Fun fact, Nemeses Corridor is a one card Thunder Dragon Colossus because it is a Thunder monster that activates in the hand, and it specials itself to the field (letting you tribute it for Colossus). Another fun fact, Nemeses Corridor has exactly the right stats to be searched by Cupid Pitch.
Back when Halqadon was legal, one possible line would go into Cupid Pitch into Corridor into Colossus, on top of a bunch of other negates that the Halqadon helped set up.
i feel like the fact that nemeses corridor makes colossus splash-able should've been part of this discussion tbh

But Dawn has been banned since forever and Halq is gone.
That combo was only ever possible in Master Duel, and with Halq now banned in that format as well, Colossus isn't doing anything outside of Thunder Dragon Link decks.

I think Chicken Game would be a fun card to examine. Banned in the TCG, at 3 in the OCG, and mostly only relevant in drawspam decks like Exodia. Weird but interesting card.

My problem with the Thundra Fusions is their alt. summoning conditions, essentially turning them into over glorified Link-1s. Either make them hard require hard fusion summons, or actually require contact fusion, like banishing the materials on the field.
I'm not sure about that because banishing them would then proc their effects...
As a thunder dragon player I believe this card should get an errata to where the condition to be summoned should be a thunder dragon monster instead of it being generic. I still think it would be strong but it would be harder considering you need to use thunder dragons instead of corridor. Obviously it should be at 1 regardless if it does come back bc 2-3 is way too strong

From what I remember, Colossus was more notable for its effect on the metagame than its actual performance. When it was allowed at 3, Sky Striker and Salamangreat were the decks sweeping tournaments, Thunders were just a "gut check" to any deck that wanted to make it past table 500. Basically, it was Crooked Cook on steroids.
Colossus is one of those cards that you could unban and put to 1 or you can just keep banned because its a floodgate with self-protection.
If master duel is anything to go by it'll do very little on it's own to warrant attention

Really hope they bring it back at 1. By the time I was able to try to play thunder ds colussus was long banned, and anytime I think about trying them out I see their boss monsters and I think ".....how am I supposed to play with this?". At best it gives you an easy to summon consistent big beater bigger than blue eyes. Everytime I go to look for deck builds on thunders now none of them are played raw anymore. Currently thunders are only ran as an engine now. I'd love to play thunders but as an archetype, not as an engine to summon monsters that have nothing to do with them.
At this moment I run thunders as my core but bystial as a extra engine. This makes the deck more consistent

I don't even think Accesscode can stop it because you can't respond to it's effect *activations* and if my memories correct, Colossus effect is something that happens on the resolution of the destruction effect.

I feel it can be unbanned to at least 1 to text the waters(I believe it’s the case in the ocg). Same deal with el shadoll construct

Also a good idea for videos: show Carl some Archetypes and how they play. I have done the same to friends who play Magic and didnt get archetypes because it doesnt translate well to the Tribe system they use.
IMO: Colossus should not be unbanned without a minimum of an errata that makes it require thunder dragon(s) to summon it. The fact that it can just be plopped down on any thunder effect makes it faaar too generic, and able to abuse any decent thunder type monster from its printing onwards.
But if it required thunder dragon(s), it would at least force you to play some thunder dragons in the main deck.
So Spright + Colossus (which likely wont even synergise well because Pixies is not a good card so may not be played) is a problem, but Tear Ishizu at tier 0 is preferable? If Sprights could access Colossus and make it faster than Pixies allows, that's the end of a tier 0 format, and that's FANTASTIC NEWS.
Colossus would come back and be another Dragoon - very powerful card, hardly any impact in the TCG. It wont get played in many decks and if anything, would just become another generic fusion option like DPE.

I think bringing it back to 1 is probably ok. BUT that's only because Union Carrier is banned. Buster Lock makes Colossus too strong. IDK why they still allow that on Master Duel.

