"Ah, so you're telling me Tango spent a week designing and building a custom farm to get more redstone? Buff witch farms."
Precisely
@@TangoTekLPtbf it's a really cool concept for which the output rate is only capped by lag performance, so it's actually revolutionary.
And it's always cool to work & develop a custom, innovative solution, esp. since the output with 200 villagers seems on par with a standard witchfarm
Edit: That it doubles as a lapis farm is also pretty nice even if useless lol
They are! Redstone is now a guaranteed drop by Witches in the newest snapshot. And it drops in much higher quantities.
Witch farm spawns near a pillager outpost
Tango: ¿Por qué no los dos?
Might be a few kinks with witch spawning, but I think hybrid farms should be possible
@@lordmctheobalt Its not a new concept there have been a few farms with hero of the village for different things like paper or redstone before
"I used to be a RedStoner like you, then I took a puck to the throat"
Lol 😂
Guess it wasn't the wind after all
@@zacke.1286 lol
"And now I'm better and smarter"
"Doc is 4 millions blocks away", thats the first time Tango's exagerations are accurate xddd
Scar moved out with him lol
@@j_j_j_j_j154 yeah, but between the two only doc intended on the move X3
4 million in the nether that is...
No, it's not accurate. It is accurate if you take Nether into account, but not the Overworld. Doc is 30 million blocks away :D
Tango: builds insane Redstone and portal things. Struggles x2 with teeny chicken in a boat and says, "I'm not very good at this." 😂 Struggles a bit to get it aligned 100%.
Docm77: also builds insane Redstone and portal contraptions. Struggles for 20 minutes to get a Llama aligned 100% accurate in a minecart. Teleports Scar 4 million blocks away from Spawn and asks, "Did you get off the pig?"
Meanwhile, me kills the Llama for a leash and eats the chicken... and both of them remind me how darn good I am at doing stupid things. 😮😅
How did he manage to say "i took a hockey puck to the throat" so casually
I know right ?
My jaw hit the floor and he was like "yeah sorry for the sore throat it happens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
That's hockey for you. It's a tough sport
ikr!! so chill about it lol
Tango is secretly a Canadian lmao
Years of monk/ninja training
Other hermits: " We got to be careful what we say, Cub will turn it into a horn!"
Tango: "oh no now I'm riding his butt!"
It wouldn't be a TangoTek vid if he stopped himself from saying that sort of stuff :p
Other hermits: *says something suss that's even more suss out of context*
Cub: Write that down... WRITE THAT DOWN!
I love what Cub has done with that. Everyone saw the firework permit and jumped on that being his big money maker, but Cubfan turned around and made goat horns the thing letting him start filling a shulker box with diamond blocks.
He's competing with Scar for the title of largest supplier for the horn shop.
Also Tango: "Ahhh! I'm a villager!"
Tango, I know you said you wanted to get more done in this ep but were slowed down by the complexity of the process, inventing up a new farm, but I actually really appreciate seeing that side of things. Makes it feel more 'real' rather than just like "hey, here's this thing I built, it's done."
+
The more I watch the top redstoners the more I get the sense that what separates them from me is that they just aren't willing to accept that their idea is unworkable.
I think the bigger picture here that we're missing here.... Is that Tango, while convoluted and high maintenance, has created a working and sustainable automatic Lapis Lazuli farm.
A "sus" lapis farm lol
I was thinking the same! In 1.21 witch farms will become way more viable for redstone specifically, but is there ANY way of farming lapis besides this type of hero of the village farm? That's kind of big!
@@LeopardMask12 Ish. Like yeah its not entirely useless as a block. It can be used for Enchanting and Blue dye.
But you really shouldn't need 100 lapis every 30 seconds for enchanting... and there are MUCH easier ways to get blue dye.
That said, its important to recognise that if it was multiple types of villiages you could get in this farm.
This probably is a superior way to get Leather then pigman bartering and maybe better then a cow farm.
