  • GTB Sound recording Studios in The Hague in 1942
Sound engineering studios GTB was founded by Gerard Theo Bakker in 1929 in The Hague. The abbreviation GTB can be interpreted in two ways: Gerard Theo Bakker or Geluidstechnisch Bureau (Sound Engineering Studios). Bakker had advanced cutting equipment that he partly developed himself. In addition to recordings in the studio, GTB also made recordings on location. Many famous artists recorded their records at GTB.
In 1942, Arie van den Dool, a member of the HAF, the Hague Amateur Film Club, recorded a feature film on sound with the title “Artiesten gezocht”. This movie can be found on TH-cam. The sound was recorded on 78 rpm discs.
Music fragments en studio fragments are now bundled in this video “GTB Studios Den Haag 1942”.
You can see and hear the De Kilaueas and the Matapuas, a famous Hague Hawaiian ensembles in 1942, the Meester Xylophonisten conducted by J.D Tesink and Toosje Lamboo and an unknown pianist.
This movie was digitized by Philip van den Dool using the Wolverine F2D MovieMaker Pro.
