Someone just told me that he was in prison from 92 to 97. I didn't know because I had never done a bio of him past 88. Maybe those 5 years put the brakes on his career.
@@ABoomerReacts Same song really but with an additional verse by Uncle Ricky. ;) Made sense to include him anyway since the song heavily borrowed from Rick's Children's Story.
Loved the album Big Time ...One of Favorite Slick Rick songs is Outkast - "Da Art of Storytellin' (Part 1)" Feat Slick Rick (it doesn't appear on Outkast album) ...
I love that Slick Rick has become one of your favorite rappers. And yes, he has some excellent 90s material too. Here's a couple of my favorites: King (1991...really high-energy, fast paced, exciting beat that you might get a speeding ticket to w/ Rick sounding so comfortable in the pocket, rapidly fluttering syllables & rhyme schemes with ease like a butterfly) Trapped in Me (1999...cool relaxed beat with his trademark laid back delivery: Rick very calmly demonstrates what it's like to rap circles around folks in your sleep lol)
@@ABoomerReacts He did 2 years for attempted murder then another 3 years because they were trying to deport him. It’s a sordid tale involving his cousin.
Slick Rick is like your favorite rappers favorite rapper. Legend. He's in my top 5. He was imprisoned I think for being in the country illegally but not sure so .. but he did an album called The Art of Storytelling. I like Rotten Em on that
Not for nothing but, if you like that "Walk On By" song by Dionne Warwick, I think you'd love Doja Cat's "Paint the Town Red" which samples it heavily. If you ever get to newer school female rappers, I think you'd like her stuff a LOT. As for 90s Slick Rick, he has a song with Outkast called "The Art of Storytelling 4" that's pretty jammin'.
Thanks, Harry! I don't think I'll be reacted to current rappers anytime soon so I'll listen to the Doja Cat song on my own. I actually have 3 Doja Cat songs on my driving playlist. Say So, Go To Town, and Kiss Me More.
Love me some Slick Rick. I don't even know if he ever had a wack song. You definitely have to do "Mona Lisa" by Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar. I'm pretty sure it would change your view of Lil Wayne.
Good song. I was thinking about him the other day when you did OutKast, he did a song will them called Street Talkin'. It's a good song, even though I feel kinda the same way you do about OutKast.
1:35 First of all, before you move on to later albums, you should react to TREAT HER LIKE A PROSTITUTE the first song of The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. I believe Rick had 4 albums. Two are excellent and the other two have good songs but are a little lackluster in there entirety. The other great album was his last album called The Art of Storytelling. A song that you can listen to in private is ADULTS ONLY. A song you can react to is TWO-WAY STREET. Both are tracks from The Art of Storytelling, Rick's last album.
@@ABoomerReacts 50 cent was his protégé but it was unconnected. i read it was over drugs he reportedly was to sell with 3 other guys but he cut them out of the deal and they came back and shot him.
Slick Rick is one of my favorites. I wonder why he doesn't get talked about more.
Someone just told me that he was in prison from 92 to 97. I didn't know because I had never done a bio of him past 88. Maybe those 5 years put the brakes on his career.
@@ABoomerReactsthis is absolutely why. And to make it worse, he had to fight deportation when he got out.
Dana Dane "Cinderfella" is a classic
Yes, it was heavily requested after I reacted to Nightmares so it will def be my next Dana reaction.
My parents car got repossessed with my tape still in the player😢
Classic album never gets old
Badass song! I remember buying this album at 3 cassettes for 5 dollars at the swapmeet.
Since everyone's doing random Slick Rick requests...Cru feat. Slick Rick - Just Another Case Remix, a mostly forgotten gem from 1997.
That song was on my list but not as the remix. Until now. 😁
@@ABoomerReacts Same song really but with an additional verse by Uncle Ricky. ;)

Slick Rick has been in my top 5 MC's since I started listening to hiphop and he's never left.
I hear ya. 😁

Thanks for the suggestions! Neither was on my list.
One of my favorite albums 🎉
Slick Rick,
"Hey Young World"
🔥
Are you requesting that song? Because I reacted to it. 👍🏻
@ABoomerReacts ohhh, ok
didn't remember that..
No...wasn't a request
I always just give suggestions for songs I think are GOOD..
✌🏾
Yes, you do give good suggestions. @@damonjones1291
Slick Rick - 'Sitting In My Car' (remix)
Thanks, Kai! I'll add it to my list.
Slick Rick was born in London and moved to NYC when he was little.
Another great classic by Slick Rick, great reaction!
Thanks, Gary!
You mentioned Busta. Check out Thank You. By him and Q-Tip. It’s the two of them rhyming incredibly. It’s 10 years old but it’s real good
Thanks, Jay! It's def on my list.
Slick Rick "Who Rotten 'Em" is late 1998-99 after his prison stint.
Thanks! That song is def on my list.
Should react to Slick Ricks's Moment I feared
Thanks! That's def on my list.
Yeah, as dude below says, he's got great later stuff too, 'Who Rotten Em' is a really great story telling one, too
Thanks, Phil! It's def on my list.
Great reaction!
Thanks!
Always felt this track needed an extra verse! But yeah Rick just cheers me up too! Great reaction!
Thank you!
Some great story telling tracks with humor on the new Aesop Rock album. “Pigeonometry”, “100 Feet Tall” and “Aggressive Steven”
Thanks, Brian! I'll listen to them off-camera since I rarely react to anything after 2010.
@@ABoomerReacts well in that case there are good Aesop stories pre 2010. Try “The Harbor is Yours” from his 2007 album.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 slick rick went to prison for murder and was locked up most of the 90s/20ks.. read up on it too.. 1❤ peace
I didn't know! I haven't done a bio on Rick that got that far.

This is the third Rotten Em request today. It must be good!
@@ABoomerReacts I like it. The entire album is dope. I also really like Adults Only but idk if you can do that on your channel it's x rated
He has a track with Morcheeba that came out in 2002 that i think you'd like. Its called Women lose weight.
Thanks! That is my first Morcheeba request.

You should do onyx-react right away. It’s a good fight song plus it samples Mona Lisa and you like onyx Boomer 😊 oh, it also has early 50 Cent
Thanks! That song is def on my list and you just made it more likely to be my next Onyx reaction. 😁
Love me some Slick Rick. I don't even know if he ever had a wack song.
You definitely have to do "Mona Lisa" by Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar. I'm pretty sure it would change your view of Lil Wayne.
That song is already going to be my next Lil Wayne reaction. Is it a remake?
@@ABoomerReacts Nah. It might've carried over some inspiration but they're totally different songs.
You should check out Auditorium by Mos Def & Slick Rick
Thanks! It's def on my list but it didn't say it featured Slick Rick. That makes it more intriguing. 😁
Good song. I was thinking about him the other day when you did OutKast, he did a song will them called Street Talkin'. It's a good song, even though I feel kinda the same way you do about OutKast.
I'm afraid that if I mixed something I really like with something I don't like, then I'd just get mediocre. 😜
Nice plug on the Dana Dane video. Now I’m going to that.
Boomer's thought bubble: "Do more plugs". 😜😜