@@Peregrine1989 Good points, yeah! (Lapis used to be one of my favorite aesthetic blocks, but that was back in, like... 1.4, when we didn't have quite as many options, lol.) I think this would absolutely be better for leather than a cow farm, even if only because there's probably less work in terms of manual input! I'm not at the skill level where I could build something like this, but if I were, I'd use it for clay - loooove the color palette of everything terracotta.
"You can see where this is going!"

Hermits: create a mail system
Also Hermits: invent Minecraft spam
I suppose, wherever there's mail, there will ALWAYS be spam, no matter how secluded and exclusive the mail system is.
It's called junk mail for a reason, it's been a thing since before the internet even existed rofl 🤣
He should figure out a way to do Redstone orders automatically through the mail.
@@StephanAinley Tango said early on that he is thinking of doing just that, can't remember which episode or maybe even a live stream where he mentioned it but it has been said 🙂
Tango taking a hockey puck to the throat and just treating it like it's a normal Tuesday is pretty metal
Hockey players are built different
I genuinely had to parse what Tango said. A puck to the throat could have been fatal and the guy plays it off like he strained his voice shouting in a loud nightclub. My mind is boggling. 🤯
first impulse and now tango has immortalized a rare etho compliment that they can listen to whenever they need the confidence boost xD
what did impulse do?
@@whorlingwisteriain 3rd Life he showed Etho a trick for finding diamonds using clay patterns in swamps, and Etho said “Turns out Impulse is a bit of a genius”. It has been on Impulse’s soundboard ever since.
@@diggoran Thanks so much! I remember the clay-diamond trick, but I didn't know about the soundboard, that's awesome!
12:55 vines don't have a hitbox but they also disable collisions, so they weren't getting pushed into the corner
And also minecarts pick up entitys when they collide. So villagers in vines dont get picked up
Also he probably couldn't skipped the pressure plate drama if he used tripwire if the boat push was far enough.
"I fell, I fell again. AHH HAA I'M A VILLAGER NOW" -Tango Tek 7:11
A brazilian youtuber actually did make a farm with this gifting mechanic about 4/5 years ago! His name is Viniccius13, he got villagers for lapis, clay and redstone in his let's play survival world. He did not use any portals, thought.
I don’t remember the design, but I believe Raysworks designed a raid farm which also works as a hero of the village farm.
Viniccius13 mencionado
Not to mention ilmango's 20k redstone/hour design on scicraft
@@Questerer It was basically what Viniccius13 did, as well. He just put a bunch of clerics and masons near his raid farm to benefit from the hero of the village
yeah in terms of copying sb build it in his hardcore as well
You need the lapis permit now, Tango. That's the best lapis farm I've ever seen!
The mail system is just amazing like you just sent 10 hermits stuff from your base without having to travel.
I'm not sure I would follow so happily if Pearl ever told me to "come in here in the back of my truck" like that.
...followed by "I've got gifties for you." Guess it's not as creepy coming from a woman. 😄
She also has a pet animal to lure you in.
I love how Tango knows scars a builder and still sends him a coupon. Smart man knows he may get a chunk out of ore mountain for his efforts
Scar uses blocks that are used in redstone as building blocks so makes perfect sense to send him a coupon.
“Greatest red stone master in the world” 🤣 omg this is 😆 you just need to make sure Etho says that more often 🤣 😊
It would be awesome to have that play automatically every time someone opens the door of Two Tek Delay
When did he say that?
@@ellap6828Last episode. During the meeting of the "late night crew" Etho was mocking Tango for having to _mine_ for cobblestone.
Don't forget the impulse one!
@@eledatowle8767 Great idea, I hope Tango sees it!
I love the way tango speaks English when he does red stone. “and then I do da boop.” “I said do da boop. “ “Chicken harder” “be free”
Using a binary counter as decoration is amazing xD
The little minecart reminds me of those old-fashioned restaurants where a little train would go around
Old Fashioned? I've seen a Burger King do that! (Although I think that location has sanitized the whimsy out of their decorations since then. Removed the train and it looks the same as any other Burger King now.)
tango, spamming villager eggs: "you can see what's gonna happen"
dozens of villagers: *instantly start taking damage*
3:23 OH CUB!! I have another Horn sample for you!!!