Yeah that would be interesting. Most people still have PTSD from that format but well, it’s been almost 10 years since then and the card that had initially caused their ban got banned itself. The wind one is at 1 and isn’t format warping so I’d imagine all of them at 1 would be fine
Honestly the only one kind of concerning at 1 copy would be redox *maybe* as an additonal extender in dragonlink similar to how ¨hey would search out World Legacy Guardragon when Ib, The World Chalice Justiciar was legal

if they made it so that only thunder dragon monsters can summon it instead of Thunder monsters then i believe it can be unbanned since its exclusively locked by an archetype and they gave thunder dragons more support then the deck could be considered a rouge and fun to play because its unique in its playstyle

Personally, I think the banlist exists as a metric of what Konami thinks should exist in their game. Even if Colossus is easy to out, I don't think the anti-searching effect is a healthy thing to allow in the meta because then it promotes Konami making other cards that also completely shut down searching and those cards will likely have other stronger effects.
I’m going to have to call this one out. Konami *designs and prints* the cards. If they didn’t want it to exist, they shouldn’t have printed it in the first place. Konami is always printing broken cards and giving support to broken cards or strategies and people say, “Please ban” instead of saying, “Stop printing these cards in the first place.”
The ban list should only be for cards that somehow become broken with time. As in another card was printed that has a weird interaction with a previously printed card resolving in an extreme imbalance. Or cards that simple become strong because a game mechanic changed, i.e. Ancient Fairy Dragon. Or, Crystron, Verte, etc. that were designed as support for a specific master rule and now that those restrictions were lifted they became oppressive. Ban lists shouldn’t be “Ops! We printed this knowing it’s OP. Our bad. Teehee.”
@@DigiTism Konami designers, like all people, are capable of mistakes. Although we don't have and hard proof I think they've shown repeatedly that the way they playtest new cards isn't sufficient. There are plenty of people who ask Konami to stop making cards like this but a desire to sell new product is incompatible with wanting to maintain a game with healthy cards. The only way new things sell is if it's better than what already exists. If a reliably card that says "your opponent cannot search cards" is in the meta game, everyone who can use it will use and the only way for Konami to get people to stop using it is to print a better card with the same effect. If they keep Colossus banned then they don't have to print a better anti-searching card. The implicit message is that they just don't have to print any anti-searching cards.

@@adamb1117 you can still sell more product by putting into the game more cards for counter strategies. An example being I search, you Ash, I Called By, you Ghost Belle. New cards don’t have to be “better” at what old cards do. You can simply design cards that help diversify, interact, etc. with existing cards. That would expand deck variety and still sell. Thinking about cards in a “they can only be better” is how we’ve gotten so much artificial power creep (I’m considering cards that are obviously printed to be stronger and not cards that happen to synergies well with new cards on this category). Konami has been doing this for way to long not to have guidelines and other resources as a template for game design. They can also look outside of their on game and look at other popular card games to see what has and hasn’t worked and why. I do understand where you’re coming from though. A company wants to sell and make profit and players want “stronger and better cards”. Those two things do make sense and are valid viewpoints.
If they don't unban it can they at least drop something with the same summoning requirements but a weaker effect? I want to be able to climb to Titan on paper.
I do think a big oversight is that nemeses corridor exists. Any deck that banishes any monsters can just make a nemeses corridor be live. Any deck that spams level 4s can also just go into primathmech laplacian --> search nemeses corridor --> corridor effect to special --> make colossus.
If you do all that work for a droll on legs, then you should go back to the drawing board when deck building. There is no world where this is a good choice to play.

I think it should be at 1, if you look at Master Duel where it is at 1 and is in a format with Union Carrier and Dragon Destruction sword, Colossus isnt being played that much at all. It is only mainly in Thunder Dragon decks with a few being slotted in.
Remember its protection effect needs thunder monsters in Grave so if you arent running a thunder deck you cant protect it easily. Like they said there are so many answers to it now
At limited or semi-limited would be fine. We already natively run cards to get rid of boss monsters regardless: Dark Ruler No More, Forbidden Droplet, Unicorn, etc. and we already run cards to get rid of towers as well. Colossus’ banish effect makes it Tower-lite/like.
The card in itself isn't horrible in today's format but so many decks could exploit it
tbh i think it could be limited just to kinda test it out especially since we have tearlament and ishizu kinda running over and they dont really get affected by t dragon that much however, again this could come back at 1 and absolutely ruin a lot of decks but it hasnt been a probelm in the ocg being at 1 so i dont see why they cant put it at 1 in the tcg at least just the test out the waters for the card
It's an unkillable Droll with legs that can be summoned outside of its archetype using a 1 card combo. It shouldn't come back without at least an errata in its alternate summoning condition because currently any half-decent thunder monster is able to bring it to the field basically for free. The problem isn't the Thunder Dragon deck itself, but Colossus being used as a really consistent engine in other, stronger decks. Most Nemeses monsters can bring this card easily, especially in decks like Floowan. On top of everything that extremely strong deck already does.
If people hate Mystic Mine and DPE, imagine a format with Colossus as well. Yikes.

