the only thing i can possibly imagine, is it was not a black metal show. but rather, a metal show that just happened to have one black metal band on it. which is a situation i am unfortunately very familiar with as we were doing a benefit memorial show for a buddy of our band. he liked two types of music, country and metal. there were 5 bands, we were the only metal band. and we went on after a one hour set from some lynyrd skynyrd cover band. and you could tell that of all this this mans friends and family that attended his memorial show, he was the only one that liked metal and I honestly wanted to issue and apology after our set lmao.

I'm from Houston, used to play in a black metal band that once had half a pigs head on stage (that's all the butcher shop had). This band of posers apologizing disgusts me.
My band played a gig with them about a week or two after the incident. What a lot of people don't realize is that they're still children. I think their grandma drove them to the show. Lmao. So yeah, the apology was totally lame and weak, but I'm not too critical of them cause I did a lot of embarrassing shit when I was their age, too. Forever thankful I grew up before the ubiquitousness of social media.

I’ll say this, even as a Christian myself I remember watching the documentary METAL a Headbangers Journey and learned about Norwegian history involving Vikings and the Black Metal church burnings and how satanism is really their thing as appose to Slayer and Venom who aren’t really satanists. I felt like I was reading a history book, it literally felt authentic even scary at times. I used to listen to Dimmu Borgir and Mayhem, I still do every once in a while but those were the last good black metal bands that I ever cared about. They had their heyday and I grew out of it.

I’ll say this, even as a Christian myself I remember watching the documentary METAL a Headbangers Journey and learned about Norwegian history involving Vikings and the Black Metal church burnings and how satanism is really their thing as appose to Slayer and Venom who aren’t really satanists. I felt like I was reading a history book, it literally felt authentic even scary at times. However to know that some black metal bands begin to apologize and of course this statement of black metal being dead, I kind of feel more of this “Score One for the Christians” 😜

I used to listen to Dimmu Borgir and Mayhem, I still do every once in a while but those were the last good black metal bands that I ever cared about. They had their heyday and I grew out of it.