The side eye the villager gave as Tango sent him up in his minecart at 14:52 got me good, holy moly xP
The slimes at the start are such a huge spoiler for the rest of the episode 😂
Kerbal Space: Always check your staging.
Tango Tek: Always check your rails, water streams, beds, redstone, villagers and chickens.
At first I was like
"You play hockey??"
Then I went
"Oh yeah, sympathy. . . I hope you're doing well."
All the people worried about Mojang buffing witch farms don't realize that Tango needs redstone now, not in some future patch 8 months from now when Hermitcraft updates to it. Awesome job, Tango! I don't have the patience or skill for what you do, kudos!
Future patch? The snapshot released yesterday, and 1.21 is coming within the next couple of months, not next year.
Also, we all know Tango lives for designing a new farm.
@spicyseliph after 1.21 gets released they will wait for some mods to get updated and then change, so 8 month is a good guess I think.
doesn't he have a raid farm already built on the server? He's not doing this because he needs to
@@InterimName ah good point. I forgot he had that. Presumably this is actually more effective at getting redstone per time spent AFK (maybe?), but it still made for a good video and idea for people to copy in their own worlds in the meantime if they like it.
Awww SNAPPERS!
Tango got his voice back!
Nobody mentioning the low buzz noise in his mic?
@@MrGrimdekDidn't he just change setups?
I'd give him a few, before he gets that straightened out.
Before that, hope he gets his eyes checked.
If you don't know, you've never seen him play "Among Us".😂
22:17 Tango (very seriously): "Trust me. It's gonna work."
0 seconds later: "OH NO OH NO OH NO OH NO OH NO"
Tango, that cut was so freaking funny 😂😂😂
Haha, nice Etho quote for the slimers. Might need a horn too.
The audio wasn't particularly clean-it has Cub and BDubs laughing in the background-so it probably wouldn't sound good as a horn, but for a _Slime Entourage_ (::cough::) I felt like the noise enhanced the effect.
I do think my next revision might append the track instead of replacing the sound so that it's not quite as cacaphonous when you're dealing with 8-12 baby slimes.
What did the slimes say? I couldn't understand a word.
Tango! For your binary counter feature on your factory you should have a custom sound play when the counter reaches the end of its count and starts over! Just a thought. Also amazing job with the new restore/lapis farm. That is crazy and very innovative. Great new farm for the new update too
The only thing I can think to improve here is to slightly shorten the 30s timer, so that the villagers throw their gifts just as you're about to finish teleporting to the nether. Right now they throw the gifts, and only then do you start teleporting. Small difference, over many loops should add up to significantly better rates!
In any case, this farm is incredibly cool, so smart!
Good idea
Hero of the Village farms have been around since the effect itself was in snapshots; Doc has a video about a HotV-based clay farm from snapshot 19w13a. Scicraft also has a 20k redstone dust/hour farm that was their main redstone source last I heard.
Yeah came down here to comment this
Not even a hard search to find things: Hero of the village farm
It's the portal aspect to reset the cooldowns that's new
@@Shawn_Steward That is also not new. That's been a thing for as long as it's been necessary to use that for hotv farms.
Sci Craft has built two HoTV farms, one with portals using this mechanic, Kayzm used this mechanic but with end gateways, Stromne has really similar one but without portals. The fact, that you figured this out without help of hivemind is impressive!
it's crazy how tango is focusing on the fact that it's it's powerful redstone farm, but I'm more looking at one of the first major farms for lapis (at least I've ever seen) which previously has been through exclusively mining
Been around for years at this point. ilmango's got a vid on scicraft's version from a year ago already.
Hockey pucks are not Oreos, no matter how much they may look like them. You take the Oreos to the face, you block the pucks.
This is a fascinating look into the process of developing one of these farms, and even with the witch drop buffs coming, I still think this farm will have its advantages - mostly flexibility. Once raids are done via potions, the HotV farm can be *anywhere* instead of being location-locked like witch farms; and of course, you can choose to farm any villager-dropped items just by choosing different villagers. A true Tango masterwork once more.
