It not only tells you something bad is on the way, but it does so in the worst possible manner. This is a comparison of warning sirens or emergency alarm systems (EAS) from different countries around the world.

It’s interesting to mention this about Brazilian alert system. There isn’t anything like a nationwide alert system apart from requests by the government to use TV and radio stations (in which case the sirens are not used in the airwaves). Actual siren alert systems are used only in some locations (notably in the state of Rio de Janeiro) prone to landslides during the rain season and in the city of Angra dos Reis (also in Rio state) which not only is subject to landslides on some residential areas but is also home to Brazil’s only nuclear power plant.
There are also sirens on some places in the state of Minas Gerais in which mining dams exist.

Not only has Austria a very dense network of these EAS sirens, we also test them once a week, each saturday at noon, to see if any is working or not. And once a year, they test them by blasting all warning sequences, so that the public hears them at least once and is somewhat familiar with it.
As an austrian i can confirm that this is true
As someone from the netherlands i get scared every month for a quick second or 2
But it's honestly scarier when it doesn't sound
In the area I grew up in the US, the tornado sirens of each town in the area would be tested on the same day every month, and they're basically just repurposed air raid alarms. On particularly still mornings, it was even eerier than usual as you could hear the sirens of a few surrounding towns echoing across your own, in addition to the usual one.
0:25 Imagine hearing this while you are sleeping.

2 days ago I got a Greek war alarm (it was a test btw) as a Greek the full is indeed terrifying
Also, the sirens from Sweden and Cameroon are similar to the Skeld alert beep from Among Us, the ones from Canada and Madagascar have the same interval to Sonic the Hedgehog’s drowning theme, Saudi Arabia and Brazil have the most modern alert systems, the sirens from Mexico, Ecuador, and Romania have sounds taken from the one used by the United States, and Indonesia’s and Switzerland’s alarms are the most sussiest.
And yes I’m mixing game references with information I gathered from this video.

The music box was used once during a radio broadcast in the 20s after a war with Congo was announced. The internet heard it and kinda ran with it. The Turkey one is actually terrifyingly loud, that sh!t played at school and oh my god it was so fricking loud. And actual earthquake had just happened and guess where our class was at? At the basement dancing for no reason. It was one of the scariest moments ever. Thank god the people that made the school made sure it was durable so no one inside the school got seriously injured.
So obviously they sent us out of the school and into an empty place, but only if they knew, one of us was still inside hiding under a table. The teacher was the first to realize that, and she began to panic. And one if the securities had to go and get him.

Germany has many diffrent types of siren alarms.
As an example special combinations can symbolize ABC Alarms (Chemical warfare) or as well firedepartment alarms if their radios have a problem.
It depends on the pattern. The sirens are as well there to let people that its clear again.

As someone who lives in ireland I can indeed say that is the real noise and it is VERY LOU-
The reason Switzerland’s alarm is so scary, is because the country has been neutral for 200+ years to this day, and was completely neutral during both world wars, so it would be a large scare if a country were to invade Switzerland 🇨🇭
