If you are trying to get whiten/brighten white clothes specifically I alternative between ammonia and bleach every few washes. If you are looking to get stains out specifically mix 1/3 c. Baking soda, 1/3 c. Dawn Dish Soap and 1/3 c. hydrogen peroxide to create a spot stain remover. As you know never mix ammonia and bleach together. Stay safe and stain free!
This and all the things!!! ❤ And it doesn’t help that most modern washing machines don’t have an agitator in them like back in day. The purpose of the agitator was to replicate the hand scrubbing motion that was used when washing by hand, which gets the soil out of clothes. No agitator means the clothes aren’t having as much soil removed from them as what can be. Probably my biggest gripe regarding modern washers!

I haven’t seen agitators in the washers since I was little
Why bother? I buy that all that kind of stuff from Walmart. Better prices and home delivery is nearly free.
You do whatever you are comfortable with purchasing. Moral of the story just have clean clothes.
