    Loved the update. For the bathroom I would look for a tile paint. That way you don't have to replace it. The paint will last x long time and if you find it wearing off just repaint. See if you can find 24" tiles for the living room. White or grey. A few pictures or art on the walls and some window dressings and you have a party palace! Hey Darrell you might think of setting up a go fund me page.
    Epoxy paint is a good option because it's highly resistant to abrasion and cleaning solutions. Alkyd urethane, enamel paint, and silicone-based paint are commonly used to paint tile. Specific water-resistant tile paints made to withstand the high temperatures and moisture of kitchens and bathrooms are also available.

    • @linkinemerson8620
      @linkinemerson8620 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm no expert but I've seen yt vids of guys who do pro pressure washing & don't use bleach, mostly just the water is enough, or maybe some safer chem. Just thinking about the edge of the wall the bleach killing everything. But perhaps that could benefit your bamboo idea as less weeds or grass for a year or 2. Then again you don't need to pressure wash the wall if it's being covered really.

    The French doors let in so much light and once the glass blocks are done it’s going to look amazing! Can I suggest for the bathroom to do a wet room! Do away with the glass divider and just tile floor to head height and have a floor drain!

    • @Ex-Pensive_Expat
      @Ex-Pensive_Expat  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In the bathroom I have found glass divider / door that rolls like a barn door hanging on a rail. The glass is 3/8ths to 1/2inch and looks very cool. What do you think about that idea?. The bathroom isn't really wide enough for the open area with out getting the toilet seat wet every time you take a shower. That is an issue for me personally. Just something about a wet seat.... But I definitely appreciate the idea and the compliment my friend!!

    Hi, I was so excited to see your latest video on the house. The kitchen is looking fantastic, the range cooker and hood so nice with the matching cabinets from the otherside. Sinks are in....love them! The french doors look great, and the fact that they match the other windows it looks like they have always been there. Not much more to do, except plumbing, cabinet doors, glass blocks which will be an amazing feature. The tiling will finish the look, can't wait to see choice of tiles. Are you going for subway tiling I wonder?
    Yes I agree totally with your views on the bathroom, glass doors will be better, (especially as the one that is there has had its day) and sounds unique being on a barn door type fitting, again cannot wait, I am sure you will fit a new sink in too. The labour is so cheap, and the materials you find are cheap but don't look it!
    I would go for blinds rather than curtains (personal preference), maybe you could find some cheap discontinued blinds somewhere, just a thought?.
    Good idea for the wall with bamboo covering instead of the usual cement render and painting, I would never have thought of that, and it will match the bamboo shaded bar area.
    I am already picturing the finished house and garden with colourful hammocks.
    The fact that you say the temperature is not too high there sounds good too, especially as its not humid because that is the worst to contend with, you just walk around permanently wet, as if you just got out of the pool!
    Oh, and you have a dog too, or does the dog belong to one of the workers? I am so nosey, ignore any questions that may sound intrusive to you, I will understand!
    Until your next vlog, well done to you so far, I am impressed!

    Nice improvements! The coy pond is also a good idea. IMHO the bar would be in a better position parallel to the sink, just in front of the French doors because you'll be able to move all around it leaving three possible circulations from every door. By the way, you could still use it from the sink to the gas burners. Just my two cents.

That’s a must, especially if you don’t speak the language. What’s the water like there, do you know if the visibility’s good enough for ppl to do any spearfishing? That’s where I’d want to be, somewhere I can look out my window and see my boat tied to the pier. But Id even be happy if I had to drive a little to get too the water, i do that now.

    I think it would be great if you could install a pocket door in the bedroom, to access the bathroom, without having to walk through the entire place. The door from the kitchen could stay. I couldn’t tell if there was a tub, but I would shorten that area on the left by a foot, to build shelves for towels and toilet paper. Then the area to the right of the shelves would be a walk-in shower. A floating shelf or two above the toilet could be used for toiletries and a small plant.

    • @Ex-Pensive_Expat

      We can't do pocket doors here. The construction is concrete block which is defiantly no hollow. Just a thought for the hammocks, if you could find thin steel rods you could have 2 run off the top of the wall pillars at a slight angle with the down slope leaning toward the wall. Then have metal rods cemented into the ground going straight up & welded to the angled ones, you could still do or 2 more on the pillars either side for extra strength & for looks, then if you want still wrap it in the bamboo to mask the metal/steel rods.
    You are doing great, I was just thinking the strongest immovable way for hammocks to last forever lol.

      There is some area from the previous cabinets that were not tiled either. I am not sure why I would tile under cabinets knowing where they will be and save the on the per sq ft costs. When I leave this house it will be torn down. The owners bought it for the land and will rebuild another house when that time comes in about 3 1/2 years. I hadn't considered re-tiling the floors in the beginning. The stove is not permanently installed and would not be effected by the new level of the floor if I did re-tile. I have since decided not to retile the floor for now. I will paint the chipped areas and leave it at that.