It's not that good in MD and OCG.
Probably since the engine isn't that consistent nowadays and this card not that hard to out. If they decided to unban Colossus probably limiting Corridor to making Colossus more playable.
Also it powers up Bysstial Thunder Dragon and is able to compete against top tier meta like Tear or Spright
@@zephyrionz It could be interesting for the meta for sure, although I think Ishizu kinda broke the game atm and the way Konami accelerated yugioh's powercreep by a lot in the past few years makes every new product exponentially more broken than the last.
Also, limiting Corridor would be the best move for Colossus to come back, so it wouldn't be so easy to summon outside its deck.
The problem imo is twofold:
1) Colossus' alternate summon is still too generic, Konami would have to be careful not only creating any new thunder monsters but any card that could potentially search any thunder monster that can summon Colossus.
2) It might not impact the meta that much, but given its price, almost no cost to slap into any deck and summon in your turn along your full combo, it could warp lower tiers and 4fun play by a lot. It's stronger than both Dragoon and DPE (at least imo, because floodgate, protection and constant effect), easier to slot and summon.
Most of that can be solved by just adjusting the alternate summoning condition to require a thunder dragon monster instead of any thunder monster. That way it can still be used on TD and not be as generic.
One card I see very few people talk about, even though everyone is always complaining about the game being solitaire now is Royal Oppression. Could/Should Royal Oppression be unbanned?
Colossus is still plenty scary to go up against though. Especially with my brick-eyes deck.
It's not a problem in the toxic Bo1 in Master Duel, definitely wouldn't be a problem in the TCG. Unless there's a meta deck that can abuse it

As a thunder dragon player myself, I will say TDC at 3 is absolutely broken...however 1 minimum should be allowed in TCG. With the amount of negate cards from infinite impermanence to effect veiler to the solemn package and finally Kaijus. This card can be easily beaten

Man it's been a hard while since the last time I play Yugioh and I played until Link rules changed that's when I dipped. Back in the day I remembered people clamoring for this card to be banned or limited while their was outs for the card your opponent generally try to play around it or just summon multiples I remember playing Kaijus just for crap like this. I didn't know the speed of the game got that fast until the point that you could limit Thunder Dragon Colossus and it can be okay.
I'm a rogue deck combo player and this is legit like the healthiest tier 0 archetype and boss monster i've faced. It just says "fight me real quick stop playing solitaire" you can out it pretty easily and if you know how to deck build effectively and save resources and not overextend for no reason you're likely just gonna have an out for it the moment it hits the board. Other than blocking solitaire, it just kinda.. sits there lol this is easily a limit imo but it can be at 2 for all I care xD though thats my bias because it really doesn't scare me personally. Get rid of that stupid nemesis corridor problem solved lol TDC itself is a healthy card, its other dumb cards that got it banned like what why does one of the most fun decks I have played against have to be done so dirty like this? It is crazy easy to summon though, so erata is a good option.
Would love to see a video on Victory Dragon if there isn't one already.
Also I can probably try to convert Yugioh into Magic cards or vice versa Magic into Yugioh cards because I have knowledge of both games and their rules. And I have done it before for fun, it's not perfect but interpreting cards from 1 game into another is fun.

Thunder Dragons with this card would be a ...fine deck in the meta. Still rogue, but a lot better. This card is just waaaaaaaaaaay too generic and easy to spam for something that's essentially "infinite ash blossom". It'd just be another endboard floodgate for the 1 card combo decks.

regardless, the thunder dragon archetype is one of many dozens or hundreds of archetypes that are so cool and/or amazing and/or fun concept-wise.
This and master peace, and harp horror can come back.

There's a difference between effect be negated and not allow to do something. At least for effect negated, I am able to do something (best case that your main goal is in the cost and not the effect). However, not allow to do something means you can not perform that action. Additionally, the self build -in protection makes it more annoying.
I know a way to convert Life Points from Yugioh to Magic and that's by percentage 20 out 20 is 100% of your life for Magic and 8,000 out of 8,000 is 100% in Yugioh. So a 2,600 Attack 2,400 Defense creature in Yugioh will translate to 6.5/6 or if we round up a 7/6.

