- Ukrainian special forces are using drones and night-vision technology to fight a Sudanese rebel group called the Rapid Support Forces, who are backed by Russia’s Wagner mercenary group. Kyiv has deployed troops to Africa, in part, because Wagner paramilitaries are mining gold in Sudan and using it to fund Russia’s War in Ukraine.
WSJ’s Ian Lovett explains how the frontline in the war between Kyiv and Moscow expanded into Africa and the tactics that Kyiv is using to fight in Sudan.

100 soldiers is nothing for Frontline in Ukraine, but is a great force for african wars.
They are special forces, not just random soldiers, so 100 is quite a lot.
You make a good point, but I wouldn't blanket statement and say that's it good for African wars, just urbanised conflict in general (just ask France how they were doing in Mali)
@@imyarek Ukraine currently is fighting a rather special forces unfriendly war at home. SOF are perfect for raids and high speed operations. But they are nearly completely wasted in attritional positional fighting, where all their additional training also don't make them much better at holding a position.
Well the job of a special forces soldier isnt to be standard infantry, rather specialised missions, they wouldnt be very efficient in a generalised battle field
They would be. They are often deployed to fight behind the frontlines and sabotage the enemy's main infantry, so they can be useful in a conventional battlefield.

We are just around the corner from just about all participants in warfare using cheaply built, explosive laden FPV drones and other similar such devices.
What will happen as the drones continue to decrease in size, but increase in explosive capability and range? Also there are no real restrictions on such technology. The future is bleak.

My theory on the nord stream pipeline: European leaders wanted to stop the gas as soon as possible (to stop funding russia), but they did not want their voters to be too upset since it affects them a lot - so instead it was easier if the gas was just not an option at all.

I am not surprised, but at the same time i am, interesting and that means that Ukraine seems to be doing better if they can allow for other troops not being dedicated to Ukrainian soil, yet are deployed to Sudan, it says a lot about hurting Russia there as well. As for teaching the Sudan about the drones warfare, we are going to see a lot different tactics used that are not traditional but also traditional in a hybrid battlefield that is going to change the dynamics of WAR that we have never seen, including that of non-state actors using these tactics.

Sudan has one of the largest military industrial complexes of the world. They produce all kind of ammunition, guns, assault rifles, armored vehicles, drones.. sudan military industrial program stopped short of producing long range missiles because of pressure from the regional countries and from the US, which is one of the reasons sudan war started ! If sudan had “scud” missiles this war would never have started because who ever is supporting the RSF will be very careful because of the long reach or “scud missiles”

@@Protolamna The RSF is part of Sudan's security architecture and political sphere, it is subordinate to the domestic intelligence services and works in parallel with the SAF, so they are not rebels, the council itself has split into 2. The legitimacy of either isn't solidified imo because both took part in preventing democratic and self-determination sentiment and processes across Sudan.
