This set reminds of just how much great music came out of Latin America from the 1920s onward. Of course, some of the studio takes on Latin music were great, too -- e.g. the RKO Studio Orchestra version of the Carioca certainly sets my toes to tapping frantically. Pax41, another great set -- hoping from more from south of the border. Our best from Ukraine.
This "Karabali" --or "Jungle Drums," as it is better known to us in the States -- is fantastic; reminds me very much of a nifty version used in the Bette Davis film, EX-LADY. Fabulous stuff, all -- and a very special part of the dance music scene of this great period.
The "Carioca" recording is quite amazing, as it was recorded directly from the soundtrack of "Flying Down to Rio," as per information on the label -- yet the singing and brief dialogue are missing! Does this mean that studios used multiple tracks way back then? The grand pianos heard starting at 5:44 are actually seven in number, rotating on a turntable, with Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire dancing on their tops as they turned!
11:42 LOOKS LIKE DELORES DEL RIO WITH FRED ASTAIRE. WOW, DID SHE ACTUALLY DANCE WITH HIM? IN WHAT MOVIE? SHE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL & OF COURSE I ADORE HIM IN ALL WALKS OF DANCE.

Delightful Latin sounds :-)
Thought you might like some of these Fred. I got the sound to come out better than my early posts of the Molina sides.
Of all versions this is really it. The patina does it!
Good music for a workout, if you care to.
Very much so Robert and as Nike says Just Do It
like that South Hollywood reference :)
pax41: Which is the title of the last song by the Paramount Studio Orchestra?