@@sobbles6242 Mine isn’t the only amazing field spell and they clearly like to keep making those as it’s a great design space to keep powerful cards from being used with each other as only one field can be out at a time. Essentially I’m saying that Ancient Fairy would be limiting future card design if it were taken off.

The problem with Colossus is the splashability, in MD you see Tri-Brigade, Adamancipators and other stuff playing it, if only Thunder Dragons could use it like it was said in the video it's not a problem, but it's like Zeus, the effect of the card is very strong, but not exactly overpowered on its own, but having that very easy to accomplish alt summoning condition is the problem, dealing with Colossus + Titan is annoying but not that hard, but dealing with Colossus + 4 negates + scythe is pretty much impossible
How does tri brigade even get this out without nemesis corridor which you have to hard draw into?
And even if it does tri brigade endboards aren't oppressive
Also if they just banned block dragon already admancipator would get neutered

Only off of Pixies, if you didn't trigger Starter or Gigantic earlier that turn. And since Pixies can only trigger during Damage Calc, they can make it in-archetype no earlier than turn 2
TDC can come back to 1 but will it probably not any time soon. Konami still is making money off pot of prosperity and other decks such as spright(konami's new favorite thunder deck). Tear could evolve into a TD type of deck if the earth fairies get hit and I'm sure if Konami hits tear they would want them out for a bit.
Colossus can def go to 1 since it isn’t banned in master duel and it doesn’t really see that much play
I say it can't come back without getting rid of the alternate summoning condition. That alternate summoning condition is a futureproofing nightmare that means the second a Thunder monster becomes relevent, it would immediately rear its ugly head.

I typically dislike when cards are banned in general. I also dislike tier 0 formats. To avoid both, unban Colossus. Sprights could make it with a copy of Pixies (but only 2nd turn, so not ridiculously OP).
Colossus wouldn't see much play in any other tier 1 decks like Floo anyway. The only things it will do are:
1. Potentially bring Thunder Dragons back to tier 2/tier 1.
2. Become a splash engine like DPE
Alternatively
3. Be like Dragoon, and do nothing
As long as Union Carrier stays banned, Colossus is not a problem.

My favorite card, so take that bias into account. I say it can be safely put to one, my experience with it in master duel is that people more often than not have infinite impermanence, forbidden droplet, dark ruler no more, a Kaiju, or their deck is something like Eldlich and don't need to search for the most part...
Late reply I know, but in master duel it is easier to get cards whereas people may not have the money or copies available due to short prints or high demand etc. I'm not saying it isn't easier to out now, just that the cards you mentioned are not cards that everyone has.
Personally I think there are alot of cards on the ban list that could be unbanned and they wouldn't be too big a deal but Konami likes to let them there on principle. It baffles me that Colossus is still banned but Dark Dragoon is still completely unlimited

Considering the current format with tear spright, and flew; colossus is not that bad at 1. I still think more than 1 might be too much though
They forgot to mention this card was banned because after the master rule change you could put out three of these in one turn for no cost

I feel about Colossus the same way that I feel about Master Peace. Limited to 1
Adam and Lionie went full "just draw the out 5head." Like sure, it's outable, the problem is getting to that out without adding cards to your hand. Plus I don't necessarily think it's right to say Thunder Dragon sucks because we just got the Bystials which were actually great support for the deck. I just find this card super toxic andwith Thunder Dragon having a means of coming back I do not think it's safe to unban this card.
Nearly everyone is maining, or at least siding, some combo of sphere mode, lava golem and kaijus for tear. Colossus could come back to 3 tomorrow and we'd still be in a tier 0 format
@@CuniLaad And IO was back in the game for two years before people noticed how problematic it was. Does that mean it shouldn't have been banned? A card not having an impact in the current format doesn't mean it's not toxic in every other format
tbh the problem with colossus is that it fucks the weaker deck and sprite brings it out basically for free. you are going to make the power creep way to fucking big. also sprite and tier should play through it preatty easilly so it wont do anything to them but to the weaker decks so no keep it banned cus i still want to be able to play my jank.
