  • The Coast to Coast was originally described by Alfred Wainwright in his 1973 book A Coast to Coast Walk and covers just under 200 miles between St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay in Yorkshire.

Been watching many C2C videos as prep for doing the walk Sept 22 (using a guided holiday company sp hotel to hotel and only a day pack to carry). By all accounts you'd broken the back of the walk and completed the really hard part (Watch Day Tripper on YT - he stopped 3 times and then came back).

So sorry you have had to finish the Coast to Coast walk because of your knee problems, and hope you get it sorted after rest and don't have any long term effects from it, but I am not surprised after doing two and a half long distance walks nearly back to back with a fully loaded pack on your back, you should be proud of yourself for what you have achieved in the last few weeks, I know I am proud of you for what you have achieved, out of the three walks which you have done which one do you think is the best one and which one did you enjoy most and give you the most satisfaction? my friend and his wife set off on the Coast to Coast walk in July but they had to pack up at Keld because she had bad blisters, once again huge congratulations on what you have achieved these last few weeks and thank you for videoing each day of every walk you have done, I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of them and will miss my daily dose of My Big Free Life.

Aw, thanks Howard. I'm not sure I can pick a favourite to be honest. I feel that I evolved a lot as I went on. The Offa's Dyke will definitely have a special place in my heart for being my first one though and my goodness I learned a lot on that one! I met amazing people on all the walks, and saw incredibly scenery too. The inner journey is the best takeaway, for sure - more self confidence etc. My knees are feeling better now after a month of taking it easy, no permanent damage done thankfully :)

Finally got the knee checked out today, it seems that no permanent damage has been done, it just needed more recovery time than I was giving it.
