I absolutely loved this version. The soloists were superb and Fernando and Cynthia first rate. Everything beautifully Danced and presented. Thank you all so much ABT.x
Thank you for posting, it certainly brings back very fond memory of the two outstanding dancers. I had the good fortune of watching the two of them danced in this ballet when ABT visited London in the 70's. The entire company was also on top form. Those were the days indeed.
They were sheer pefection and artistry, I saw them do Swan Lake and the standing ovation at the end went on forever, people were screaming, programs flying, bouquets flying on stage, we had to leave after 30 min and the crowd was still cheering, it was a pehnomenal experience, She lit up the stage and he commanded it
Of course the late 'Fernando Bujones' is a handsome and extraordinary classical ballet dancer, too, absolutely and I love and admire him as well ❤️ ♥️ 💙 💖 💕 ! Fernando Bujones and Cynthia do Gregory complement each other wonderfully 💖 💕 ❤️. Thank you to @ Allegro-presto for sharing ❤ 😊.
Someone's said and it's true 'Coming to ballet so late, you miss so many great performances by great artists like 'Cynthia Gregory'! Well I'm seeing Gregory now 'on tape' and am happiest still, to know about Cynthia Gregory .. . The Prima Ballerina Assoluta who has everything ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ! Thank you to @ C Gregory ❤ 😊 and to all the 'Paquita' gorgeous and amazing 'Corps de Ballet' members ❤ 😊. Of course thanks much to @ Allegro-presto for this lovely 'Paquita' video ❤ ❤ 😊.
Cynthia danced during ABT's heyday but, once she started dancing, never did I once wish that Natalia or Kelsey or any guest star was on stage. She and Fernando always raised the roof. Superlative quartet of soloists. I did not recognize Deirdre Carberry though I had seen her dance often. Here I remember why I was impressed with her. Those entrechats are amazing! and she did not just do steps but danced with brio. Very strong dancing.
Yes! The orchestrations were by john lanchbery who was the best of the best. He also orchestrated makarovas la bayadere and conducted for abt from time to time.
I really don't like this choreography, don't feel the regality, the class it suppose to show, don't see the love (after all it is supposed to be a wedding), sorry Miss. Makarova. Love Lacotte's version. See Vaganova Academy Paquita from 2018 or 2019 graduation show danced by students, it is wonderful. Choreographed by Vaganova's rector Nikolai Tsiskaridze and Yuri Burlaka after Petipa. Oh, Buyones in his variation looks like a rag doll, terrible
@@BytomGirl yes, of course I do, as do you. That said, I’m interested in viewing the version you are so fond of. I’m not finding that year easily on a youtube search. If you can provide a link here, I’d love to see it.
@@pallasonair6443 Gladly, let me find it, it is from Bolshoi, Paquita in this version is very young, just 18 and dancing with her teacher, Bolshoi premier dancer who is now a rector of Vaganova Academy. Will be right back

I could watch Cynthia all day. My mom too. This brings her joy at 86

The paquita us millennial american dancers grew up on. Be still my heart. ❤

Wow. It must have been sensational. Unforgettable. I love this ballet. This and Sylphides with Barishnikov are my favorites on my channel.

Nobody has ever compared to Cynthia Gregory - our prima ballerina assoluta!
Fernando and his perfect variation at 17:16
Yes always perfect.

Yes. They are phenomenal. Dance very easily. They were born for that.
Agree.
what a dancer was fernado ,l was so lucky having seen him live at his time in many occasions
love, love love!!! -
Standing ovation 👏
No ballerina ever was as regal as Cynthia Gregory !
Yes indeed. Pointes of steel!!
My favorite! And a very nice lady at the stage door she does an extra turn! No one else I've seen does that!
ABTs orchestrations from this era are so beautiful! Was there a notable conductor involved around this time? I'm fascinated.

@@ronniedamnitz9295 oh nice! that makes perfect sense as my favorite recording of 'giselle' is arranged by john lanchbery! thank you.
Your welcome!
Pretty sure the Conductor was Maestro Akira Endo.
Such a great ballet ...cuckoo for the score too!

Variation 1- Leslie Browne
Variation 2 - Susan Jaffe
Variation 3 - Cynthia Harvey
Variation 4 - Dierdre Carberry
Allegro-presto thank you so much!
And what year is it?
I haven't seen any black ballet dancer in Paris Opéra that's shame. Only countries that I saw are United States, England, Canada, Cuba.
Beautiful, but noone trumps Svetlana Zhakarova...
And you had to post that here because ??? 🤮🤮🤮

Dreadful orchestration!
sez who? you?
@@Marcel_Audubon I agree - the reorchestration is awful - totally unnecessary
@@altaischurale7324 You can thank Sir John Lanchberry for the strange noises the orchestra makes.

Firmly disagree with your comment about Fernando Bujones. I saw him (& Cynthia Gregory) perform live many times in their heyday. Gorgeous.
