"Snowblowers are expensive and oil is cheap" puts everything into perspective for everyone. It should anyway. Think about it. 20 minutes and maybe 5 dollars to insure that you are able to run it a little better and longer. It's worth not having to go and spend another $1000 plus or minus on a new machine. I know that there are other maintenance things that should be done but this is a very big and important one that is fairly easy and cheap to do. Keep up the great job JB.

Nice video. One more suggestion - read your owners manual on when to change the oil. Mine states do it after five hours when you purchase the machine (probably to get rid of any metal shavings from manufacturing imperfections) and then do it after 25 hours. If you get a lot of snow and have a long driveway (I do) you may have to change it once during the winter as well (rare, but it does happen).

Great video! I'm not good at this kind of stuff and my owner's manual pointed to a small square shaped plug on the engine for draining the oil. My engine also has the 5/8" spout like yours. Wow this was a million times easier than last time. I cut up a 2 liter Sunkist bottle, took off the left wheel, and she's flowing great with no mess. Thanks man!

I have an Ariens 24" compact that I bought two years ago. I tried to do my first oil change, but I couldn't keep that long oil rod from moving, and the cap was really stuck on tight. I accidentally caused the rod to unthread from the base of the oil pan(I quickly screwed it back in), and some oil leaked out. Any ideas on how to get that cap off