I agree, witch farms will have a massive output, but the nether portal build has much better flexibility
man Tango is worth more than 20 millions subs. mixture of goofyness and chaos and brains is just on a level much higher than most creators.
Loved the troubleshooting in this one; not everything needs to be chaotic and all over the place (although everybody loves seeing the interactions between Hermits)
Suggestion on what to do with all of that Lapis: If you're not going to build with the blocks, you can contact all of the Hermits with blue/light blue/cyan items (Concrete, Dye, Glass, Terracotta, Wool, all that jazz) and see if they'd like some in exchange for repeat business or discounts on their goods
You know that they'll be coming in anyway, but it'll at least be a good way to not clog inventory space; they're doing you a favor at that point lol
You know the farm is good when there's some scadoodling involved.
Don't worry about raid farms being nerfed
The newest snapshot just heavily buffed witch farms, specifically their redstone output
The snapshot version this can be found in is 24w20a
What is being nerfed in them?
I never created a raid farm of my own just curious though
@@StSinister07im not 100 oercent sure but im pretty sure its because the pillager captains dont auto give the effect anymore, and instead drop a bottle of evil or something,i dont really know how it impacts rates tho
@@StSinister07 they are making it so pillagers drop ominous bottles not just give you bad omen and this means that u cant just afk while swinging your sword because u need to drink the bottle
@@StSinister07 bad omen requires you to drink a potion now so they can't be automated anymore
@@StSinister07 bad omen will instead become a potion, so it's harder to fully automate
I had no context for the intro and thought you had finally lost it.
all the great ones do eventually
Eyyy. This feels a really classic type of video for you. I remember subbing to you all the way back in the Iron Foundry days so this is great to come back to!
The greatest redstone master in the world sure does know how to make a good episode intro! Love the resource pack lol
It's on Modrinth and PMC, just FYI. It's called "Slime Entourage."
Putting all the villagers in that space and only cutting out when they start taking entity cramming damage is hilarious, and the kind of humor I love from Mr. Of The Tek Variety
9:12 ilmango actually made a hero of the village redstone farm in his SciCraft 2 series, episode 5 in September 2022.
the Hero of the Village farm concept has been around for awhile. I first saw it on Methodzz's channel, they've used it on SciCraft as their main source of redstone since they dislike the use of raid farm, ilmango has made a video about it titled "SciCraft 2: 20,000 Redstone Dust Per Hour As A Gift (Episode 5)". Other concepts have also been made by people like Stromne or Kayzm who have also published videos about them and there are a lot more that are not published on TH-cam.
Thanks for highlighting this - you beat me to it. Note that the Ilmango video is called "SciCraft 2: 20,000 Redstone Dust Per Hour As A Gift (Episode 5)".
@@eynsofminecraft oh right I messed that up for some reason, thanks for letting me know. I fixed it now.
Why don't they like raid farms?
@@chickenfarmer321 they think they are too over powered and provide a lot of items which get rid of the need for other farms iirc
What a great response to the raid farm nerf, although witch farms are now getting a decent buff, but my hat is off to your highly original solution.
glad you are recovering, puck to the throat can be serious
Tango beware! Villages may get struck by lightning if not careful! And become witches!
i saw he has a copper lightning thing on top of his portal, so probably won't have to worry
He's aware, though it's possible he forgot to include protection. His breeder has lightning rods, for example.
@@RyanEglitis he's got a lightning rod up top! you can see it at 20:30 when he's swooping around.
TangoTek time! The slimes caught me by surprise, not going to lie.
On the troubles of picking up villagers: if an entity is "climbing" (eg in vines) colision is removed and minecarts pick up mobs they colide with. Therefore you cant pick up any villagers that are touching the vines
That's interesting. Thanks for explaining that... Might help me with my future builds when I get that ambitious.
