Welp, that was my childhood right there.
I was fortunate enough to see the Maestro conduct live in 1993. 30+ years and it's still one of the strongest memories I've got.

I never realized how important and prominent his music was to my childhood. I probably saw every movie he did with Spielberg growing up and his music played through my head and still does today, daily

You know the music is iconic when you have no trouble at all to name the movies the themes are from.

The percussionist playing snare during "Superman" looks like he's having the time of his life. But John Williams is a great composer, so he'd better be. :)

Well, may be since you can't summarize the work of his lifetime in 5 Minutes.. some pieces fall apart. When you listen to the 6 Star Wars Scores, there are so many great themes, which will last forever. The Imperial March, The Duell of the Fates, Jodas Theme, The Asteroid Field, The Flagg Parade and so on. Then we have Schindlers List, Memories of a Geisha, The Lost world, Hook, A.I., Seven Years in Tibet and so on.. As Steven Spielberg said: "In all his pieces is some kind of genius."

I wonder if John Williams ever gets bored hearing his own music.
Can he even watch any of his movies?

I practice 50 t0 60 minuets a day & that's about 90 minutes a day--not enough . Need to do at least twice as much to be functional . Wish I could live my life over again ! Dick Buck

I remember Leonard's father Felix, and the " Fantastic Strings "........ sadly lacking in this orchestra are any sort of stringed instrument, poor John must be cringing inside! Nice orchestra but the Pops it ain't!

+Tinsby No shit, sherlock. They clearly announced it was the President's Own. No one said it was an orchestra.

Wretched performance. Lots of wrong notes, sloppy entrances. I imagine JTW would not be amused.

+Kinopanorama Widescreen Preservation Association Incorporated You must have really slowed the video down and studied parts that go by so fast that we can't tell the music isn't computer-generated.

I have the full orchestral score, so am able to follow the performance.

Would like some examples please!! Your orchestral scores are not what’s being played here. This is a transcription for band and a good one at that! I have perfect pitch and for the life of me I couldn’t hear 1 if any mistakes!
