So under rated, it is a crime! Jerry is the kind of guy you could see sitting on a porch with the boys and be happier than if he was playing in Carnegie hall!
Jerry was wondering how old the song was. It was written by Hank Garland and Vaughn Horton and originally recorded by Garland in 1949. Red Foley's record listed Vaughn Horton as George Vaughn. (George Vaughn Horton was his full name).
I met Jerry in person late 1989/90 at the Oklahoma state fair rodeo.. I knocked on his dressing room door and when it opened I presented my gf and her big boobs with her cowboy hat on,I quickly got a photo with them together,he was nice but was high as a kite RIP Jerry very talented one of a kind..
That Peavey T-60 guitar was a heavy son of a gun, but remains one of the best sounding all around guitars that was ever produced! To bad the kid ruined the company.... Jerry Reed is in the top ten ten guitar players of all time in my book. The so-called guitar players now-a-days wouldn't hold a candle to the real players who played clean without all the gimmicks. We have a few today that are good, but not GREAT!
Brought to you by Peavey guitars. 😂 They sound wicked. I’d love to pick up one of those. Probably using Peavey amps too if they’ve got the endorsement deal.
You can recognize the guitar players in the comments because they are the ones giving props to the Peavey T60. Most guitarists play a Fender or a Gibson but the T60 was a great and highly under appreciated instrument. You can still snag one for a reasonable price.
@@kevfullo OMG! Many many years ago, when I was a young fellow I worked for a company that distributed Aria pro II instruments. They were quite good actually. They were manufactured in Japan. The most popular model was the “ Knightwarrior” which was a superstrat with a humbucker in the bridge and a Kahler tremolo. But the real treasure was a bass with active electronics called the SB-1000. They are still out there and they play and sound great!
He was playing Peavey P-60 guitar that the maker was paying him to play; they didn't catch on. Observe his whole band playing them, they are more one-note, sonically from Fenders. He was such a genius, you hardly notice.
JD-totally underated, most know him from his acting(which was excellent)-using the Peavey which was actually a decent guitar-I remember an interview where Clapton(Rolling Stone late 1960's) said there were 100's of guys down south who were better that him.
I will tell you a secret, but true story, my father gave Hank Garland Guitar Boogie and Sugar foot rag,my mom wouldn't allow my father to go anywhere to play or promote his music, so Hank Garland was about 15 years old when my father returned from ww2 and both taught Hank how to play guitar and gave Hank these two amazing instrumentals, but no one else on earth could ever play as well even near the talent my father had,and l don't believe anyone on earth will ever play as good as my father, am telling straight truth 💙, even Chet Atkins couldn't even tie my father's shoes when it comes to music, my father played better than anyone l have ever heard and this is straight truth!!!!!!!!
If you don't like Jerry Reed there's something wrong with you
Son
Amen son
Jerry lived his life with the pedal to the metal!!
I've been Jerry Reed fan, ever since I saw him on Scooby Doo when I was a kid! Best episode ever!
That's a fact...👍

Absolute legend we wont have it again so cherish what these guys did please
Good thing about TH-cam still have the old Country guys and real country entertainment. R.I.P JERRY.
What an exceptionally talented and humble man. His personality was incomparable
he was a horrible person to deal with. one 9f the most biggest egos and cruelest reputation known only among insiders of nashvillie

It was County, Funk, Texas Red Dirt, Blues…. Just damn good music.
He can sing, he can act and he can play like the god of guitar.
Jerry was the best of the best A picker, a singer and a grinner.Music with humor. It can't e beat.
bettor than chet but not as good as roy clark
Jerry Reed also helped Scooby Doo solve a mystery! Chet and Roy never did that! :)
I’ve never heard a Jerry Reed song that was less than exceptional!
wait i thought this was a Hank Garland track?
@capsortee absolutely a Hank Garland song. I think Red Foley put the words to it.
And I don't think anyone had more fun.
Triple Peavey T60s. Only a player of Jerry Reed's caliber could make that a hip and cool sounding thing. Respect and RIP.
According to bass player, Dave Doesn't, Peavey was handing out instruments left and right to the players then. Turns out Jerry liked them.
That's Dave Roe. YT needs an edit option.
Waylon, Skynyrd , Scotty Moore , and a lot of other great players were using Peavey's back then. They sounded good and very road reliable.
best guitarist ever i wish i could of met jerry reed he was a good person R.I.P. Jerry
Wow ! Very tight band , great arrangement and nice seeing all those great Peavey amps lined up behind these legends !
Aww man, Jerry, you were the best, son!
Peavey should have used this for a TV commercial ! Nice collection of T-60s ! Jerry Reed was one cool guitar player !
Yea i agree totally... the man could have had any guitars he wanted and he played peaveys for a while
I've got a Peavey T-15 I think it is somewhere, nice little guitar.
Triple dueling Peavey t25 guitars. Awesome. I never knew Jerry did this song
Triple guitar is great. When done well.
My favorite country guitar player.

Listen to John 5,Daniel Donato,King Fish, there’s a lot of great guitar players today . You just gotta find em.
Yes, the T-60 was so heavy, that I rather decided to forget the beast and not to buy it about 27 years ago.
Can't play it like Hank Garland though. But Yes, we do love Jerry.
i love old peavey guitars and basses, they play great
I had a Peavey T60. Wish I kept it.
Traded it in for a LesPaul. It was heavey but versatile. I should've traded my other guitar instead.
So awesome
Groceries down my throat! Ha ha. Reference from smokey 1! Love you Haas! RIP Jerry!!!
Delightful!!
God damn he was good.
Sure he'd commend your language!!! 🤡 🤪
@@DJK-cq2uy you felt the need to comment that?
most impressive!
I use to have a T-60 in the early 80's and a Nashville 400 amp.
That's enlightening. Thanks for sharing. We can all sleep at peace now
Triple peavey guitars
Looks like they're all playing Peavey t60 models if im not mistaken. Very cool for peavey
Brought to you by Peavey guitars. 😂 They sound wicked. I’d love to pick up one of those. Probably using Peavey amps too if they’ve got the endorsement deal.
I counted seven peavey amps. Five behind the guitarists, one behind the bass player, and one by the keyboardist.
Good stuff

When you get them for free, plus support on tour with amp repair, yeah they can work. I’ll take my telecaster any day of the week over the peavey.
You can recognise what year from which brand they are all playing. I have a soft spot for the Aria Pro II era :-)

So nice that Frank Zappa cared to join the background singers :)

The Frank Zappa of country music.
Whoah what did they have a Peavey endorsement or what?
According to bass player, Dave Roe, Peavey brought a truck load of gear for them to use. No endorsement deal needed.
You 16 dislikers are clearly in the minority. You have no sense of what great talent is.
Thanks Captain

The mustached guy in the yellow doesn't seem too impressed.
Instead of making the Waterboy someone should of talked Reed into making a modernized Reed funk R/B thing...betcha Rubin kicking himself right now!
Didn't know Doug Henning was in JR'S band. 🤣🤣
Does anyone know where I can get a good copy of the entire concert?
Don Crabtree I would also like to know

Hank Garlands famous solo guitar work
Young Joe Biden was a beast on the piano!
Of course Peavey gave them all of those instruments. They were so ugly they had to give them away.
Nothing wrong with Peavey gear back then. They sounded great and very dependable on the road.
Hank Garland.
Look this tune up in regards to him.
