  • The train between Geneva and Interlaken, takes a charming and bucolic path through the breath taking Swiss countryside. Trains leave Geneva from Gare de Genève-Cornavin or even you can take trains from the Geneva airport. The overall duration of the train journey typically ranges between 2.5 and 3 hours approximately. You might have to take a connecting train from either Bern or Lausanne to reach Interlaken Ost.

Hi. Nice video. Thank you for sharing. Did you stay in Interlaken overnight or is it a day trip then go somewhere else? If so, which part of Interlaken is best to stay at?
Planning our trip in Switzerland, which starts in Geneva, then Lucerne and Zurich :).

Hello, thanks for watching our video!!!! Actually we stayed in Interlaken overnight. We stayed in Ringgenberg (northern shores of Lake Brienz), its 5 minutes by bus from the Interlaken Ost station. We rented a reasonably priced chalet apartment there. A day trip to Interlaken will be very short as there are other attractions and activities nearby which you might enjoy, such as a river cruise on the Lake Brienz and a trip to Harder Kulm (the top of Interlaken). Grindelwald (for the First Cliff Walk) is another option, and Jungfraujoch is close to the Interlaken Ost station.

@@chauvinistictravellers2426 Thank you. This is very helpful. Is the river cruise in Brienz, trip to Harder Kulm, Grindelwald (First Cliff Walk), and Jungfraujoch be a day trip in Interlaken? We're planning to leave Geneva Central Station by 9:30 am. Anticipating that we arrive Interlaken by 12 noon. Will that be enough time for these attractions? Planning to check in a Ringgenberg apartment after. Also, is there a place to store luggage when we arrive in Interlaken?

@@abby6316 Hello friend, River cruise in Brienz, trip to Harder Kulm, Grindelwald (First Cliff Walk) and Jungfraujoch will take one day each. So it would be better if you could plan your trip for 3-4 days around. For luggage locker rooms will be there near to the stations. Just check after reaching there.

Great video and quite informative. Can you please share how you booked this train, and also was it direct or with any transfer?

Thanks for watching our video. We have booked the tickets from the ticket counter at Geneva Central. But you can also book through the trainline.com or Raileurope.com. Mostly, its not direct and you have to take another train by getting down at Bern.

@@chauvinistictravellers2426 Thanks for the reply, we've booked via trainline and I was actually a bit concerned considering the transfer at Bern station is just 8min.

@@oreoslurpee That's great. Nothing to worry about. Most of the time the other train will be waiting at the adjacent platform and you don't even have to take stairs.

It depends which train you are taking. Intercity trains runs at a maximum speed of 200 kilometres/hour. Regio Express and S-Bahn trains operate at a speed between 100-160 kilometres/hour.
