Music is Freedom and any way you can share it with more people, I’m all for it 🙌 I started on vinyl and was a typical vinyl snob until someone showed me just how creative you can be with Traktor… new tech allows more ways of being creative., there’s no doubt but I do feel the emotional connection you get from playing a long, live, non pre-recorded sets, is getting lost a bit and that is one of the key things that are, in my humble opinion, the very essence of Dj’ing. That said, either you embrace the new or you don’t… Keep spreading the love people and thank you Phil 🎉
Thank you, for this episode. I sincerely learned a lot 😅 I am excited to start innovative techniques in 2025 like fluid beatgrid, stems and cloud services. I have been using the same gear during 7+ years. (Pioneer XDJ-RX)
The downside to some of this is the loss of ownership of what you're paying for, and companies pushing what they want to sell on their terms. The persistent popup ads in Rekordbox 7 when using high end hardware less than two years old, just to continue using what you already paid for are totally unacceptable. They could just paywall the new features, but no, they drop support. Music streaming services are a nice compliment to a local library but there's nothing stopping them from removing content that you were using (unlikely but possible). And one reason DJs are slow to update hardware is because it's very expensive, and lasts a long time if you take care of it. Sturdiness, ergonomics and audio quality are more important that every lastest feature/gimmick. Like you say Phil, you buy your gear and then forget about it. Does Alpha Theta seriously expect people buy new hardware every other time they unpredictability drop a new product?
I’m looking to upgrade from a Eev 1 to a FLX 10. All my seasoned Dj’s are telling me to wait for 2025. What new controllers are coming. I heard the Rev 7 is going to be revamped
Biggest point you made, ai will only replace you if you let it, but if you learn how to use it to make you more powerful, then that's where nothing can replace you. Happy new years team, see you in 2025
@digitaldjtips I don't doubt it. But I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to streaming. Like you I prefer the physical aspect of music or having the music on my laptop(s). Just hope one day both Vdj and Serato will use Amazon music.
Sucks cause I used to burn friends and family’s CD in my hard drive and now you have to pay for music. I DJ as a hobby just play in my house so I refused to pay for subscription
TYSM for this talk Phil. Updates for those of us who don’t have time to go digging in DJ blogs for the same information. Also what you said at the end on how AI will change the game is spot on. 🙏 Much respect!!
Thanks for this, we do try to share what we feel is important in as many ways as we can! Have you subscribed to the audio podcast? It's another way to get this info (especially useful when driving...)

The way you organize your playlists is your creativity
It is!
You got your finger on the pulse. Thanks for your insights. 🙏
You are so welcome
Thanks Phil. You're by far my favourite DJ informational youtube channel. Keep up the great work and Happy new year
Cheers!

It is a very valid point you make about the emotional connection. Ultimately that's what it's all about!
I use my phone for a hotspot. I use tidal and SoundCloud streaming on one laptop and my other has my music on an internal 4tb drive. Works great.
Good to hear!
We are all eventually going to just be Roadies for the robots
Phil is DJ Nostradamus.
I hope to see Denon DJ come up with some futuristic gears for 2025
Let's hope so :)

I think getting a balance right is important here for users - are you prepared to accept compromises for features?
Does the new course involve teaching eye candy how to dance behind the booth and look busy?
Have you seen my face? Not something I am qualified to advise on 🤣

I don't know the specifics, I'm sure there will be some new controllers though, but FLX10 will be relevant for many years to come.

exactly
Just curious, why review of the new NI Kontrol Z1 mk2? It bumbs me out that its no longer compatible w Traktor 2 for iPad.😢
They have dropped support for the iPad version of their software. Our review is ready, dropping soon.
👍
A.I. is the future, it's inevitable .
Glad to help!
Love beatsource for streaming but got caught out yesterday with bad hotspot signal 😩Having a deep internal library will always be essential
Yeah, streaming isn't always reliable!
Or invest in a mifi device for personal use
Beat Source has the 1000 songs offline storage for use with no WIFI ? I have used mine numerous X's . its 30 something a month. No Wifi
@@keithdodd3570 true, the Offline Library feature is awesome.. But it was an on-the-fly request so that wasn’t an option
@@allgoodgranola6879 Peace to you
OMG . just tried chat gpt .asked it to make 2 playlists 21 & 45 yr olds. Holey hell seconds and it was done. Deffo going to be using it again. 😂😂
When you figure out how to auto get them into your DJ software via your streaming provider, you'll be double hooked!

@@digitaldjtipstunemymusic will make a playlist from text. Probably pretty easy
Technology - embrace it and you win 💪😎 Nice one 🎉
Merry Christmas phil, looking forward to what you bring us in 2025
Thanks! And to you

Well, you have always had to pay for music?
Legend Phil! Well done on all you have accomplished with Digital DJ Tips! We are extremely fortunate to have you as a leader in the community.
Thanks for your support!

Lol everyone is trying to sell their things to the DJ community who are not really getting richer... as if we have an endless money supply.
We're a DJ school, all we sell is DJ training which we are proud to do.
