Stu Fuchs is a lifelong musician, award-winning ukulele artist and teacher of mindfulness through creative play. He has performed gypsy jazz guitar with symphony orchestras and facilitated holistic music clinics worldwide. Stu was artist-in-residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY and was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for his work bringing healing music to cancer patients and their families. He recorded and toured worldwide with renowned sacred chant artist Snatam Kaur, performing guitar on the Grammy nominated Best New Age album “Beloved”. A long-time practitioner of yoga and meditation, his focus is to teach people from all backgrounds to develop a music practice for joy, freedom, and self expression.

Woah. Okay so now my head has to wrap around this family of strums: the clave, the Bo Diddly, the George Formby, the calypso strum, …. And even think of fingerpicking in this rhythm. I love the complexity!

I manage now to strum it correctly at a good speed :) Could you also post and explain how you improvise on your loop at the end, just some snippets. If you start with the Dm Scale, how to change to the E7 etc... But once again, thanks for your musicality. Cheers from Berlin.

Playing a solo like this is a bit more complex -- following chord changes involves knowing what scale, arpeggio, chord voicings fit with the harmony of the song. I got the pattern but have to keep my mind on it. Can’t wait for it to become automatic. I think the upstroke with the thumb is the most challenging to put into auto. Rhythm and pattern is cool. Any suggestions for the thumb.