I laughed harder at "Chicken harder!" than I should have XD
This is an amazing HotV farm. What would be really neat is "banks" of villagers for different items. I.e. press a button and the 200 clerics drop down a chute and along a water stream into lazy chunks so no lag (lazy while using the farm, you'll have to load them for water streams/minecarts to move villagers), then another 200 villagers (fletchers, masons, etc) got fetched from lazy chunks by water stream and loaded into the loot chamber. Then the redstone/lapis farm could be a clay/arrow/leather/wool farm on demand.
A glass floor in the crafting room would be nice it would scar proof it and you can still see everything
I remember when Tango helped Impulse make a hero of the village farm and kept saying how pointless it was . . . Now Tango spent a week making his own!
This villager-gift-farm concept definitly has been built on some tech-servers before, but I never heard people using the nether to reset their cooldown. Great engineering!
ilmango's design used this, though the design he ended up using included water in the nether, cause SciCraft.
@@RyanEglitis That's true, but the water in the nether isn't strictly necessary for that farm, it made things simpler though
That intro is fun icl :P

Tehehe binary counter my beloved
You should probably make the timer for the portal slightly shorter. At the moment you're starting your portal animation after the villagers throw their items. It would make more sense if they threw their items just before you actually teleported.
Yep. Good idea

Super duper LOVED watching the farm design especially the whole process of try fail Tango-noises fix try again.
Tango, the Greatest Redstone master in the world.
Boat chicken is kinda like the mascot of this farm, so he DEFINITELY needs a name!
Thanks for showing a lot of the process of building / debugging this redstone farm. So many others are just glossing over their farm builds in favor of regular building.
I just binged all of Tango’s episodes yesterday and he just uploaded a new one! What perfect timing!
Id love to see more collaborative bases in the future of hermitcraft, imagine what a few hermits working together could due
I think impulse n gem got close to perfect unity last season
I love the concept of the Hero of the Village farm! You can also use it for clay or wool, depending on which villager you put in there. Brilliant!
i know this has been said a million times, but redstone really does feel like magic to me. and then i don't mean the programming circuitry parts, i mean everything else you stick in there to make it work. vines to ward off entity cramming. sea pickles to get the spacing exactly right. it honestly looks like the ingredients to some sort of arcane ritual, and i love it.
We really need a resource pack that turns villagers into Minions, for all of these cartoonish moments when they fall off cliffs and make farms problematic XD
On a server I used to play on, I actually would use hero of the village because in the "town" section only passive mobs would be allowed. Basically peaceful mode in said part of the server, but you could teleport to another world which was basically the wild, and has the nether, end etc. So because you couldn't zombify the villagers and convert them there was no way to decrease their prices. I then realized hero of the village might work, went to the wild made a simple raid farm area to get hero of the village one at a time, travel back to "town" and my villagers would start tossing items and decrease their prices.
It worked well enough, except yeah there was a cool down after the first 30 seconds, so I would only get 1-2 drops a day, and there was no way to travel to the neither in "town" but I guess I could have done it in the wild but that would have involved more steps. I did however realize that I could leave said server and join one of the other servers and do stuff while waiting for the day to pass (if I couldn't sleep and pass the day which most of the time you couldn't because no one else would sleep) and come back for a min. to receive more gifts and my hero of the village timer didn't go down while I was away. Thus making it seem like I logged off the server while the day continued to pass in the server.
The gift's weren't much and thus only used it to get decreased prices to buy stuff but I still set up a decent villager trader design that was also hero of the village compatible with a hopper minecart going around underneath picking up items. Pretty sure I was one of the only ones who was doing it since no one else would bother with hero of the village.
Also side note, because said server was set to normal difficulty in the wild, a player I knew wanted to try and convert some villagers and get decreased prices. I helped them make a giant covered area with lots of villagers in minecarts and let zombies loose to convert some, while most died. They were able to get a handful of converted villagers. A big pain vs hard mode which is 100% conversion rate.
mojang: increases redstone drops from witch farms
tango: *don’t bother.*
I love the absolute journey of every single project tango does. Nothing ever works in his favor which means he and the audience are always forced to learn something with every new task. It sounds frustrating but its actually fun and i wouldn't have it any other way
Saltwater gargles are nasty as hell, but they're GREAT at reducing irritation and swelling. It sounds like you have been, but make sure to get plenty of vocal rest too!!!
