also available with a choice of two Smartstream power units - the cleanest diesel engines ever produced by the brand, and the most fuel efficient in the range. The 1.6-litre Smartstream engine is offered with either 115 ps or 136 ps. Depending on wheel size and specification, CO2 emissions for the 115 ps engine are as low as 109 g/km* (combined cycle) and 112 g/km* (combined) for the 136 ps engine.
Except for the 1.0-litre T-GDi, all engines can be paired with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed double-clutch transmissions. The 1.0-litre engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Idle Stop & Go is fitted as standard to all models.
A low-emissions plug-in hybrid powertrain will be launched into the Kia XCeed range in early 2020, combining an 8.9 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack, a 44.5 kW electric motor, and an efficient 1.6-litre ‘Kappa’ four-cylinder GDI engine. Paired with a six-speed double-clutch transmission (6DCT), the powertrain transmits up to 141 ps and 265 Nm to the front wheels. The Kia XCeed Plug-in Hybrid is expected to offer an all-electric range of around 60 kilometres depending on wheel size. This will enable drivers to complete the majority of daily drives and short commutes on electric power alone. CO2 emissions for the Kia XCeed Plug-in Hybrid will be announced prior to start-of-sales once the homologation process is complete.
The clean diesel engine used in the Mazda CX-30 offers excellent fuel economy and environmental credentials combined with outstanding driving performance. The unit develops 116 PS at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque of 270 Nm at 1,600-2,600 rpm. It combines an average fuel consumption of 6.6-5.1 l/100 km (WLTP) with CO2 emissions of 173-135 g/km (WLTP).
The Skyactiv-D 1.8 diesel engine’s ultra-high-response multi-hole piezo injectors equip this unit with Rapid MultiStage Combustion. The resulting combination of fuel efficiency, quietness and cleaner exhaust gases delivers smooth, robust performance and superior real-world fuel economy.
Mazda’s latest Skyactiv-G 2.0 petrol engine used in the Mazda CX-30 develops 122 PS at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 213 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It combines an average fuel consumption of 7.3-6.2 l/100 km (WLTP) with CO2 emissions of 165-141 g/km (WLTP).
It features optimised intake port and piston shapes, split fuel injection, a coolant control valve and cylinder deactivation, to deliver higher levels of dynamic performance, fuel economy and environmental friendliness. The Skyactiv-G 2.0-litre also adopts the company’s intelligent Mazda M Hybrid system to support greater gains in fuel economy and more driving pleasure.
For the Mazda CX-30 the Skyactiv-X 2.0 petrol engine is available with a choice of six-speed Skyactiv-MT manual or six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmissions, and may be mated to either front- or all-wheel drive powertrains. Incorporating Mazda M Hybrid technology, it develops 180 PS at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 224 Nm at 3,000 rpm. It combines an average fuel consumption of 7.0-5.9 l/100 km (WLTP) with CO2 emissions of 160-133 g/km (WLTP)
The Mazda CX-30’s petrol engines adopt the company's intelligent Mazda M Hybrid system as standard. Compact and efficient, the mild hybrid system features a belt-driven integrated starter generator (ISG) and a 24V lithium-ion battery. It supports greater gains in fuel economy by recycling energy recovered during deceleration and powering the ISG, functioning as an electric motor, toassist the engine.

I love my Mazda CX30, drives as a charm and sits very comfortable with much space.
One thing for sure: both look much better with *Euro" style license plates vs U.S. plates.

Mazda CX30 does NOT offer (compared to the Kia XCeed): heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, parking assistant (self parking). KIA XCeed does NOT offer (compared to the Mazda CX30): head-up display, 360' view camera, matrix/adaptive/segment led lights, auto-dimming external rear-view mirrors. KIA has much better lane-keeping assistant than Mazda. Mazda has really small (useless) roof window and just max. 5 year warranty;
Robert Pazitny At least in Germany you can extend the standard three year warranty to a total of eight years. Extra cost, yes. But possible.

Sorry but the Mazda definetly has no better interior quality. Even the headliner is some sort of cartboard or plastic , the Ceed has fabric , as an example!
Mazda for reputation and dynamics for me.
Mazda is the better car in every aspect. It has fantastic interior quality feel that KIA is nowhere even close of matching. In fact, it has nicer interior feel than even the German premium brands. The Skyactiv X is superior tech to any ICE in the market.

Please Mazda, upgrade your shifter. It really drags down the great interior. Put some leather on it or something so it doesn’t look so dated. It is the one thing that looks cheap. Even Chevy the king of plastic has a better shifter.

For the same price, the customers will get more from Mazda. It seems that Mazda wins. Maybe I will change my mind after the drives. :-)
I like the XCeed. Why, because I am fed up with other Manufacturers sticking with there bland design. Companies like Hyundia and Kia are making cars/SUV that come with bold futuristic looks and bright bold colours. Christ just look at VW colours choices, boring.... Think my next Car will come from Korea..
