- Here is my Away Carry On Luggage Review and comparison of Away Carry On versus the Away Bigger Carry On. I will show you why I love Away Luggage so much and why it's worth all the hype. Away Travel and an amazing lineup of suitcases and travel bags and has been all the rage for the last couple of years. In this video, I do an Away Luggage Carry On Unboxing and compare the Away Travel Carry On suitcase to it's larger sibling the Away Bigger Carry On. The same suitcase I have featured in a couple of videos on this very channel.
The Away Carry On luggage as expected has the same killer build quality of my Away Bigger Carry On. What's amazing is the space in a case that does look big and bulky. Good products pay attention to the little details and Away does just that with is awesome wheels and laundry bag and yeah even the dust cover. My favorite feature by far is how well they nest into each other for simple space-saving storage.

The mid-size Amazon packing cubes are really good at packing a lot and two of them fit perfectly in the fold-over compartment of the bigger carry-on.

Love the smaller suitcase. We travel full-time in our RV around the USA and Canada. Sometimes we have to fly so I need to get a carry on.

When you took the bigger carry on to Japan did you have to check it? That is my next big trip and I'd really like to do carry on only... But I'm a big girl and would love to have the extra space of the bigger one. I've seen a lot of people mention it works with most major airlines but hadn't heard anything about Asia.
Chrissy Gutierrez, No I did not and I’m actually here now and flew in last week with the Bigger Carry On with Pocket. Basically if you fly in on US Carriers then you’ll be good. I’ve been on several Malaysian carriers and they went by weight more than size. The silly part is every carrier is different no matter what anyone says and to put a rock in the chancletas the person at the gate has to most to do with it. The rules change according to the last ahole who piss off Myrtle at the gate. Hahahahaha
I know you said that other similar polycarbonate hard-sided luggage are "knockoffs" and that Away is "legit," but I have to refer you to Jen's video review comparison of the GoPenguin carry-on at $130 and the Away carry-on (which she loves, btw) at $225:

Thanks for the insight! I’ve seen the GoPenguin stuff and I’d still go Away. Here’s why... if GP claims to be as good as Away why the 2 year limited warranty and the 30 day return policy. They have fewer color ways and are just missing those final lil touches that make good products great. (Full Disclosure: I’m an Ex-Apple employee, die-hard Sony user and a BMW fan. I don’t mind paying a lil but more for quality)

Aloha and Mahalo for the amazing compliment. I fly international a lot but normally on US Carriers so my BCO tends to be fine. My old carry on prior to away was just a touch smaller and I have never has issue on Cathay, Vietnam Airlines Korean Air or Jet Express. Like the dimensions are bigger than the stated info on all the Airline websites but It fits in the overs and the testers at the airport.
One big advantage to the smaller Carry On... I carry less useless crap. hahahahaha Aloha Nui Loa 🤙🏽
I saw I another comment that you’ve traveled Korean Air- did you use the BCO for that? It’s larger than their stated dimensions, but I’m wondering if it’s still small enough to get away with?

I have carried my Bigger Carry On in international flights on US carriers with no issue. I bought the lil guy because some of the international carriers are more strict about Carry On sizes.

FRANCES ESTEVEZ I noticed almost all of the US carriers say 22x14x9 for Carry On allowance yet I’ve never had issue with my Away Bigger Carry On. I think somewhere I saw a video of Jen Rubio (Away CEO) in JFK putting the bag in JetBlue measury thingie and then a bunch more.

Have you traveled with Alaskan Airlines with the bigger carry-on yet? I know they recently changed their size limit for carry ons last year and I want to see if they are uber strict or not! Thank you!

Alaska Airlines has adopted the same measurements as everyone else. They were bigger but now match the rest of the industry. A move probably to get better code share deals with bigger Airline Alliances.

Starting June 4th, 2018, Alaska Airlines' carry on is 45 linear inches (22 x 14 x 9in) or 115 centimeters (61 x 43 x 25 cm) including handles and wheels.
My experience: they all say 22x14x9 and the Away Luggage Bigger Carry On fits in the Checker Thingie (technical term) and the Bins.

Katy Randall yeas the new size standard is confusing because the all say 22x14x9 now and about 10 airlines later it fits. Away says they tested almost all domestic carriers.

No, I didn't have to check my carry-on but let me state I was flying Hawaiian Air which is a Domestic Carrier. Hawaii and JAP are code partners and again didn't have to check them. The irritation lies in it's more the check-in gate person than the actual regulations. Not much dissimilar than TSA or that one Irraz person at the office that has the employee regulations book memorized chapter and verse like the New Testament.

How does AWAY handle (pun intended) it's handle in terms of how it presents itself, if at all, inside the case. Some cases have two 'bars' inside that get in the way of stuff laying flat. Other luggage have the handle bars external to the case so it does not interfere with packing. So, again, how does AWAY build their suitcase handles - do they present themselves as two rigid bars inside the one side of the luggage? Thanks! and GREAT video!
Aloha David, It's on the inside. I feel you with the lay flat part but having pinched the Aluminimum tubing of handels before I see why most companies put it inside.