I think Ilmango and the SciCraft guys had made a Hero of the Village based redstone farm back in the day.
Tango: I am proud of you for inventing a way to keep raid farms 'relevant' in 1.21 update. But: Witches may be even better than ever before, maybe find some cool new farm for them too?
He's aware, mentioned it in his streams that Just as he spent ages designing a replacement for his raid farm, they release an update that kinda makes this useless (for redstone) again 😂
as someone who really appreciates villagers, i love this farm! it's nerdy, it's cool, you can get all different items with it. very nice
I see complex builds like this and I'm like "...I made toast this morning..." Lol
Tango, your redstone genius never ceases to amaze me
Thank you for sharing the creative process, warts and all!
Tango gonna Tango and invent another absurdly amazing farm.
Free cam is not cheaty cam. It's only cheaty if you use it to find locations/resources without expending the effort to do so.
the amount of effort on this video, you are trully the greatest redstone genious! well deserved resource pack for all the villager AI juggling
Tango. You are killing it again. Ground breaking farm. Just when you thought there wasn’t another farm left invented. BOOM. tango swoopipty in.
Tango! I've been seeing you on the TH-cam trending list lately my man! This feels sort of cheesy, but I feel proud of you! In some small way I've been on this journey with you. One of my earliest memories of Minecraft (sooo long ago, haha!) is building your O.G. iron farm and how much I LOVED your redstone tutorials. I give all credit to you, Etho, and Mumbo for igniting my passion for Minecraft and being a redstoner. You will be encoded into my Minecraft DNA for the rest of time. I remember the day you were invited to Hermitcraft and how happy I was for you. Then you hit 1M subs! And now you're on the trending list for the last few videos! I can't say enough how happy I am for you and how much you deserve all the success you're getting. Well earned, my man!
black glass with dark grey glass would look great in the hall so you can look down and see the guts of the machine
Tango your voice doesn't sound bad at all, sounds pretty normal to me o7
Check out his 'pooh bear' stream on his second channel, Tango Tek 2. It sounds heeeella different there 😅
I think the reason i never get bored of tango videos is because it’s like he’s constantly talking in 2x speed. (which is a good thing)
Thank you for showing us the behind the redstone. It was very interesting to see how it all works from the failures to the final finish work farm. The feeling of getting a redstone machine to work even in my case a very simple one, is still such a great feeling. Would love to see Etho’s reaction to your farm. Great work Tango.
I am straight up dying laughing at the villager moving difficulties! lmao
The way the video starts with the slimes is really funny after the rest of the video.
that's INSANE... at this rate you're gonna invent time travel before the season is over.
it's always a treat when a video of yours comes out :] hope you feel better soon, but take your time healing-your fans are patient!
Even with witch's redstone drop getting buffed there is a place for this farm, there are other good gifts. We already have the lapis, that would have helped out with cub's pyramid quite a bit. There is also clay, a farm using mud and dripstone would have to be huge to hit these numbers. Tipped arrows are another good option, while you can't specify which one you get you won't have to farm dragon's breath anymore for arrows. Empty maps are maybe the bottom of what this farm specifically is useful for, but who needs that many maps?
There are a couple gifts that are still useful, but have better farms, like leather(hoglins), wool(shearing), food(hoglins), but having a multi-purpose farm can be useful, especially if there were some way to swap out and unload the excess villagers.
This isn't a new concept - lookup SciCraft 2: 20,000 Redstone Dust Per Hour As A Gift (Episode 5) by Ilmango
That intro clip was the greatest clip in the world lol
I absolutely love how tango consistently reinvents the game of Minecraft we all know and love!! Bravo tango , you truly are the redstone master
An improvement for anyone who is planning on building this farm. There are 2 things that can count as a "village" for the purpose of starting a raid. Either a claimed bed like Tango used, or a claimed workstation, which could probably be fit into the wall of the villager chamber removing the need to build the extra bed chamber and the villager inside.
Ouch! Hope you feel better soon, don't stress your voice too much :)
